Two differently configured bikes competing for the same market of 650’s. Having ridden both (to help a friend decide on a first bike), it’s nice to see the actual numbers. Thank you. He preferred the looks and feel of the team green machine, where I just couldn’t live with that lawn mower sound track from the 180 degree crank. If it was me, between the two, I’d go with the Suzuki and stick an aftermarket can (possibly a Yoshi) on the exhaust to release the sound a v-twin makes. 👍😎🇦🇺

I’m surprised the Suzuki seemed to do better on the top end. It’s what I bought, but only because purchase price plus insurance costs were less than the Kawasaki. The Z series from about a decade ago also seemed to be harder on my back when I sat on them. This confirms my suspicions about the SV speedometer, though. It seems to read WAY high…
I had rode both before i bought my 1st bike but i went with the sv650 , i just found it more comfortable and the v twin sound was what i preferred. In my opinion all round a better bike.
The SV has more Power, 75 hp compares to 68 hp of Z650. Therefore, we expect higher top speed. However, for daily commute and occasional touring, you don’t need this much power. Ergonomics, reliability, availability of spare parts has to be considered when buying a motorcycle.

@@robinhood6288 bist du dir sicher dass deine gedrosselt ist? :D 48 PS reichen eigentlich nicht aus für ein Nakedbike um 196km/h zu fahren. Außer bei Rückenwind und stark bergab. Als Beispiel: Eine Honda CB500 mit 58PS fährt 193km/h.
@@mototop_ ja meine wurde vom Kawa Händler gedrosselt und zum Tüv vorgeführt und alles eingetragen. Deswegen bin ich auch so verwundert, dass die bei euch gerade so die 200kmh knackt. die 203 kmh, erreiche ich sobald es minimal Bergab geht bei komplett gerader strecke bin ich bei 198kmh. Ich kann auch bestätigen das meine Gedrosselt ist da die nur bis 9000U/min dreht und die hat ja offen 12000 U/min.😅
Best of the Sv650: the sound of that V engine, nothing more then is clumsy and it feels heavier than the Kawasaki Best of the Z650: small and easy to maneuver, and previous models (Er6n 1st and 2nd gens are lighter and with more powerful engines, giving more power/weight ratio)
It not only depends on the rider. It also depends on the surface friction ratio, the weather (humidity, temperature, wind), the altitude, the power output due to emission regulations in the country, loaded fuel etc.
The fazer is just stupid and lazy under 5k/rpm! Throttle response 0! Only good at high rpm with constant shifting! While the SV can rush your adrenalin from anywhere, and can even surprise you! I know this firsthand as I have SV, and my friend fz6, so I can compare… And dont even let me start on how better it handles over the fazer anytime, anywhere 😉
Your SV650S is not naked, it has a fairing, that makes a difference. And is 185kph measured with GPS? If not you can't compare the speeds. And you have to consider, for example: to reach the double topspeed with the same vehicle, you need 8-times of power. So if you reach 100kph with 10hp, you need 8x10hp=80hp for 200kph. Just to show that you need much more power to gain speed.
@@tomas-eb6ti as you say: a 50hp bike is able to go OVER 160km/h. A bike with fairing (for example Supersport bike like a CBR600RR) can go about 190km/h with 50hp. So with 400hp you can go about 380km/h.

Nice video, I own a sv650x from 2018 and it seems like you slightly shortshifted from 5th to 6th. Yesterday I went about 206 in 5th gear (not gps)

the old Kawasaki ER-6 is said to be faster than the new Z650. Would be interesting to compare the old Kawa with the old Suzuki :)

The top speed of my 34hp restricted sv650S is 185kph, it's only 15kph more with a full 74hp ? That's disappointing
