I’ve never understood the problem with being sent perfumes for review either! No one minds if it is any other product as you say, like makeup / fashion / skincare so what’s the issue. Thoroughly enjoyed this vlog and story time Clémence, also I was very impressed when you mentioned that you planned to make 3 / 4 videos that day, I should step up my game! 💖

On the subject of bad experiences..in London, at least, the one big department store/whatever you wish to call it, that I’ve consistently had a bad consumer experience when fragrance shopping....is fortnum and mason! Which is a real shame, because I love fortnum’s and in all other parts of the store, the staff are lovely.

I find that the designer fragrance stores (TFS, TPS, Boots etc) have very, very little understanding of fragrance. I always have lovely chats and they are ever so kind, but they do not know what vetiver / oud is, they haven't heard of La Nuit de l'Homme and when they recommend Pepe Jeans, I kinda want to end the conversation. I love the vlogging btw. Very enjoyable!

I love your accent. Sounds naturally picked up from the locals to me. Some people pick up accents very quickly (like me 💁♀️) and some will never do. And we can also improve our hearing/spelling on purpose, this is part of learning a language, integrating with the environment we live in and it is beautiful too. Love from a language freak 💕😜

How amazing it must have been for the people who met you, when they came to look for parfumes - I wish I could have experienced that! 🤍✨ 🥰 People can be som mean, like they use their tiny bit of power in this life to spread something dark around them.
I totally agree with you. I also prefer buy my perfumes by retails. I buy on line only things I cannot find in the shops in the area where I live. Even when I buy on line I try to find the little, local shop that also makes on line service (I think most of them chose this way to better survive to the e-commerce competitors). Of course the experience in shops must be great. If I can't feel I am in a comfort place with pleasant people I go away and never come back.
I'm eyeing Caftan from the Vestiaire collection, so I went to the YSL counter at the Galeries Lafayette to smell it again and make sure I still liked it. I had an interesting chat with the SA. I didn't buy Caftan just then, well, because of budget, but as soon as I have enough spare cash, I will go right back to the same lady! A good experience in retail is important.
Thank you for this video vlog. I absolutely enjoyed it. I too have experienced issues of being judged when I go into a high end department store to smell/purchase fragrances. (Ex. being ignored not greeted etc.) They have no idea/ clue of how serious my fragrance game is. I have over 120 bottles and counting totaling more than 12K usd. Needless to say, I too did not give the snobs the satisfaction of the sale. Btw, I think you and your accent are lovely which is why I enjoy your content.
You're so right about how hard it is to make videos, and how much is spent with fragrances and samples every month... People are quick to judge but they don't know the hard work that goes behind the scenes! 😟
Exactly! Not that I'm complaining because I love it, but any content creator would say the same, it's hard work especially for those like me that have another work! Glad you agree!
@@clemenceccfragrance It's clear that you and other content creators love what you do! 😊 It doesn't mean it's easy, expecially when you have other job! I don't know how you find time to post on TH-cam, Instagram etc! 🙏🏼 I'm sure other people agree, but there's always someone who likes to say mean things... You really need to have thick skin to deal with such comments!
Yep I think you're learning with time, it was really difficult at the start and then you just learn to not care anyone! Thank you for your kind words, really appreciate 🤍
Dayan is so right, we know all the hard work, time and money that goes into your channel. You are a brilliant and unique fragrance reviewer and one of my favourites. I like to wear some masculine scents too, but felt that I had to keep it a secret before. Thank you for inspiring us Clemence! 🥰
At 6:27 you basically explained the reason why i never go to retail stores. Hearing that "you know it is for men/women?" would probably make me so angry that i could leave the store right there. Classifying scents, or almost everything, in gender it is so wrong, expecially on something "abstract" as a scent
This kind of thing happens to me quite often. It used to be more often than not but these days it's less. If I am shopping, fragrance or clothing - sales people will say " this is the women's section" - I say, "I'm sorry, I have no idea why you would think that I don't know where I am. Why on earth would you be telling me this?" It's embarrassing for them and for me. Which is why you should never gender people in service. ...OMG does your rabbit go outside and come home??
Ohhhh Thanks for watching Sally, it's lovely to see you here 🤍 The Belt is a Louis Vuitton (I treated myselft hahaha) and the tartan dress, Ive got nooo idea! I buy nearly all my clothes in vintage stores, it's cheap and you get some lovely pieces!!
