I’ll be travelling again for a 6 month trip to Macedonia a country in Europe. I have gone before for 3 months and carried a lot of supplies to the point that the airport security there thought I was reselling them and not actually a diabetic. Managed to save myseld with my drs certificate. I now plan to label everything with my pharmacy labels and everything goes into my carry on, I try to reduce the packaging so I don’t carry just boxes by putting somethings in a bag. I may even put 2 boxes in my suitcase if it becomes too much. Always tricky especially when you go somewhere it is hard to get supplies if you run out. I always pack extra!

Thanks for sharing Jen. Really enjoyed this vid and will put a lot of it to good use in 9 weeks when I jet off to Florida (first holiday since my diagnosis in June 2017). I bought a rubber wristband which confirms I’m a type 1 diabetic, I will take it with me just incase of any emergencies. Take care darling x

Great video. A lot of useful tips. Also , we are allowed to have an additional piece of luggage for our diabetes supplies. I’ve had it couple of times when I was going off somewhere for 4 weeks because it was easier as I was carrying so much stuff. I’m sure you know this but I thought I share it here anyway. I hope you have a nice time on your holiday and welcome to libre club 😆😊✌🏻

Thanks for all the great tips . The idea of taking a back up PDM was so smart .

Not sure about other pump companies, but Tandem (TSlim) has a letter on their site you can print out saying that you have a medical device that cannot go through the X-ray or full body scanner. I ended up just having to ask for a pat down (they didn't need to see the letter) which I didn't mind as I had to do that when I had a broken leg. I know some people don't like those, but I've never been bothered by it.

Recently I got a recycle battery charger for the AAA batteries for the Omnipod. Have you tried a rechargeable battery option?

Thanks for your tips nice to know how to try to cope if I ever went away, which I have never have done! so the video is handy to know! Would be nice or a good excuse to do another update on going away as we all know Technology moves on like the Freestyle Libre is available now and I was so lucky to be given a Dexcom G6 which is also available by seeing your Endo. Is It possible to take water through? What are we not allowed on a plane?

May I ask? Is your omnipod funded on the NHS? If so how were your able to get it funded in accordance with with NICE guidelines?

Hi there! Yes mine is funded on the NHS, I was approved under the category 'fear of hypos' which I believe you should be able to as well. It just depends unfortunately if your hospital offers this particular pump, which I appreciate is an issue. Hope that helps.

I myself is a type one diabetic. So when I go to the airport, I halted when they see my pump. it's like they have never seen one before. I have to tell them I have diabetes and I can't go though the body scan. some look at me like you are crazy. I hate that. then they have to use a person to body pat me. have u had this done too? should I bring with me a dr's note about the pump and the condition?
