My boat carries her name as a sign of wisdom in honour of her: 'Hypatia'.

Wonderful lecture, handed with class by Dr Fenny Smith despite the audible incursions from what sounds like renovations nearby. Thank you for sharing your knowledge about the inspiring Hypatia, Dr Smith!

What a woman she must have been. And such a legacy. Here we are...1600 years later....and she is still making her mark.

Most enjoyable. The good doctor presents a good spread of the currents moving against the lives of countercultural icons in the relatively ancient world. Thanks for posting a fine history lecture from an intellect both broad and deep.

She was killed because she was a staunch supporter of Orestes, the Roman governor of Egypt, rival of St. Cyril. Orestes was a Christian btw., baptized by the Patriarch of Constantinople.

She was a neo platonist why they called her pagan was most likely to slander her