I definitely understand how uncomfortable people can make u feel just because u walked into their line of sight it's crazy!! I know the type of environment I use to work in a salon (just from my experience that is!!) I do get uncomfortable going to try fragrances in store lol but my favourite place is Liberty in London 😊
Haha you made me laugh but I got you. My experience with fragrance shopping was mostly positive. The sales assistant were always happy to share their passion and knowledge for fragrances. I believe they were just happy to find another geek to talk to and not the usual customers 😂 But I had some unpleasant experiences in Sephora or Nocibe with people not knowing what they were talking about or even security agents following me like I was going to steal something 😆
Unpleasant experiences there, no doubt. I like speaking to supervisors/managers from the get go. Puts them on the spot to remedy the situation. If not, corporate ..... ❤️❤️
I hate fragrance shopping in stores. The always habe the nose up and asking to sample scents gives me always a bad feeling. And to be honest most if hem in going by notes. If they think you don‘t have much money they ket you feel. Therefore i prefer buying samples online.
@@clemenceccfragrance I remember being in selfridges years ago, and i knew more about the products than him, haha. Also a customer asked me what to buy for his wedding after i seen him looking confused🤣. But your right too. It depends where you shop.
But if i get judged and treated that way in designer scent stores and i would feel even more guilty when going into in stores that sell niche and exclusive stuff. Nah, i prefer sampling at home
Worst experience for me? In South Africa a lot of the assistants are paid on commission, so they need to be sharks 🦈 and can smell you coming. I was in a wheelchair at the time (for pain) and very new to it. He grabbed a hold of it and refused to let go until I had my nose on all of the perfumes. 😧 My Mom had to force him to release me. I never went back again. 🤣
Surely you could report that to the police? Because that wheelchair was like an extension of you, and so that would be the same as if he had grabbed you and not let go.
@@_rhea.b_1305 The police aren’t interested in things like that, there are more important crimes going on. Human rights mean different things in different countries. Not that I’m advocating treating people in that way, it is an abuse. With unemployment being rife people are desperate to feed their families and don’t realise they are stepping over the line. I think the pandemic has begun to teach us that we are all human beings with feelings too. 🤗
This happened to me in Paris too. I was about to leave the store, but I wasn’t even standing in front of the alarm and the alarm went off and then the security guard came up to me and asked to see my bag and he was acting really smug because I was clearly uncomfortable about being accused for no reason. And then I swung my bag in front of the alarm and it didn’t go off and then he was like hmmm ok. And I was like “you’re very rude” and he just started laughing. I wish I’d spoken to his manager.
The alarm went off as I was stepping out of the Geleries Lafayette. The guard asked to see my shopping bag. No biggy, he had a look and realised the cashier had forgotten to deactivate the security sticker on one of my purchases, so he did it for me and off I went. No offense taken: he was polite and doing his job.
Should've said "The only thing I'd steal is your lover." In any case, can't thieves smell nice too? All jokes aside, people take life too seriously. Hope you encounter people that make you as happy as your videos make myself, and so many others undoubtedly.
Am too understanding to get upset with sales assistants because they must have a tough life at times... But they could give out more samples with purchases.
Ah I understand. I worked as a sale assistant tho, its tough but your job is to take care of client so you shouldn't have those type of behaviour haha Also for the samples that is not their fault, samples are expensive and you usually don't get a lot given by the brand. Also to all the brand I've went to, it was two samples max by client. If you give out more you could have trouble with management so I understand 😅
(my comment went missing. Apologies if my words came out wrong. I was genuinely supporting *you* & your experience, not the women who were acting nastily. Not ever. Mostly I was commenting on this Brand thing. There's nothing wrong with accepting pmt for your work. I hate it when people are made to feel bad for that. very sorry.)
@@clemenceccfragrance Oh, good! :) You know how you can write something online and later think, oops, that could have been taken another way...?! 😔 Anyway, looks like my comment simply didn't post, which can also happen. (apologies for the sensitivity.)
Was it Roja Parfums? I remember you mentioned having a bad experience with them in another video! 😬🤐 9:20 😉 and two middle Eastern ladies. I think I know haha. Well 🖕🏼 them and their rude snobby service!
Bonne continuation 😊
Hahaha, I've had a couple of terrible experiences similar to the one where you were accused. It's funny because neither was at a place where they sell anything expensive - Kmart and King Soopers which are a big box retail store and a grocery store. First one the guy from assets protection just said I couldn't stand around and look at the fragrances, which were like Brut and Old Spice tier lol. At the King Soopers, this tall lanky dipshit security guard followed me outside and tried to get me to empty my bag because the alarm went off, and when I told him I wasn't going to he said he was gonna call the cops and they'd be looking for me even though I didn't steal anything 😂 As someone who's worked for 5+ years in customer service, and 4 of those years being in retail, that's not how you succeed. I talked to the manager at King Soopers and told him about it later, and I never saw that asshole working there again. I don't think you should have a job if you act like that until you learn not to do that, so hopefully the dude learned.
