Yes, Lakeside is a really small community with limited healthcare, shopping, transportation, etc. I think it is about 3 hours from Phoenix, so not really practical for someone who travels by plane, needs specialized medical care, etc.
The fact that for hundreds of years people lived fine with smaller homes and raised families but now municipalities (with all the resource issues) force people to build homes larger than they need. There should be areas zoned for homes in the 300 -1500 square ft range. There is pent up demand for right-sized homes where you own the home and land. Sadly most developers to make massive profits and will price right-sized homes the same price as a 3,000 sq ft home.
I absolutely agree!! Not all of us want to rent a lot. To me, the expensive lot rents make it unaffordable for many, even though the tiny home is at a price point they can afford. In my area, you could purchase an affordable lot, but with zoning restrictions, you have to build at at least 1800-2000 square feet and more.
God bless this man for taking action. This is not possible in CA unless you convert an old mobile home park and are actually able to get it done. It is all a scam. If you don't own the land and you only rent, you will be paying that rent price until you the day you die or they take you tiny home. Buy a little piece of land and build you tiny house.
LOVE this guy's idea, mission and drive. Many continued blessings for him, his family and all the residents. We definitely need more communities like this and someone pushing tonmake it happen.
There needs to be more communities like this. I live in Canada and housing is so expensive for many people. This way more people could buy their own home and have a sense of pride. A small town in my area is actually building 3D tiny houses for the displaced youth.
Question will you own the land? If not, you will be paying higher prices down the road for renting the land or the landowner will sell the land to a corporation who only cares about making shit loads of money at any cost. They will force you to pay more money in rent or force you to leave because the rent is too high. Like they are doing right now to many trailer park residents and the landowners of the trailer parks.
Great job! Especially against all the obstacles that you had. They need these communities all of the country so people can afford their own home and feel pride in taking care of what they have!

@@lvbadboy not everyone that is homeless is an addict or alcoholic. Missing hours or a pay check can make someone homeless. Making under $1000 a month can make a person homeless!!

Did you miss the update on the approval for the universal building code include standard specs for tiny home builders, developers, etc. For the benefit of all, its a big win.
@@Rchl.Campos, That doesn't mean that it is automatically accepted by government officials in communities, cities or states. Local ordinances are written by local "politicians," or even neighborhood/subdivision builders. They can set the minimum square foot acceptable to build a home there.
I really like this. Every state needs more Tiny home places like this. In my community you are not allowed to have a vegetable garden. We have lots of rules.
It's hard to imagine a group of people sitting around a conference table and voting to have rules so hateful and ignorant, that they won't even let people grow food. If we don't fight back to turn things around, America is going to collapse.
That can be rescinded if the community is in need. Denial of access to any good thing is unfair, imo, access to all resources was given to all humanity to sustain the physical coat of armor that keeps the strength and power of each in good charge.

We need places like this here in Australia as an option for affordable housing. Unfortunately, we have a lot of bureaucracy and outdated housing regulations that makes it difficult or impossible to do something like this.
Couldn't agree more. The price of housing over here is ludicrous and I feel so sorry for the younger crew wishing to enter the housing market. It'd be great to see these types of communities around Australia.
I lived in one of these trailer parks before when I was too poor to afford a house. Of course back then it cost less than a car to own one twice the size and the lot rent was a LOT cheaper lol. It's amazing to me what people will overpay for.

I love what he’s done and so many would love to have this in Georgia. That first house that he said was a rental would be perfect for me especially if it’s under 75k.
I live in Ga as well. The reason we can’t have this are the zoning regulations. They want you to make the home at least 1500 sf in most counties…& put them on a minimum of an acre. Smh.

Well, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reports that the typical American household uses over 300 gallons of water per day but the typical tiny house uses about 1/10th that and is typically much more energy efficient...

