@kptlt.phillipthomsen5973 Yes, but my point is that the handful of people who are digitally recreating this ship are doing so over a much longer time-scale and several times over, with numerous reworks and restarts and years of research that the original builders did not have to worry about. The cumulative total of man-hours may very well end up being similar.
@kptlt.phillipthomsen5973 When you think about the amount of electricity needed to run all those computers and render all those frames, the energy demand to build the Titanic digitally may equal the energy needed to build it physically.

Precisely. At various places, there were chains, ropes and pulleys mounted to the rafters in order to help lift heavy items up to and down from the workshop.
Stunning little video. Imagine how easy it'll be to fill all the spaces, that have exposed steel, once Kyle's work is done. I can't help but think this kind of detail will also make it possible to one day experience the sinking, steel bulkheads acting differently from flimsier wooden bulkheads.

I grew up in the 80's in a very remote area and unknown to me, people lived like in the 50-60's over there in houses built mostly in the 1890-1905 with barely any renovations. 401 always remind me of this. Its very difficult to explain. Being in a place locked in a distant past. Every little door handle, light fixture, cash register with actual number panels that goes up and down in a glass enclosure to display the prices.. Then I moved to the city and people had running water without hearing tok ko tok ko tok ko tok in the basement (pump) and unlimited hot water and buttons on the phone to make calls ! 401 has so much of that vibe especially with the linoleums which was everywhere back then. Everything with historical significance should be immortalized like this.

Please don't let this ever become abandonware. Also, will both versions include a sinking mode/experience? I think it's safe to say that's the main feature most people have been waiting for.
When the finished sim (game) is complete, will every room, area, and space be accessible to the player? By this I mean no locked doors that the player cannot access, no barricaded entry points with either suitcases or invisible walls? Has the entirety of the Titanic and I do mean the _entire_ Titanic been 100% modelled in all of its Honor and Glory?
@@ironhell813 Yeah I get that kinda feeling you may be right, but as the first commenter says, they don't want anything to be off-limits! So unless we get an official response, I guess we'll just have to wait and see!
A little clarification here: There's essentially two projects going concurrently. Project 401 (from all the old work/demos) will be wrapped up with about 50% of the ship, but THG (the renamed but newer project with Kyle building the steel structure), will indeed be aiming for 100% completion.
It's really extremely impressive the commitment you have to recreate the Titanic as faithfully as possible, but be careful not to get lost in thousands of hours of meticulous research for things as trivial as a piece of metal that no one will look at... You will be able to make updates when the game is already out, that's for sure, but there the priorities are not good in my opinion... This is just too much perfectionism at this point. And I know that your project is precisely to be perfectionist, but realize that there are thousands of people waiting since a decade now. And the reasons why they are waiting are not always of great importance... as i said, you can do these updates later, but this is just counter productive imo
Demo 401 & Project 401 don't include sheer and camber. They are the result of years of modeling individual spaces so things don't always align. But, with fully realized 'bones' the spaces are easier to create and, of course, explore.
curious how i would feel in the engine room of y'all's creation. my credentials are that i'm an oiler on the last operating wood passenger steamship in the us, the Virginia V, and I have worked as a wiper in the engine room of Jeremiah O'Brien, the liberty ship where the engine room scenes for the movie were filmed.

@fredvermeer4787 Yeah but how about what people paid for rather than a demo that's been doing the circuit now for years? Remember when James promised an alpha "this year" about four years ago? And that they'd changed their ways... 😂

@@MrsTavington They have shifted away from it being a video game I think, from the video at least, it'll be like an interactive museum with rich detail. You say now that when finished we will be able to explore 50% of the ship, but isn't 50% already explorable in the demo? So in other words you are saying that we will not be getting anything new apart from some graphic upgrades?
Wait. Is this ( 21:35 ) a new 2025 sinking animation? In the 2024 animation the lights forward on A Deck beneath the bridge were on throughout the animation, they’re off here.
I feel like the game should populated with sims of all the passengers, who recreate their known movements throughout the journey and sinking. If not known, then what would logically be expected for them, and then using creative license after. The gameplay can be recreated journeys and sinking, where you are able to explore the ship and watch the events unfold in real time. So there in theory is hundreds or more various perspectives to learn or experience from. You can also follow characters to see things play out from their POV. You could be the captain and watch him react to the events, or a random third class passenger. You would just need a time line of every passenger for the entire duration, all matched up with real world knowledge and then use AI to populate the rest, including conversations dialogue with other passengers and such. Every game play is a historical reenactment. For pivotal scenes your character might be ignored or disregarded, but in other moments, you can interact with all the characters and have conversation, learning about the persons real life via chatting etc…

