He's doing the trusted method of deflect and double down. It's especially damning for him seeing as his dojo was primarily advertising to the younger crowd. I had kinda just assumed it was just for kids and teens when I lived by it. He probably doesn't want to admit the truth and risk damaging his reputation further. Even though he should. Bakersfield isn't the best city for finding a solid dojo and he's not helping the situation any. And I've been helping getting the word spread about him.

Might cut/post this clip in the next days with attribution th-cam.com/users/clipUgkxc9b6I-pqUlL9l_6ZkglE0yDMDlx94izK
Brian seems more concerned about his business than the safety of the kids, very dangerous.

On one of the messages you showed between Brian and Gary
      Bryan, flat out says
      And I quote
“ I’ve always looked the other way”
Now I’m really kind of wondering what he meant by that🤨
I don’t know if you saw that but it’s definitely in that message between those two at 8:10
Gary needs to say something to back Brian up because of his business and people on TikTok talking about it
“Because I looked the other way for you!”
Looked the other way during what is my question and that was never covered
Look at the second to bottom paragraph on Brians side
Maybe you seen it if not, Happy Easter egg for you😂
And yes, I know this is old but I just watched it so

I work as a full time martial arts teacher in Finland. Most of our students are kids aged 5-16. Every single instructor, coach, teacher and assistant has had their background checked before we could set foot on the mats, even the instructors who only teach adults classes. Here it is required by law and I believe that in most civilized countries its the same way. Anyone running a Dojo should not let anyone teach at their school without a background check, thats a minimum. If you are not willing to demand that, you deserve getting your Dojo closed for not even trying to offer a safe space for ALL your students. Including women and kids.

Dude Antak NEEDS to address this to the parent’s of these poor kids. I know he’s 100% lying cause I have seen Gary and Brian training together on tik tok about a month or so before the first video. Thank you for making this public! Gary literally tried to get me to come from Michigan to train with them.

He is absolutely not being 100. He is more concerned with bottom lines and reputation. His rep is already in the shitter and the only way out is honest acknowledgment, sincere apology and a commitment to putting student safety above all else.

I think your 6 ideas of how to handle the situation are excellent. It won't completely fix the mistakes he made, but it will be a good start to undoing the damage he caused. However, I don't think he's being honest about everything. He's either trying to hide his incompetence or his complacency in this situation, and neither are good for him or his students.
I have probably said thank you in the past for the hard work and diligence you put into your videos, but I will say it again. Thank you for all of the hard work and due diligence you have put into these videos and your attempts to keep the martial arts legit. I have learned a lot from your chanel and I look forward to the lessons you will have to offer in the future

This is mind blowing to me, In my youth I was targeted by a distant relative in the Australian Scouting movement, think cub scouts. This man was a trusted leader and educator of up to 30 young boys. He was caught and charged for rape and sexual assault. Jailed, released and re offended. I was one of the lucky ones who got out. Scouting organisation's in Aus are frequent haunts for predator's. My mother put me into Chee's Advanced Tae Kwon Do in the 80's, and I still practice many different martial arts today in my 50's. I was always of the thought that martial arts clubs are the safest place to enrol your children. The Instructors I have dealt with over the years regarding my own children, have always been of the highest calibre and integrity. This is horrifying to me that this stuff happens in organisations like the martial arts. Keep up the good work.

I had only one thought while I saw Mr. Antaks Video...."Why doen't he admit that his errors. Why doesn't he take responsibility? Why doesn't he just step forward and tell the whole truth? " Nobody will believe anything but that, because the evidence is crushing.....No! He is not at all handling this the way he should. And he is not acting like someone who should teach or in other form influence on children or even anybody. Mr. Antak has no honor and is a coward in my opinion.

To me, the absolutely most terrifying point of this whole video was the tik tok message, where Brian states "I've always had your back I've always looked the other way"WTF?! You know what I NEVER want an instructor to do if a pedophile is around children? LOOK THE OTHER WAY!! Until he clears up what he meant by that, he is not worthy to run a dojo. For sure, shame on Gary for even putting himself in that situation. And for sure, shame on Brian for not doing a thourough back ground. But once it comes out, you have literally lost all credibility for continuing any contact with him. And expecting Gary to state something to clear Brians name is the stupidest thing I have ever heard! it is literally worse coming from Gary. WE ALREADY KNOW WE CAN'T TRUST THAT POS.!! How is he going to exonerate anyone? LMAO.

