I grew up in Ligonier. We lived on Hermitage Circle in Oakwood Hills. My parents & I moved for my dad's job to Florida the week after I graduated Ligonier Valley High School in 1987. I still live in Florida, but have been back several times to Ligonier over the years. I actually moved from Central FL to Tallahassee because it reminds me more of Ligonier...Lots of nature & hills...quaint little surrounding towns etc. My husband would move to Ligonier in a heartbeat. I don't know about doing gray winters again though. I'd love to have 2 homes and split my year when we retire.

Thanks for the comment! Oakwood Hills is beautiful. I graduated from Laurel Valley in 91. Enjoy Tallahassee in the meantime and i can ever be of assistance on this end, let me know. Take care!

Holy cow, I grew up in Laughlintown and moved to Tallahassee, what a small world! I really miss "home" , I hope to retire up there.

@@oilybitsgarage9602 That is for sure...What a small world! Yep Laughlintown!!! You know Ligonier Country Inn is gone now. Luckily We stayed there with my kids about 10 years ago, so I have photos. They were doing a reenactment at the fort and my one son was obsessed with history. We were at Williamsburg and spur of the moment continued our trip to Ligonier. My best friend worked at the Pie Shoppe during high school and then opened her own in town and now in Latrobe. I still crave their Gobs!!!

@@tallygirl2streasures717 wow I didn't know that! Most of our family all moved away. My friends used to "pop wheelies" in front of that place trying to impress a lady who worked there, of course she was in her twenties and we were just kids, haha! I used to catch the bus on the porch of the compass inn, and I'd get there early to get a gob and a chocolate milk before the bus came.
Very cool to know someone in Tally knows where Laughlintown is. I usually just say I'm from the Pittsburgh area! Very cool! Maybe we'll run into each other sometime and can relive life in the big world of ligonier!
