VOLTRON - Lion Force / Vehicle Team Combined Opening Sequence

- In the 1980s VOLTRON: DEFENDER OF THE UNIVERSE blazed onto our television screens. The show featured two mighty robots named Voltron: Lion Force Voltron, composed of five robot lions flown by five pilots, and Vehicle Team Voltron, composed of fifteen high-tech vehicles flown by fifteen pilots. Each Voltron's episodes had a distinct opening sequence. This fan video is a "what-if" opening sequence that would be common to both Voltrons.
This video was edited in 2012 by Greg Tyler using video and audio elements from:
* Episodes of VOLTRON: DEFENDER OF THE UNIVERSE, BEAST KING GOLION and ARMORED FLEET DAIRUGGER XV
* VOLTRON "Fleet of Doom" special two-part episode
* VOLTRON: DEFENDER OF THE UNIVERSE pilot episodes
* VOLTRON: DEFENDER OF THE UNIVERSE musical soundtrack CD.
This video is supposed to look like an alternate opening sequence that World Events Productions, the makers of VOLTRON, could have made in the 1980s. It is one or two seconds shorter than the original opening sequences, so it could theoretically be dropped in to replace the original opening sequence of each episode. This video lacks sound effects, because editor Greg Tyler didn't have access to the original sound effects elements.

Lion Force Voltron and Vehicle Force Voltron.
The term "Vehicle Force" was introduced in the early 2000s. In the 1980s, when the show was in production, "Vehicle Team" was used.
I really like this idea. Maybe people would’ve accepted Vehicle Voltron more if the intro was presented like this.

WEP created the Voltron series from 52 episodes of Beast King GoLion (renamed Lion Voltron), 52 episodes of Armored Fleet Dairugger XV (renamed Vehicle Voltron), 20 newly animated episodes featuring only Lion Voltron and the newly animated "Fleet of Doom" two-part story featuring both Voltrons. I wish WEP had broadened the scope of the 20 newly animated episodes, some featuring Lion Voltron, some featuring Vehicle Voltron and some featuring both robots... but that was not to be.
You know it's weird that until Voltron:The Fleet of Doom aired on t.v. there was no interaction of both Voltrons and the Space Explorers and yet in one of the Vehicle Voltron series where they got letters from home where Pidge's twin brother Chip was the only one to not get a letter from Pidge till the end of the episode and he read to Jeff and the others about what Pidge and the others were doing on Planet Arus and how Pidge said that Chip should be the head he was always the brains and it was funny that both Chip and Pidge piloted the left arm of Voltron where Pidge piloted the Green Lion and Chip piloted the vehicle unit that formed the upper part of his Voltron's left arm and the only other time they mentioned both teams was in the episode where Keith and Allura and the others were resting among some flowers and Pidge talked about sending a letter to his brother Chip and they go to showing the Galaxy Garrison ship the Explorer and Chip tells Jeff and the others about the letter and Jeff comments on how 'We are all a part of Voltron:The Defender of the Universe'.
Hi! Thanks for the detailed comment. There is at least one more reference to Vehicle Team Voltron in the Lion Force episodes. In the Lion Force episode "Summit Meeting," Drule Marshall Keezor -- a Vehicle Team character -- refers to Zarkon as the Drule Empire's associate in the Danubian galaxy, and he refers to the Lion Force as "one unit of the Voltron Force."

You would think after all this time instead of them doing a reboot they would have had the 3rd Voltron series come out. That way we coulda teamed all 3 Voltrons together. But unfortunately, I don't think that will ever happen.

Good theory of yours, greg, but Unfortunatley in reality, World Events Productions who's the creator of Voltron only made a 1-hour Team-up episode "The Fleet of Doom" that featured Both Lion and Vehicle Voltrons.
Ay greg, could you tell me what ep you isolated cullens narration from? if you can remember that is, as the mixing seems realy different on each ep and volume, ive only been able to isolate cullens vehicle force narration so far
Great question. As it's been several years since I made this video, I don't remember. I recall that I could only isolate Cullen's voice easily from a Lion Force episode. I couldn't isolate easily from the other sources -- a Vehicle Team episode, "Fleet of Doom," and a Voltron Trilogy intro.

IMHO, this is a great idea. However, you kinda botched up the voices. Peter Cullen's voice doesn't meld well with that sort of chop-shop voicing.

Learn to love both Voltrons, try taking the motto of Groot "I am Groot!"
There is only one named share by many Voltrons, many defenders of the universe.
I personally think Lion Force is over rated and Vehicle Force is under rated, unloved and hated unjustifiably by many fans, because they cling to the Lions legend too much.
Agreed! And both Voltrons are great. If I wanted to, I would consider both Albegas and Daltanious as Voltrons as well.
@@weprin2 I considered Daltanious as Gladiator Voltron since it more resemble both voltrons (Vehicle on the bottom, Lion chest and combined robot on the top)
