    Both of these songs are from the "Unseen World" album of 2021. They split the album into two parts: 原点回帰 (genten gaiki, translates as "going back to the starting point" or "Roots") and 現点進化 (genten shinka, a word Miku coined meaning "evolution from the current point" or "Progress"). "Manners" is roots, and "Black Hole" is progress. I think they confounded some of their fans but for me this album is a staggering colossus of music. An epic masterpiece. Kanami is a brilliant composer.

    Favorite Band-Maid song? Of course, it's the last one you listened to. Seriously, I've been listening to rock music in it's various forms since The Beatles came to the US, and this band has given me that level of excitement. They are phenomenal!
    If you haven't yet, check out their performance at Lollapalooza, you'll see.

    Nice reaction. I love both songs and I think its brilliant that they put these two songs back to back in this video in order to showcase the band's versatility to do both a groovy, bluesy rock and a crazy punk/metal/prog/whatever song. Just noticed your Queen poster in the back. If you've seen the 2018 movie Bohemian Rhapsody, you might enjoy Band-Maid's MV of Bubble. The song was written for a Japanese TV drama called Perfect Crime but the music video was inspired by the movie Bohemian Rhapsody and pays homage to Freddie. I've always loved Saiki's "crazy eyes" at the I'm Getting Drawn In part of the lyrics in this one, lol 🤩

    There were a few MV's put out by Band-Maid at this time, during the plague years, when therewas an extra payment made available to artists as long as they released double song MV's. Band-Maid couldn't earn from live gigs so streamed 5 audienceless gigs, including a superb 14 song acoustic set where they all wore their own clothes for once. BLACK HOLE is a 220 BPM hardAF song and if you like that speed and rawness - as well as perfect t5echnical ability and musicianship - then try the MV for RINNE. I used to be a Punk back in 1976 and 77!

    Thank you for your reaction. My #1 is Manners because I love the song and the MV sent me on my musical journey with the maids. It doesn’t mean it is the best of their songs, only on the same album it stands among giants such as Warning, No God, HGK, Giovanni and Black Hole just to mention a few, but it has a special place in my heart as few other songs could have convinced me in the same way as Manners did. I’m coming more from the slower side of music and the reason I love Band Maid is despite of the music being fast rather than because of, the queens of transitions, song writing exceptional. Have fun! :)

    Black Hole is definitely my favorite of those two. I am a sucker for fast paced drumming, and Akane delivers aplenty on that song! My absolute favorite song is Corallium. Everything I love about Band-Maid concentrated into 4 minutes: Intense drumming, great vocal harmonies, vertigo inducing genre blending, killer bass line and eclectic guitars.

    Told you you would have loved Black Hole! You mentioned punk, alternative, speed metal, trash, i would add prog, yes, progressive punk. Unseen World is my favorite Band Maid's album, and Black Hole is one of my all time favorite songs, and i'm a fan of the best prog rock, punk and metal bands in history. That song is a masterpiece!

    Just when you think time flies at 160bpm you go to overdrive at 220 bpm.

    Of the two, I slightly prefer Black Hole... took me a few times listening, but once I got in sync with the speed I really enjoyed it. These songs are quite the contrast, but both done exceptionally well. If you liked Black Hole, you should check out other songs off their "Unseen World" album, it is all just fantastic! Thanks for the reaction.

  • @philcalvino884
    @philcalvino884 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Yeah, they're pretty special the way they can switch it up so well. If you're into a more punk vibe with a little prog edge to it, there are several others on the Unseen World album that you will want to take along with you into the black hole: for example, H-G-K, Why Why Why, I Seek Revenge, Warning, etc.

    Only question regarding Black hole is why and how is this even working? Controlled chaos. I love it.

    Prior to Black Hole, their song called Different was their fastest, most speed metal/thrash paced song. You might want to check it out as It is a banger.

    Had a feeling you would dig black hole lol. Saiki can lalala her way out of anything. I gave up trying to pin them to a genre a long time ago. They just do whatever they want, and somehow its good every fucking time!

    If you're into Thrash try their song, 'Rinne'. I recommend the OMV. It's a but washed out and grainy because like the Japanese Horror Movie it got it's name from it's shot on 8mm film. It was done in an abandoned or under construction house, which also gives it a creepy vibe/

    My favorite Band-Maid song? The last or current one I am listening to. The Ladies are the ONLY band that I listen to, that that is true of.

  • @MusicMike747
    @MusicMike747 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Of the two, I prefer Manners. But I think the majority like Black Hole.
    My ears dig melody and groove, not so much with the wall of sound and chaos.
    Even so, Band Maid is loaded with as much courage as talent. They release creative music, push boundaries, make something unique for almost anyone.
    For John Slop? If you liked “Black Hole,” here’s the Maid servings in that spirit:
    “Blooming,” “Rinne,” “Shambles,” “Giovanni,” “Warning!”

    Simply put, Band Maid defies categorization. I used to call them pan-rock genre, but that is not even what they do, One fan said the simply play "Band Maid Music" No on should try to categorize them because you could get multiple genres in one song, We should not try to pigeon-hole them and just enjoy their sound. There are some "white screen" videos of Band Maid performing the songs instrumentally without the lyrics and on the "Unseen World" album there is a third side that is the instrumentals from all of their songs on it. It's like listening to the coolest jam session ever.

    The Japanese rock/metal scene from these all female groups is the best in the world right now. Lovebites, Band-Maid, Nemophila, and Hababie are awesome. The only other non-Japanese band that I put up there us The Warning out of Mexico.

    WARNING! (maybe your next song?) It's bad MANNERS to stop listening to Band-Maid because you'll feel starved for musical excellence and joy and fall into a BLACK HOLE of emptiness... probably! 😵 Thx, John!

    I think with this combination of songs, which was intentional, they asked if you want your complexity slow, or fast? Every level of musicality in both songs is annoyingly good though. Black Hole is my jam though, absolute chaos with melodies please and thank you.

    As an old Skater from back in the 80's, I totally get the 'Skate Punk', feel man. I so wish 'Black Hole' was around then. It would have been so good to thrash a bowl or half pipe to this back in the day.
    Misa & Akane own both those songs. Cheers.

    Thank you for reacting to this live version which is sooooo much better than the MV.
    What I find truly amazing is that they write those amazingly complex songs themselves! It might sound simple, but when you delve in, every instrument is surprisingly complex. .... Kanami wrote Black Hole to push the limits of Akane's speed.
    .... Go back and check out Miku hiding an evil grin at the start of Black Hole...
