OBVIOUSLY HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE BEST FUNK BANDS EVER!!
Hands UP !!
Soul Bands
Very true one of the best bands ever
Ohio, and I'm not from there so no bias, put out the best fonk of any state...quite easily. Too many bands and artists to name.
Really maybe for you, what about Earth wind and fire? 😅
This was a great band. I seen 'em in the 70's. They jumped in to the audience and started partying with us. They're a great bunch of dudes.
Vincent Steele thanks 😎
That's interesting and different. Never knew they were so personal. I heard different of them
@@tammaywilliams5513 I seen them in the 70's. Times were different then. I seen a lot of great bands during that era.
That’s excellent !
@@guitarttimman yes, saw them late 70s. Things were very different. Musicians were more down to earth. I was late teens and had to sneak to go. Good times.
I'm 63 and I love the music of the 70's! Still listening is right!!!! The best music ever! I can feel it in my soul !!!😂😂😂😂
Im 24 and I love music from the 70’s still listening to it right now !
I'm getting ready to be 65 & I love the music of the 70's. Ya know what's funny, when they played this song on the radio I can actually hear what song they played after this one. It was Rollercoaster! Remember that one? I really miss Wolf Man Jack!
I’m 63 too. Will turn 64 in May, God willing. Love these trips down memory lane, although it can put me in a melancholy state of mind. That’s ok. Anyway, the years went quick, didn’t they?
😅🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
🥁🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I'm 62 and still can do The Bump! FIRE 🔥 is still 🔥 FIRE 🔥 OHIO PLAYERS LEGENDARY 🏆 ❤ 🙏🏽 💐
The Ohio players were ahead of their time . 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I'm 68 great music never changes!
Most of these black bands had no formal music lessons!! Raw talent!!! Self taught!!
Exactly! Just what I was thinking about earlier. Pure talent and a love for singing and performing!! ❤
A song like "Fire" is the result of a lot of hard work not just spontaneous combustion. W.C. Handy, Louis Armstrong, Billy Strayhorn, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Jimi Hendrix on through the R&B/Funk bands these guys had music training. The number of members of this band of players is long, they were formed in 1959.
@@johnnydelmar
Yeah I agree…but the special creative, artistic aptitude and natural endowment is embedded dogg.
Absolutely!!!
I'm 74 years-old and I can never forget listening to this tune and doing 'the bump' back in 1974, when I was a young man of 25!
The Bump ...the memories...😂 i was 9
Ohio Players, one of the Greatest R&B/Funk Bands from the past and even in today's society 2024 era.
I saw Sugar Foot and the Ohio Players in a small nightclub in Los Angeles in the mid 90's. They started playing and I jumped up on stage dancing with Sugar Foot! They were jamming and had the whole place dancing and singing! One of the GOAT bands in the 70's.
IkinDiggIt
😂😂 I would have like to have seen that. What a great time & A forever memory for you.
STILL jammin these brothers in 2020!
Me to and it is 2022
@@ayndowney9401 Me too and its 2024
70’s funk really stands the test of time! AWESOME!😎🤩
RIPP Satch, Sugarfoot, Pee-Wee & Jones. Your legacy of funk will never die
And Junie too.
@@jayhooks6031 Thanks for adding Junie to the list. I'm from Dayton and Junie and Roger Troutman were the musicians that every musician from Dayton aspired to be as good as :-) They were truly "off-the-charts" creative/gifted and could play multiple instruments...very, very well. For us, I guess they were like Prince was for Minneapolis musicians :-)
I must go at this time, see you when you get there 🥰🙏
Forever may they Funk In Peace.
I would like to remind you that your generation was and still better than mines. I’m 26 years old but I always seem to go back to old school music for healing. Music back then felt more genuine.
Yeah me too
The greatest music was from the early 70s to about mid to late 80s in my opinion, of course I'm biased cause that's when I grew up during that time.
@@billybeason350😂
I'm 63...We thought it would always be this way!!!! Had we known we would've enjoyed it more. 🤭🤭🤭
@@mariahardy1201 I was born in 10000 bc
This was the band in the 70’s.... played song to death in the 70’s as teenager and other Ohio Player songs. This is some of the best music ever when people played instruments and entertained you.

My parents were going through a stressful divorce in 1974. My Mom sent me with my older sister to see the Ohio Players in concert. Shut the front door! As a child I was impressed with the whole experience. It was a highly multiple sensory concert.

Such a bad A group so underrated but who's still listening in 2024 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I'm from Ohio so this is my player theme music🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Now yeah. Back in my day they were the top funk band in the nation. George Clinton came to visit almost weekly to find his grouve to part from the rock he was playing. They had a whole other vibe until their leader got drunk and quit his own dam band. They wrote Funky Worm and became a national sensation just after PAIN kinda began the Funk Movement taking blues and adding a whole other grouve then placing the drama of the bass driven back. Sly did it and those who had a ear picked up on it then FUNK was born
Will always love the Ohio Players!
🙋🏾♀️👏🏾💃🏾🙌🏾🔥🔥🔥
They were NIT Under rated..🙄. ..Be original....your comnent is dumb
I like this brand of funk.
this song is DOPE back then and still is... they don't make music like this anymore.. love these guys ... always liked R&B and Funk and I'am white lol

I remember when I was working at this hotel in Long Beach they stayed at our hotel cuz they were playing in Long Beach and I had to make a delivery to the bass players room and I got to sit and talk with him for a little bit. He let me play his base. Well attempt to try to play his base. It was such a wonderful time. They were so nice for those in the group who has passed on. May you rest in peace and Funk Forever!!!!
A real band! They played instruments unlike many of today's singers!

@@tammaywilliams5513 you got good taste 👍
Mostly because of some cooking competition help that out!
Unsung, should do a show on the Ohio Player's, they didn't get their just Dues, they were the Best Funk group ever, in the 70's and 80's, you better Hallar!
They do have an Unsung episode
They did. Their front man , on trumpet (Satch) reportedly handled their money - ended up Not paying their taxes etc. Spent alot of money on lavish things for himself. That were shocked when IRS hit them with a huge tax debt - they thought the saxophone man Satch was taking it outta their earnings handling their business.
Hootie Hoo!! Lol
Wrong...They didnt pay their taxes..He split the royalty checks with them..
@@ohioplayer Satch handled their money. Paying them outta their royalties, performances etc. They THOUGHT he was paying their taxes in the process of handling the money, but he wasn't. They didn't find out until IRS hit each of them with a HUGE tax debt. They each had to answer to IRS, scrape up money and make installments to pay off IRS. They were furious with Satch because even though he gave them money for shows, royalties etc., the books and receipts showed a lotta more money went thru his hands unaccounted for that shouda been going toward taxes. They wanted to know what he did with that excess money...but I think he in turn got angry and gave them his azz to kiss. They filed a lawsuit against him..he bailed ship.
I miss the 70’s and 80’s.
The sound quality was great here too! 👏🏽🥰 Just like how I remember it!
Lived just down street from Ohio players. Their musical dna legacy is eternal!
