This is literally the same hack that got me back on Feb 2nd. My friend and I are game developers so I didn't think nothing of it and that's when everything fell a part. I have my own Discord server and my heart dropped seeing so many people get messaged by my hacked account and people getting booted from my discord server. I've had the account for 7 years, I've so many connections that I won't be able to get back, and whats worse is that a friend I've known for well over a decade passed away at the start of the year and majority of our interactions were through discord. I've made multiple tickets and never received my account back, it's now shown as "deleted" (I use quotes because sometimes I can still see the details of it as if its not deleted) and I've had to make a new discord account. Despite having all the evidence that it was my account, discord did nothing. I even made a request to transfer ownership of my discord to me and they've yet to get back to me. It just really sucks...

my way of avoiding things has caused a very anti-social way of living. i don't trust anything anybody says online ever, and im always pessimistic. even if my best friend sent me a link i wouldn't trust it.

I swear to god, so I own a discord server of almost 3k people, and this shit has become and epidemic. Discord continues to include useless nitro features, but does zero to nothing about this.

This is crazy because I just had something like this happen to me recently and I had my discord account hacked as well. I even ended up loosing actual money because of it. So I feel that exact feeling you do there. Stay safe on discord y’all ✊

I'm sorry you got hacked. I'm glad you got it sorted out and fixed. I hope your number isn't compromised because that's a lot of work to have to change your number and everything it's connected to. I love the bit when you explained how people don't want to look like a fool, you had Buggy's makeup on. I think it's important that you explained how you got hacked so others can use it as a cautionary tale for themselves or others so they can avoid being hacked.

Good video glob!! The way this video exposes this type of scam, is very helpful to everyone using discord. Bots and scams are RAMPANT nowadays. The amount of people i have to block/ban on a daily basis is getting insane.

Discord is such a big place for scam runs
watch a good bunch of your videos and joined recently anime discord when i found the tenkaichi 3 build (recently i played most beloved game from the past with online, emulators or real hardware), already knew about dolphin network but that build is amazing. we don't want to pirate or make money first, but preserve games and play online with people the best way possible, most friends i played with in tenkaichi don't play anymore so online is a must.
i'm really grateful, shame people like this exist and not only ruin people time and business, but puts more doubts, when even completely stranger ones are in reality good people. take care of that, we'll wait patiently for the new content

i fell for this hack recently, thankfully it was an extremely primitive varient that just restarts discord, makes a fake log in screen, and tries to steal stuff from your browser, it cant grab 2fa codes or anything so within 2 days i had completely erased it from my pc without having to do a system reset. i wasnt even hacked either as the only way to get hacked from it is to fall for the fake login screen. i was able to find its files in my browsers temp files and in the %appdata% folder. its definetly not fun to fall for it but if its a simple version it can be found and deleted with ease, it sucks that this happened to you tho and proves you gotta be on your toes constantly.

Well, after seeing this, I must say, that happened to me too 3 years ago. In discord, one guy said the same thing and I was with a lot of things going on. He catched me when I was the most vulnerable and yep, hacked. All this to say that, you're a brave one to tell that and even help people to not fall for that. I hope you get everything good.

I remember when I got hacked. It's usually from a friend who already got hacked.
So when a friend you haven't spoken to in a minute messages you for help or to do something different, pay attention. They'd be more formal than usual, make sure you knowledge check them. Asking something out of pocket and getting a normal response is usually what I do.
If someone sends you a sus link acting like one of your friends, demand to talk to them on mic while you do it to make sure it's them.

Had this happen to me too, someone who i haven't spoken to for over 4 years randomly dm'd me to try their project game and I was like "lmao nice try (very bad word)" and block their ass.

You might want to change your number. If they spoof that number and call your phone carrier and either they have some of your personal info or the carrier doesn't ask for enough proof they could change it so they receive your texts/calls.

Same exact thing happened to me last year in August. Had a friend of mine I was talking to a week prior on discord and they asked me about developing an indie game and was asking of o could try it. Next thing I knew, I got an email saying I was hacked and kicked out my account. I got bribed and threaten that if i didnt take the bribe my account and personal info would be sold. I didnt take the bribe and i just let them have it. About a month later I got my account back, but it was filled with 18+ servers that i just ended up deleting it

One thing you may want to check for is a key logger they may have installed one along with giving them remote access to your PC.

Just unplug lan or force shutdown by holding power button
Turn on pc without internet connection and try researching what to do
It could be different from different scams

I might also reset my internet box to factory just to be safe (even change it if you can)
Skilled hackers can easily get into the box and turn it into a vulnerable entry point into your computer later on.

Yeah I got hacked on discord too. I can't exactly remember it but it was a well placed link that allowed them to access the credit card connected to my account. They used it to gift Nitro to some people I think. Anyways, the guy that hacked me messaged me on his own account. I pretty much just argued with him and got him to brag about doing it so I can send a complaint to Discord. They pretty much just said they couldn't help me and didn't even ban the guy.
I had the same thing happen to me somebody on my discord was hacked they then asked me to test out a game. Then i heard basically in a discord group announce this persons account has hacked do not click what they give you and was like welp i dodged bullet.

my brother and his friends send memes and stuff like that to each other all the time, all of a sudden one of the friends have been hacked and hacker gets control of his discord, and he was 14 at the time or so, but had stupidly his card saved so his account was used to gift nitro to the hacker or something like that. Silly silly, and no 2 factor authentication so that account was forever lost.