I can relate so much, how many times I went to a store to buy a bunch of stuffs and coming out, upset, with nothing because they were rude. And how many times I bought stuffs just because I liked the sales person. My worst experience was just yesterday, I went to a small store specializing in middle eastern perfumes. The guy was rude, treated me like shit. I wanted to prove him wrong, I bought 5 fragrances full price, (I didn't try them because I knew most of these fragrances.) Arrived home I realized that 2 of them are ostentatious fake, pure counterfeit, and one is broken. WTF! I'm not gonna say anything or write any bad reviews, I'm already too upset. I learned my lesson, I should have been faithful to my regular middle eastern perfume store.
@Vanille Fatale Yeah sometimes we do stupid shit, but I also was in a mood for buying perfumes. I'm pretty sure it was not a sales tactic, the guy was born rude.

I'm sure other people agree, but there's always someone who likes to say mean things... You really need to have thick skin to deal with such comments!
Yep I think you're learning with time, it was really difficult at the start and then you just learn to not care anyone!
Thank you for your kind words, really appreciate 🤍
@@clemenceccfragranceIndeed! 😊❤️🤗
Dayan is so right, we know all the hard work, time and money that goes into your channel. You are a brilliant and unique fragrance reviewer and one of my favourites. I like to wear some masculine scents too, but felt that I had to keep it a secret before. Thank you for inspiring us Clemence! 🥰
8:37 YASSS! That's awesome 🤣🤣🤣
Your brows look amazing, BTW. Show us one time? 😍
Owwww many thanks! Ok will do maybe one day!
At 6:27 you basically explained the reason why i never go to retail stores.
Hearing that "you know it is for men/women?" would probably make me so angry that i could leave the store right there.
Classifying scents, or almost everything, in gender it is so wrong, expecially on something "abstract" as a scent
I completely agree Federico,
Even tho I have to classify my videos as well, I wish things would change !
Awesome vlog beautiful, so here for this. I'm missing to go Fragrance shopping too! 😍
Owww Thank you so much Miya 🤍🤍🤍
This kind of thing happens to me quite often. It used to be more often than not but these days it's less. If I am shopping, fragrance or clothing - sales people will say " this is the women's section" - I say, "I'm sorry, I have no idea why you would think that I don't know where I am. Why on earth would you be telling me this?" It's embarrassing for them and for me. Which is why you should never gender people in service. ...OMG does your rabbit go outside and come home??
You have the perfect reaction, I so agree with that!
Great Vlog Clemence and if i get treated great in a store im also more inclined to buy something there
Totally agree!
Also, where is that monochrome tartan dress and belt from? Stunning outfit 🌷
Wonderful video Clémence thankyou for letting us into your day loved it🙏😻🙏
🤍🤍🤍
Our Tom Ford counter is also the best! 😍
Yaaaas Tom Ford always the best!
Beautiful!!! What's the lipstick and the color, please?
Lipstick is Rouge Allure Ink Fusion True Red by Chanel!
Oh gosh that 'thief' experience sounds terrible ! But that's so funny you went back to show them what you bought hahaha! 😂
And I love that penguin gif btw 😂
Hahahah I kind of knew you would enjoy this GIF hahaha! You know me I'm a drama queen always !
Merlin is adorable 😍 thx Clémence
Owww thank youuuu
Very glamous looking, down to earth, very informative with your fragrance reviews.
Just seen this comment ! Thank you🤍
Enjoyed. Bunny is too cute.
Thanks a lot!
I definitely understand how uncomfortable people can make u feel just because u walked into their line of sight it's crazy!! I know the type of environment I use to work in a salon (just from my experience that is!!) I do get uncomfortable going to try fragrances in store lol but my favourite place is Liberty in London 😊
Love to go shopping in Liberty, its such a beautiful environment !
@@clemenceccfragrance It certainly is and I love the building!
It's easy to tell it's your real accent, and one giveaway is that there are elements of a London accent on your French accent.
Haha you made me laugh but I got you. My experience with fragrance shopping was mostly positive. The sales assistant were always happy to share their passion and knowledge for fragrances. I believe they were just happy to find another geek to talk to and not the usual customers 😂
But I had some unpleasant experiences in Sephora or Nocibe with people not knowing what they were talking about or even security agents following me like I was going to steal something 😆
Oh yeah I usually get those reactions too!
Oh I hate when the security is following, its sooo uncomfortable!
Omg,, i love you . Thank you for your experiences .
Thank you Mark !
