@moisesangelogabutin lol i c this ‘|x|’ stuff in future maths when i was in 2ndary sch, this absolute value stuff is like grade/yr 6 stuff 😄. was wonder what ‘|x|’ is all about. man math is broad & has so many topics 🤯, so many methods or even methods that’re prolly undiscovered
I like this way of teaching absolute value rather than saying "it makes a number positive." It gets to be more important when you use the complex plane and such.
This concept works for weighted value, balanced score card, star graph charting. Think resource planning for a region and then mapping best locations for founding a city, etc... logistical burden type factors... Flip side for societies and individuals are the ranked choice, sliding scale surveys and such and the demographic predilections information inherently evidenced there
not tryna sound like a nerd/smartazz but math is seen as ugly & bland from the outside but its meaning is beautiful inside, impressive how humans have came up w/ a language that can calculate through formulas, who thought of pi, who discovered that a circle’s area is pie*r^2, etc. so does absolute value always have to b the distance from ‘0’ to ur example point only?
And that's another episode of things I should have known when I was 10
I felt that

amazing explanation, it made me understand that distance is the same in whatever direction you go in as long as it is the same absolute value.

No, you couldn't say " -3 miles relative to the school." horrible analogy. That make sense
