    Nice project Bob, looks great.
    One cheat for fixing splits etc etc is right after you add glue to repair it, hit it with a random orbital sander and the sawdust that isn't pulled in with dust collection will actually add the wood color to the glue, so it will blend in nicely.
    Good stuff, keep on keeping on.

    The thing I like most about how you produce your videos is how thorough you are in describing what you're doing. No detail is too small, and for someone like me that doesn't make stuff, it's really engaging to hear the process as I see it happen.

    • @Iliketomakestuff

    Adding a brass tube to the base with a lamp behind the phone would look nice and provide additional support for the phone (just to make sure that the tiny plug does not get damaged if bumped while charging). Keep up the great work and continue to motivate makers everywhere.

    Hey Bob! great video! I make a phone dock that I sell on etsy and I've found the easiest way to carve out the notch for the wire is with a dremel and the round carving bit and a straight edge and a few passes is the perfect size for these wires. The chiseling worked out great, just an extra option. Keep up the great work!

    My only suggestion would be to use braided sheathing and heatshrink to combined the two cables out of the back of the dock, and use a twin-port USB charger at the other end so it's all cleanly packed into a single unit. otherwise, it looks really good and the watch hides the white charge pad nicely

  • @mactipiak

    It looks brilliant. Too bad the tiny piece hiding the beginning of the cable beneath the circle of the watch charging base couldn't be glued back to just have the white circle. (the part that is removed at 2:13 ) Or maybe a wood veneer all around would allow the watch to charger with no base visible?

    Quick suggestion, you could have used a router to create the channels for the cables. This would have prevented the cracking of the wood, as well as being much cleaner.

    • @Iliketomakestuff
      @Iliketomakestuff  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I could have but holding down such a small work piece safely would have taken a little bit more. Hot glue MIGHT have held it down, but routers run at such a high RPM, it wasn't wort the risk.

    • @Steamroller17
      @Steamroller17 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I Like To Make Stuff that's a good point. I probably would have used the router table in a unsafe manner :)
