Great, project. I'm making a couple of my own out of cherry. Any chance you are going to post the second video with the LED and electrical part, my personal weakness.
Pro tip: NEVER use the fence when making crosscuts - always use a miter gauge when cutting across the grain of wood to avoid kickback on a table saw. Good luck and safe travels for anyone who might attempt this 👍🏻
Very nice. I got some extra cord so i might try one for mine and wife's phone. One thing i would have suggested is use flush mount screws to bottom so if have to get a new cord.
The first thought I had when I saw you use the table saw was "use a riving knife" I've been woodworking for years. Table saw injuries are horrible. I'm glad your injuries were minimal.
Martijn Fransen While a riving knife is a good safety feature for preventing kickback, I don't think it would have helped with something that small. They are used to keep a board that you're ripping from pinching the blade on the back side of the cut.
The riving knife is exactly what this is for. To prevent the work piece from slipping behind the blade and getting launched at you. As soon as I saw your first table saw cut I said out loud 'where is the riving knife?' and then I saw you again with black eyes and knew what happened immediately. Make a cross cut sled for small pieces and use the riving knife when not using the sled. I hope you are still alive to be reading this post.
That turned out really well guys! I was wondering what was up with the frosted bit in the middle...then I saw it lit up and I totally get it. Really good idea.
Pretty awesome, only a couple small suggestions, you should have future-proofed it because now it's limited to only an iPhone that size, you can't get a bigger iPhone in the future or one that is thicker or possibly even thinner, also I think you should have hidden the watch cable to give it a clean front look, but that's just my opinion, still very nice
+Mike and Lauren Curious where you guys went with splicing the wires to only use 1 plug later on. If I am not mistaken the iPhone 6 and forward support fast charge allowing you to charge your iPhone at 2 amps vs the regular 1amp or 500ma. Add that to whatever current the apple watch draws (I would guess between 500ma and 1amp) and you'll find yourself wanting a USB power block capable of producing 3amps through a single port if you want the fastest charge the phone is capable of. Look forward to hearing what you guys did! Cheers, and great video! also subscribed ;)
What We Made Ultra-High Molecular Weight is a polyethylene, little different then High-Density, but pretty close. I would have preferred to use King StarBoard (a HDPE) instead of the UHMW. Cleaner look. I'll be doing mine totally out of StarBoard I think, probably sandwich two different colors. You can't clue HDPE well so I'll probably screw from the bottom.
It`s good but I cannot make such thing at home. I wish I can get a charging dock that charges all the smart devices like iPhone 6, Apple watches, Gear2, and others.
+DIY giveaways & tutorials Local cabinet shop maybe. Where I live there is a luxury RV manufacturer that throws away way too much walnut. We dumpster dive there quite often.
Interestingly enough, I watched you using the tablesaw (incorrectly) and thought, oh you are going to hurt yourself doing that. You shouldn’t push a piece through with a hand on each side of the wood unless you’re cutting a really large piece. I know people do it, but will bite you eventually. Get a push block that puts downward pressure on the piece against the fence. Not saying this is how you injured yourself btw.

Looks awesome!!! But...who takes their watch off and then clasps it again to charge it?
Always respect your power tools kids, not saying he didn’t, just a sober reminder even small pieces can cause a lot of damage.
It looks so cool
BTW...... I'd definitely buy one. Can't wait to see the LED version!

Sweet project, hope everything heals up good for ya.
Shop built Thanks, feeling better today.
nice video, you schould check out my channel would be cool

That is TOO GREAT TO BE HANDMADE, WELL DONE BOYS!
that socket for phone is spot on, how did you manage to be so accurate when pouring in epoxy.
And that's why safety glasses are so important kids! :D
Thats great guys!! I like when young people make this kind of ART.
great finished product, do you have measurements for board and watch holder
You should sell these. The end product came out amazing.
What other kind of material would look good in the middle. Thinking about making one
looks good!! would have looked even better with the cable for the watch hidden
what if you have a case for iphone? will it fit the space you have carved out?
It looks so cool! If I had the tools I would definitely give it a try.