I have actually thought about designing and making a sort of village for the homeless using an unused warehouse and I've had this idea since high school. But now that I have seen this video, I realized that I was thinking about a tiny house community using space that has already been made. I wonder if it could happen somehow.
I know of a very small elementary school that had been vacant for many years. It has been converted into low income housing for senior citizens. Being of utilitarian cinderblock construction, the buildings aren't visually appealing. But, they now serve an important purpose in the neighborhood.
I think there is a guy who have build a tiny house community for the homeless in LA, but there it seems many of the homeless have a lot of drug, trauma and mental problems. I have seen several videos and interviews with guys that work around there, its very difficult. I guess you have to really think it through, so you don't build a super dysfunctional community that is unsafe to be in. I'm all for more affordable tiny houses, it should be a right to own an affordable place.
Check out Square One Village in Oregon. They're a really neat group of folks who are doing some seriously helpful work for their community to solve the homelessness problem. They might have 3 villages going on 4 right now. Blessings!
This would be a great project to bring to Chicago. There are areas here on the South Side of the city that would be great. 🙏🏾 This is definitely Luxury Tiny living🏞️
You do such an amazing job with this channel! I have offered harsh criticism from time to time regarding my differing environmental views, but you still create great content that keeps me thinking and interested in the tiny house concept. If you guys can convert even your "haters" (like me), then you know you are doing an A++ job.
One of the first and most important things that I see is that this is NOT a 'cookie-cutter' community. It's interesting that every home looks different and adds to the diversity of this community.
We need communities like this across America. We've been a nation of homeowners since our early pioneer cabins. Greed has forced so many out of their homes. The tiny house movement solves so many problems. I commend this developer.
Maybe reach out to this guy via snail mail and write him asking for advice on what your first steps could be. I am not sure which part of Mesa you are in, but maybe somewhere out along University Road and Ellsworth area could be pretty. The neighborhood along the lightrail closer to Tempe might be more forward thinking as well??? Here's a toast to your bravery and strength. We need more people like you and him.
A community playground and pool would be great additions. Also lighting and landscaping will put it over the top for desirability. Each home looks great. A follow up video to see the completed community would be nice.
I really think these neighborhoods are so cool HOWEVER it is also saddening knowing that this is a direct implication from inflation. Also these houses are becoming so expensive also 😢
If only this was in Nevada... I am looking forward to purchasing my first, and hopefully only, tiny home. I love that LuxTiny isn't run like an HOA. The creator of this community knows what homeownership should be like, and he has made it happen. This is exactly what I am looking for in a Tiny Home and it's surrounding community.
This what I have been researching. I’ve been looking for land. The code business is what I’m trying to learn. We have a tiny community already here in GA but I want some land to do this for many of those of us that can’t afford these expensive houses nor who want huge homes especially those of us that are finally nestfree. I would love some info on what to ask, etc.
I love the creativity put into them. I was questioning why people don't use their regular homes as a creative pallet, BUT it quickly occured to me how much more economical it would be for a smaller space. I know I'm expired.
I’ve never commented here before but I just love this community! Very much worth the fight and the houses are beautiful in their distinctive buildings. As a Canadian I’d like to see a little more “green” around the houses and maybe even in between some of them but other than that I can honestly say that I’d love to live there! Bravo! GB 🙏😃👋🏻🇨🇦
It's a desert so keeping it green can be hard depending on the plants. If they aren't ment for the desert then they will use a lot of water to keep them green
@@rickmclee2889 Actually, it’s not in the desert, but in the mountains close to forests. They get snow in the winter and there is a ski resort nearby. Northern Arizona is different than the southern desert. But it is dry and water is probably an issue.
@Karen Prophet-Lacasse Watch the follow up video where the couple has two of these tiny homes in Luxtiny. That guy is helping to plant MANY trees all around the community so that in a few years there will be much more greenery.
I know he has limited space to work with, but I'd love to see more of these tiny house communities in more unique layouts, with larger lots and more space between units. This layout feels more like a RV park.
This reminds me of Verano student housing at UCI. My 3 kids and 2 adults lived in a 2 bedroom apartment but it worked. They're some of my fondest memories because of the community. There were multiple playgrounds and of course the beach 10 minutes away, but he could put a pool and Jacuzzi in Luxtiny! I think it's awesome!!!
Isn't this a trailer park? With a modern version of trailers? I have a larger apartment in a European capital and pay the same for rent as they pay just to rent the space. Tiny houses cost too much in my opinion too. Last video I watched, someone bought a huge house with huge land, perfectly maintained and furnished with antiques, really beautiful house, for 200.000 dollars. A tiny house should be very cheap. No more than 30.000 because it is tiny and with no land coming with it.
Are you taking reservations for spots for phase 3 yet?? I want to be on a list. My husband and I will be out in AZ in January and would like to schedule a tour.
You might want to contact him via his own website just in case he doesn’t see your comment here. Good luck with getting a space there. He seems like a good guy and it would be a good place to live. I love the community gardening idea and also the gathering place he’s planning. A firepit would be good and maybe a small stage area for those who have musical talents.

Thank you so much.
Good for you !! I am so glad you kept pushing through all the red tape, so people can have a home of their own. I hope you can continue to aquire land and build for people. The city/county/state/fed gov't act like they don't understand, care or both that people need a place to stay, a home. I am so greatful for alternative living. You may not own the land, but at least you have something with your name on and close to homesteading. They continue to create these situations to make buying a regular stick and brick home unaffordable, out of reach for the average person. The working Joe should be able to have a home without becoming house poor, filling up the pockets of Greedy landlords. Oh yeah we do live in a capitalistic country, where compassion and humanity is not that much of a priority. These communities are the only way I would be able to have a home. This country needs more of these options.
Some problems are worldwide but many Americans think the world evolve about them
I live in Phoenix, AZ and this is the first time hearing about Luxtiny. Very nice, so glad to find out about it. We need more of these in Arizona. Cost of living is sky high!
Same over here in San Tan Valley!
We need it out here in Sun City and wickenburg
I vote Mesa
Yes, Lakeside is a really small community with limited healthcare, shopping, transportation, etc. I think it is about 3 hours from Phoenix, so not really practical for someone who travels by plane, needs specialized medical care, etc.
I vote every city needs this here in AZ. It would really help out with how fast our state is growing and help provide affordable housing.
I'm looking forward to downscaling in the next couple of years and I'm not sure where I'll be going, but I so look forward to being in a community of like-minded people.
Indeed God bless him.