Unpleasant experiences there, no doubt. I like speaking to supervisors/managers from the get go. Puts them on the spot to remedy the situation. If not, corporate ..... ❤️❤️
Wow they better be nice with you John haha !
You are sooo pretty!
Owwww thank youuuu!
I hate fragrance shopping in stores. The always habe the nose up and asking to sample scents gives me always a bad feeling. And to be honest most if hem in going by notes. If they think you don‘t have much money they ket you feel. Therefore i prefer buying samples online.
They probably work on commission and just stereotype people quickly i think.
Well I depends where you shop, because manyyyy consultants are just amazing! It really depends !
@@Spiralnebel_GB Id test a few on skin, shop around and comeback before being influenced to much. Let it settle before buying niche definitely.
Beautiful skin !
Oh thank you Edith !
You must be joking!!!! Thats terrible!!! Psychopath really 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Gosh what an experience, sorry about that I hope you are not traumatised gosh
@@clemenceccfragrance I’m okay, 👌 I laugh about it now. Luckily I don’t need the wheelchair now, so they can’t catch me! 😂
Surely you could report that to the police? Because that wheelchair was like an extension of you, and so that would be the same as if he had grabbed you and not let go.
@Vanille Fatale Yes we do! 😂 It’s like the saying goes, “If you’re not laughing you’re crying, so laugh!”
@@iyzabel Ok but your story is completely valid, I wasn’t close enough to the door for him to ask to search my bags.
Whaaaaat! What a rude man that's terrible,
No worries bad karma on him!
You are gorgeous in the morning!
Owwww thanks! That's too nice!
Sometimes sales people are so snobby and rude... 😓 It's horrible...
Yeah it happens !
Yes!! Why? 🤔
Here for this!
Yaaaaas Tara 🙈🤭
I am the same way. You won’t get away. With it.
❤
That "thief" situation sounds awful, truly. I too would have been traumatized, and honestly would probably have handled it a lot worse than you did.
Thanks, glad you agree, I'm still so scared when an alarm goes on haha
Should've said "The only thing I'd steal is your lover." In any case, can't thieves smell nice too? All jokes aside, people take life too seriously. Hope you encounter people that make you as happy as your videos make myself, and so many others undoubtedly.
Omg I have to say that come back would have been FANTASTIC! 😂😂😂👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
OMG Alex thats a perfect punchline, thank you gonna use that for sure
I'm lucky I haven't been treated that way buying fragrance. Only makeup. Now I don't buy from those stores anymore. Customer service is everything.
Am too understanding to get upset with sales assistants because they must have a tough life at times...
But they could give out more samples with purchases.
Ah I understand. I worked as a sale assistant tho, its tough but your job is to take care of client so you shouldn't have those type of behaviour haha
Also for the samples that is not their fault, samples are expensive and you usually don't get a lot given by the brand. Also to all the brand I've went to, it was two samples max by client. If you give out more you could have trouble with management so I understand 😅
Always so captivating and interesting to watch & I can relate to you with this sales person !
Superb dear !! 👍🥰💖
Owwww so lovely, thank you so much 🤍
(my comment went missing.
Oh no don't worry Holly, I dont think I have seen your comment actually. Don't be sorry 😊😊
@@clemenceccfragrance Oh, good! :) You know how you can write something online and later think, oops, that could have been taken another way...?! 😔 Anyway, looks like my comment simply didn't post, which can also happen. (apologies for the sensitivity.)

Thank youuuu
Just as lovely au naturale, 😘
Oh merci 🥰🤍
Was it Roja Parfums? I remember you mentioned having a bad experience with them in another video! 😬🤐
9:20 😉 and two middle Eastern ladies. I think I know haha. Well 🖕🏼 them and their rude snobby service!
At the King Soopers, this tall lanky dipshit security guard followed me outside and tried to get me to empty my bag because the alarm went off, and when I told him I wasn't going to he said he was gonna call the cops and they'd be looking for me even though I didn't steal anything 😂
As someone who's worked for 5+ years in customer service, and 4 of those years being in retail, that's not how you succeed. I talked to the manager at King Soopers and told him about it later, and I never saw that asshole working there again. I don't think you should have a job if you act like that until you learn not to do that, so hopefully the dude learned.
Oh gosh what a story! Thats definetly not a good way to succeed indeed! You did well! Thanks for sharing this story
You need to go back to store and let them know. Give a taste of his own medicine. It’s unacceptable
@Vanille Fatale Yeah sometimes we do stupid shit, but I also was in a mood for buying perfumes. I'm pretty sure it was not a sales tactic, the guy was born rude.
Woooow what a story! Thats terrible indeed ! Yeah I guess it's bad luck as well, ah terrible. thanks for sharing this story Marine!
