    Damnit, this is really mindbending in so many ways...
    Seeing one of the people that actually worked on the movie & stage prop re-do the robot based on a design from the outside community because the design made for the studio obviously is under nda...
    It really shows that you made your hobby your job!
    Looking forward to seeing how you implement the steering & stabilization with some proper control-loops!
    Could you maybe also give some explanation in some later video on how much you paid (material cost) for the parts?
    You usually tend to go for more 'professional' approaches on many parts which are interesting decisions to learn from.

    TH-cam really needs to add an option to invert the playlist. For these ones you have it really is better to have the new episode at the top. But i'm trying to watch these in chronological order from the start and. Well. It's a bit annoying to have to manually select the next one.

  • @Critters
    @Critters 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Im working on my own right now. My solution for the tire was to have it slightly smaller and its center of rotation slightly higher than the side wheels. This way the top of the tire lines up as yours does, and looks correct when viewed from kneeling or standing, but the bottom doesn't touch the ground. This way I can print it in hard plastic as I assumed that it would be hard to paint/weather a flexible (i've zero experience with flexible filaments, so that lack of knowledge also lead me down this path

    • @MattDenton
      @MattDenton  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. Yes I did have a simple thought with raising the rotation point, but I wanted to make sure the tyre turned when moving forward without having to have it driven.. I have no experience with weathering flexible plastics either 🤞

    • @Critters
      @Critters 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MattDenton yeah. Mine needs a 3rd motor. But in the up side, I'll be able to moonwalk ;)

    • @Critters
      @Critters 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MattDenton The other concern I had with a flexible tire was that when it squishes in it will want to spread out, and bind with the rims...but if you have it secured to the hard core it may be OK. Can't wait to see part 2!