I live in Texas - born & raised & I’ve been watching this channel for a while and this video has really Inspired me. I would really like to start a tiny home community down here in Texas just like this w affordable living. W similar amenities, the TEXAS way. It’s really over crowded in the city(s) and crime is just getting worse. Safe spacious communities like these are gonna be needed in the future. Everyone deserves a piece of PEACE.
One day.
I saw this before but I am glad to see it again because I live in Arizona. My husband and I hope to see this in person some day. I have been watching Tiny home channels for years now and maybe someday might even get a tiny home of my own. Thanks to the owner and developer who pushed to make this happen in the great state of Arizona! 😁👍
He did a great job. We have been here since 2019 and enjoy our tiny home.

Always good to see one of your videos pop up on my home page. Good to see this man’s tenacious attitude and vision come to fruition.
What this man has done is a fantastic idea! More states should incorporate this and his way could be a possible blueprint to get it done.
Great job! Especially against all the obstacles that you had. They need these communities all of the country so people can afford their own home and feel pride in taking care of what they have!
This is my dream! To build a community in my area in California. Thank you for sharing your story! Bless you, you family & community. I’m still on the hunt for the acres. This is life changing.
I would love a tiny area like this in California. I live on the east coast and want to get away from winter. As I get older winters get harder.
Arizona needs alot of these communities. The cost for rentals is so high, people can't afford it. This would help with the homeless situation also.
Rehab would help the homeless
@@lvbadboy not everyone that is homeless is an addict or alcoholic. Missing hours or a pay check can make someone homeless. Making under $1000 a month can make a person homeless!!
@@MelissaMalzahn A lot of homeless are that way because they are addicted, this needs to be addressed not “looked at with compassion”. Compassion is giving someone the help they need not let them suffer in filth. Now seniors are experiencing 30% homelessness this is economical, also rising cost for rent nationwide and equity funds turn houses into a business is driving this but lets not pretend homelessness wasn’t a issue prepandemic. Those in tents and covered in dirt are not working people of society. We have two different homeless crisis happening those who are honest working people trying to stay afloat but be devoured in declining economy. and those who are heavily drug addicted.
@@lvbadboy yes there is different circumstances that cause a person to become homeless. Rehab only helps when that person finally admits they are addicts, or alcoholics. I was a function drunk for 20 years, I raised my son as a single parent making $5. An hour, I paid my bills and kept a roof over our heads. I've been sober 16 years, but have been on disability since 2003, making $942 a month.. The prices of everything was affordable, now a days a person making $10 an hour has to pay $5 a gallon for gas to get to said job, plus child care, medical, housing, utilities. I can not rent because I do not have 3x the rent as income. I'm 58 years old, I'm living w my mother taking care of her, once she passes away, I become homeless because I can't afford to rent or buy. The country needs affordable housing, closing up our borders. Giving people a lift up not a hand out!!