He really needs to do a 7th thing apology with explanations and a plan of action to everyone around his business (I mean everybody because he failed them all). When he is saying what he has said then it is a 99.9% certainly he has not done so.
He has handled it poorly (would give him an “F”) and his honesty is as low as the person he borrowed that “fake news” term from when that man talked about his affairs (can you give an F-?).
Look I get it as even the worst persons can be affable and make friends and more even when their evil is exposed. Heck, maybe he is scared is a lawsuit or everyone leaving if he is honest. But that is really a shortsighted way of thinking . He opened a business that has the health and building up of young minds and bodies as a core tenant. The. very nature of this business puts the powerful and capable next to the relatively less powerful and vulnerable. He had to know. That even if he personally liked that guy he can’t have him near the kids - it is just as dangerous as putting one’s favorite model of claymore (land mine) mounted to the wall on a hook. Yeah nothing could happen but what if it did go off!
To Brian if you ever read this (and at this point in the text I doubt you or anyone will) I want you to stop and think about something. If you go to a doctor you know they make sure the staff is healthy so you will not will not get sick. If you got sick nothing the Doctor said would matter to you in your fury. Brian, your dojo has sick people in it. We all know one and if you have one you may have more. You have to find those that are sick or not right to be near kids and get them out the door. They need help you can’t give and MUST not be employed near children. You have to check everyone of those that are around your kids. From the janitor to the instructors and anyone else under your roof. Brian you already messed up but the mark of a real man is how they recover and make it right!
    ---
((Small point- Don’t tell parents to ask kids if something happened with specificity (don’t use the guy’s name or picture). Just open up a conversation about how they feel about the place and going there and listen clearly. Kids even teens will talk if you give them a permission, time and an ear. There is some good advice available on line with sites with a simple google search and web address that end in “.edu” or “.gov” and a couple others. If they think there is something there, the parents should absolutely not over react or take it on themselves to investigate or talk with that SOB. Be calm bring in authorities or a mental health care worker with the right skills to move forward. Certainly we want the children (yeah teens you count here) to be protected and helped. There are resources out there - I recommend them.))

Hey Rob, do martial arts schools carry liability insurance? If so, do these policies generally exclude claims involving sexual misconduct by staff? If they don't, I would imagine the insurance companies would require background checks on all employees.

Brian is not quite at the point of gaslighting, but I feel that will be the next step if he decides not to come clean about the whole situation. He appears from an outside perspective to almost not really care about what kind of impact this could have on both the children and the parents for his inaction. Brian's responses to this situation from that video alone not only was delivered poorly, but half of it was nonsensical.
Basically if Brian keeps trying to shirk his culpability in this situation and continues to deflect responsibility then I don't see why his school should not be shut down. As you said in part 1 the teacher has temporary guardianship of those children and as such they need to be provided a completely safe environment to learn in. If the children were at such risk then I hate to think that any student despite their age that attends that school could also be at risk of any future negligence on Brian's part. He either owns up to it or he should never teach again. Teachers of martial art schools have to hold themselves to the highest of standards to earn the trust of their students no matter the situation.
Thanks for keeping us up to date on people like this Rob, you always help keep the faith that the martial arts community can always do better. Hopefully Brian will learn this after this video.

Although background checks have been possible for a long time, I would assume few of us used to do them "back in the day" for a Dojo or for any other job around kids. Even still, do people now really do background checks on potential employees that will work around children? What is the law?

I don't think he knew. I don't think he did background checks and he was fooled. But like most people instead of owning up to what you do wrong, you try to avoid it and blame others. The problem with that is that until you own your mistakes, you can't fix them. There is zero excuse for allowing people that are not background checked around kids. Even with background checks you don't want adults around kids by themselves, have people in pairs or at least someone checking in. It is all of our responsibility to keep kids safe that are under our care.

Brian wrote this in the text message:
“Gary you're going to have to something supporting me that I knew nothing about this I've always had your back l've always looked the other way they're b owe this s*** up all over Tiktok and now they're questioning that I didn't know about it.”
The “I’ve always looked the other way” part is just one of many reason I personally believe he knew.

The part about not being alone with kids is super important. I volunteer at a youth camp every summer and this is something we stress to staff always. It protects everyone to have this policy. It protects the kid from any wrong doing on the part of an adult but also protects the adult from a false accusation. If a kid tells me you took them off somewhere alone and bad stuff happened, I have to take that seriously. Never being alone with a kid who isn't your own is the best policy.

He's not handling it well. I suppose the honest thing to do here would be to fess up that he hired a guy without doing a background check because he seemed like a nice/competent guy and he never thought that he might be a nonce. But that still makes him look pretty awful. Still, it's better to look like a dumbass in public than for people to think you actually knew and hired him anyway, I guess.

I own a social network marketing company (splash social marketing) and I get contracted all the time to be a digital spin doctor. He is not handling this the right way what so ever. You hit him and he's on the defense now and does not know how to defend himself in public relations.

The answer to both questions is No. It seems to me that he's trying very hard to deny responsibility and defend an indefensible position. Also, apart from the fact that he was mumbling throughout his video, how many times did he break eye contact with the camera? I'm sure he was looking down/away from the camera for most of the video.

Sadly, I would suggest that the overwhelming majority of martial arts schools don't do background checks. That's not to excuse Brian, but the issue is widespread.

He might be telling himself he's being honest while at the same time lying to himself. "I didn't post that" could mean he didn't personally post it, it's a business account he's responsible for but clearly not Taking responsibility for, or doesn't remember posting it. TLDR if he's not lying he's trying to do some mental gymnastics... poorly, and he just comes off shady.