So THG's 100% explorable ship is still on? So what makes 401 different besides being a 50% view using the older visuals?
Supposed to have museum exhibits added
But they haven’t started on them yet
Demo 401 & Project 401 don't include sheer and camber. They are the result of years of modeling individual spaces so things don't always align. But, with fully realized 'bones' the spaces are easier to create and, of course, explore.
I bought a stateroom 12 years ago
In that time the Costa Concordia sailed, was wrecked and was scrapped.
I honestly forget this project exists still...
Thomas Andrews would be proud
curious how i would feel in the engine room of y'all's creation. my credentials are that i'm an oiler on the last operating wood passenger steamship in the us, the Virginia V, and I have worked as a wiper in the engine room of Jeremiah O'Brien, the liberty ship where the engine room scenes for the movie were filmed.
Hi Matt!!
Now imagine the whole project being lost or deleted. A sense of what a shipbuilder might have felt in 1912
Well the penca guys house is burning down so it’s halfway there lol
finaly i have tried the last week to find out how its been going with titanic honor and glory but could not find anything
Always happy to see an update. I’m on PSVR2 so I won’t get to experience this any time soon. So excited though!
Keeping James and his family in our thoughts. Thankful the winds have calmed down.
The winds are getting worse lol
And you never know…
WOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW
Very nice work. Can we use elevators and how many rooms we can enter?
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put proper VR in both projects! PLZZZZZZZZZZZ
With all this great work completed already, I feel like it would be really nice to release it, so people can play around it, then we can do something while waiting for the final product. Or did I completely miss this might be a thing already?
Please refer to "Demo 401" which is that sneak peek that was released last year.
@@fredvermeer4787 Thank you! I'm guessing it would be on their website? Or it is available elsewhere?
@fredvermeer4787 Yeah but how about what people paid for rather than a demo that's been doing the circuit now for years? Remember when James promised an alpha "this year" about four years ago? And that they'd changed their ways... 😂
@ Oh, it sounds like The Isle. Another game that's been in an "early release" state because they can't prioritize what should be prioritized (they The shade of white on the walls doesn't matter to people -- in the least, it shouldn't be the priority. Making the game should be the priority, and details can be nitpicked later. They're spending too much time on things that don't matter (*or shouldn't matter until later!); we want to play a game, not just stare at pretty visuals.
@@MrsTavington They have shifted away from it being a video game I think, from the video at least, it'll be like an interactive museum with rich detail. We are not just staring at pretty visuals, we are admiring details from a lost ship, with no one left alive that experienced the tragedy. It's quite extraordinary and I don't really care how long it takes (I've been waiting 13 years), it's a product of passion and I'm so proud of the team! And demo 401 is incredible
Молодцы!!!
My dream is finally coming true ever since I was a 15-year-old boy when I first heard about the Titanic and the Olympic class liners RMS Britannic being my favorite Your guys passion for Titanic knows no bounds I thank you for the bottom of my heart This is what I wanted to do but I just didn't have the skills So thank you and keep up the good work Yes I will be buying a copy of Britannic plans Thank you for making those available They have all the decks and that's awesome Hopefully 1 day the Britannic Get the same treatment as Titanic To walk on a completed version of the Britannic would be awesome Sorry I'm asking too much But just to have Titanic is beyond words Thanks again One more question do you guys sell a digital copy of the gymnasium Titanic cutaway hi res I would like to make a replica of the picture frame with that cut away in it looks so like the one on Titanic So I can hang it on my wall Sorry for being long-winded I just have such a passion for the Olympic class liners I'm a bolt kind of guy Thanks
My contribution begins at 17:07 until 18:57
So that model is yours?
You say now that when finished we will be able to explore 50% of the ship, but isn't 50% already explorable in the demo? So in other words you are saying that we will not be getting anything new apart from some graphic upgrades?
That’s right.
Welcome to TH&G
Wait. Is this ( 21:35 ) a new 2025 sinking animation? In the 2024 animation the lights forward on A Deck beneath the bridge were on throughout the animation, they’re off here.
It is a 2025 RT Teaser lol
For pivotal scenes your character might be ignored or disregarded, but in other moments, you can interact with all the characters and have conversation, learning about the persons real life via chatting etc…
impossible to do
I want to play this on steam VR . Moving and sinking
A first-person character model? CJ mod when
When will it finally be on steam!?
I reckon at least another year for 401, and maybe 2 or 3, maybe more, for T:HG. We'll for sure get GTA6 before 401 or T:HG that's for sure lol
Longer than that.
How play on VR?
Still no mention of a Steam early access release for either THG or Project 401.
Come back in 2026 or 7
What are the limitations with Project 401's model?
It's complicated. My blockout and Kyle's structural model aim to solve those limitations.
One limitation is it has yet to be released ;)
Looks great! But as a fan of electronic music, I have to know! - what's the song/artist at around 9-9:30 mark? 😯