What a lovely man with such a fantastic ethical vision for a community. I hope your phase 3 turns out just as good as the first two!
It always amazes me that after all the years of people living tiny, of all the videos about tiny living it just blows me away the level of ignorance about it. There’s no code adjustment, no anything. Congratulations! It was worth fighting for!
Did you miss the update on the approval for the universal building code include standard specs for tiny home builders, developers, etc.
For the benefit of all, its a big win.
@@Rchl.Campos I guess I did! Excellent news!!
@@Rchl.Campos,
That doesn't mean that it is automatically accepted by government officials in communities, cities or states. Local ordinances are written by local "politicians," or even neighborhood/subdivision builders. They can set the minimum square foot acceptable to build a home there.
They don't look tiny to me..
Thank God for people like you Sir!Thank you for helping others !🙏
I really like this. Every state needs more Tiny home places like this.
In my community you are not allowed to have a vegetable garden. We have lots of rules.
It's hard to imagine a group of people sitting around a conference table and voting to have rules so hateful and ignorant, that they won't even let people grow food. If we don't fight back to turn things around, America is going to collapse.
That can be rescinded if the community is in need. Denial of access to any good thing is unfair, imo, access to all resources was given to all humanity to sustain the physical coat of armor that keeps the strength and power of each in good charge.
This is a place I could definitely live . . . if I had any money at all to buy a tiny home. People like me who live in crummy, ancient & falling apart trailers because they're all they can afford, dream of such place. Well done! Keep up the good work. We need ten thousand people like you with vision and gracious generosity.
I love his attitude and his concept of community + affordability....well done!! I know that these folks are truly happy to be living the simple, good life.
The world needs more of these communities.
What a great idea. Tiny house living is the future, especially with today's cost of living. Man I wish we had a community like that here in Quebec, Canada. I would live there in a heart beat. Good job to the man who created it, and thank you for sharing. Hopefully, it will inspire others to do the same.
Hi. There are tiny house communities in Quebec. Look it up :)
We are FINALLY having our 2nd tiny house built in LuxTiny!! We are beyond excited! We are planning to move to Lakeside this summer. We currently live in our Hekkert Hideaway tiny house in Mesa Arizona. We absolutely love tiny living! Thanks for sharing this beautiful community with us!
My dream is to live in a tiny house in a community that everyone knows and cares of each other. Hopefully one day I will. Thank you Jenna for this nice video as usual 👍👐
I love all the natural light in these homes.
Love this guys vision! Homes are beautiful and I love the fact that he is open minded to letting people actually live and not be so restricted. I'm in a retirement village and the rules are ridiculous.... If I was younger I'd look in to moving there but I'm by myself on the East Coast and it would be too much of a stretch to do at this point but I truly hope this guy keeps his vision alive and continues to let people live in their spaces instead of exist.... Looking forward to seeing the sneak peak video in full!!
Thank God for people like you and I'm a Black American who is a humanitarian who loves people and no matter who you are I see you as a human being. 🙏 YESSSSSS!!! 😊😘☺️

I love this! Thank you for all of this, it’s one thing for someone to have an idea, but then to see someone bring the ideas to life is awesome!!
I love that guy, he fought through and won. He’s done a great thing. Hope he has help, can’t do that all alone, and raising his young children too. Didn’t see the mom, hope she’s ok. Beautiful community, God bless them.
Love, love, love this guy and his vision!
I really love what he’s done. I do kinda agree- while it’s pretty out there - it is kinda set up like a park. I would really like to see more of a yard and some privacy.
Thank God for this man's ingenuity, courage and foresight.
I am waiting for information on phase 3, because this is where I want to live.
The concept, the community, the mission, and the gorgeous area is perfect.
Looking forward to the future development. Seeing Luxtiny in this video is wonderful.
Doesn't the universal building code include the area you are referencing?
I lived in one of these trailer parks before when I was too poor to afford a house. Of course back then it cost less than a car to own one twice the size and the lot rent was a LOT cheaper lol. It's amazing to me what people will overpay for.
Jenna, I love your videos of tiny home community entrepreneur / creators. This is an interesting subset of entrepreneurship. Love these guys' passion! Thank you for posting
Thank you!!
Smh.
Same vision and affordability as Randy Jones in Tennessee
We have a tour of that one too! Link to other tiny home communities in the description of this video.
There is enough people with money like you that could put money into community’s like this for us people that can’t afford the home and land rental prices of today❤️
I'm so glad this guy pushed for a tiny home community. Even though it was not easy I am happy he didn't give up.
Now in 2022, more people are becoming homeless because of the high cost of apartment rent and also mortgages went up.
With the cost of living skyrocketing in 2022 and salaries not going up, people are turning to other options to live.
I wanted to build something very similar in Texas a few years back.Im so happy that someone has built something afforable, beautiful to live in. I would to vist the community some day. Great job!🏡

Reminds me of a trailer park honestly but I do like that these are real homes
@@larsstougaard7097 I agree with you!! Paying a little amount will reduce dysfunctional system

No affordable housing for those who serve the tourists of Sedona!
One of the first and most important things that I see is that this is NOT a 'cookie-cutter' community. It's interesting that every home looks different and adds to the diversity of this community.
Absolutely a wonderful idea, and he brought it to life! Well done Brother!
We need communities like this across America. We've been a nation of homeowners since our early pioneer cabins. Greed has forced so many out of their homes. The tiny house movement solves so many problems. I commend this developer.
I would be all in if they had one in the Mesa Az area. I have a design in mind and would love to live tiny.

Where in GA is a tiny community? Lake Burton?

The linearity of the 'RV Park' layout is unappealing, but at least the community exists for tiny houses on wheels...
@@rickmclee2889 Actually, it’s not in the desert, but in the mountains close to forests. They get snow in the winter and there is a ski resort nearby. Northern Arizona is different than the southern desert. But it is dry and water is probably an issue.

So it's a TRAILER PARK IN THE DESERT NICE
Yes. I thought it was good until the man said they don't own the land.
It’s not in the desert, it’s in the mountains.
Hats off to this guy for what he has done here.
