She was killed because she was a staunch supporter of Orestes, the Roman governor of Egypt, rival of St. Cyril. Orestes was a Christian btw., baptized by the Patriarch of Constantinople.
My boat carries her name as a sign of wisdom in honour of her: 'Hypatia'.

What a woman she must have been. And such a legacy. Here we are...1600 years later....and she is still making her mark.