Do you have any problem gluing the hdpe with epoxy?
Any way to splice the watch and iPhone chargers so that you have one cable?
This looks amazing, probably gonna be the first thing I build when I get my Apple Watch soon 😁
What was the total cost to make it?
DLPeace $3 dollar scrap of walnut, $10 dollars for the plastic, $340 dollars for stitches...
diy charging stand on top of the diy table, living the diy dream :D
Juel Pereira Haha for real!
Ah! Sharp chisels! Nice to see. Usually on these hybrid channels they don't know how to maintain tools!
Have to add on the Chargers also
how did you cut a whole into the plastic part for the watch charger , what size bit did you use?
What's the thickness of the "plastic" and for the leds did you just put them under the plastic or you cut the plastic to put them inside??
Felix Blaquiere The plastic was 1/2 inch. And we just cut the wood underneath and put the LED next to the plastic.
Thanks
nice work Mike👌 why don't you use a riving nife?

Great job. How did you glue the plastic cutting board to the timber ?
Any thoughts about adding LED lights under the base to make the white plastic glow?
+Kevin Adams Never mind. I should have finished the video. Looks good.
Can u leave a link where I can buy all the materials. Great video by the way and hope you are feeling better!
Riley Luth It was just scrap wood from the lumber yard, no links sorry :(
What kind of table saw blade did you use to cut the UMHW? Ie, tooth count, tooth cut type, etc. Thanks and it looks great!
Hi dear mike
What was the spray that you sprayed on the wood that made it look fascinating pls tell me
Tnx
ali behbahani It's called spray lacquer.
That turned out really well guys! I was wondering what was up with the frosted bit in the middle...then I saw it lit up and I totally get it. Really good idea.
The Proper Gents Thanks!
Is it possible for you to give the dimensions of the base?
+Justin Vu Sorry, I don't have it anymore. I gave it to my friend.
Thank you so much anyways!
Anyone know what LED would be ise for this?
Hi, love the charger. What adhesive did you use to join the timber to the plastic cutting board.
How do I get one. :)
I like this project very much😍
thats so nice good job
Hi what is the name of the glue that you used to bond the plastic to the wood?
+jack Hockett It was 5 minute epoxy from home depot.
Would be much better if you hide the cabels for the iWatch charging unit ...
nice work mike
Why you no sell !!! I need you sell lol
This looks awesome great look to it.
Dude don't mess with the table saw, awesome project hope it was worth the pain.
Cheers
Tim from wood 4 nothing
What did you use to hold the cord in place
I don't remember if it was super glue or 5 minute epoxy.
+Mike and Lauren okay thanks for the super fast reply and amazing work on this it looks fantastic
Great work! I hope your nose is better by now!

Wow that's brilliant
If I had that I would love it 😍😍😍😍
love the stand though!
Nice work...
what did you spray?
+Adrian Morales Satin spray laquer.
Really awesome❗️❗️ you should make a ton of these sell them for $50 and you'll make thousands trust me!
woah neckbeard
That's amazing!
Awesome video
My Tech Vids Thanks
This is awesome I'll buy one! Name your price haha, also sorry about the injury mike
Gabe Pages Thanks! I'm not really looking to make them, but I'll let you know if that changes :)
Thank you!
At the first moment i thought you distroyed his iphone and he punshes you 😂
sunc93 HAHA! Darn it! I should have said that.
dammnnn that looks so nice
nice, you can use it with a case...
It would be perfect if you somehow could hide the white cable from the apple watch charger ;)
Amazing!
How do I but one
That weird plastic is HDPE (High-density polyethylene) I believe it's the same thing that milk jugs are made of. Recycle number 2.

LMAOOOO YOU GOT KNOCKED TF OUT
I built my Apple Watch stand too out of Legos
oh man, glad you are okay. Going back to table saw footage and saw there wasn't a riving knife ='( ='(
It`s good but I cannot make such thing at home. I wish I can get a charging dock that charges all the smart devices like iPhone 6, Apple watches, Gear2, and others.
öncelikle geçmiş olsun..süper olmuş ince işçilik...
This came out cool! Does anyone know where to get scrap walnut pieces? Thinking about making something similar.
+DIY giveaways & tutorials Local cabinet shop maybe. Where I live there is a luxury RV manufacturer that throws away way too much walnut. We dumpster dive there quite often.
Now you will always remember when charging your apple watch you got hit in the nose with a peace of the charging station
It wasnt for him
+Mike and Lauren That thing looks classy. definetly a kickstarter item
btw hows ya nose bro?
+Suryashekhar Das Thanks! Nose is healing fine. The bottom scar is still pretty visible, but the top part is starting to fade.
This came out looking amazing! Sorry to hear about your nose. But great job on this. Wouldn't be interested in making me one would you?
Arthur Seabra Thanks! I've had a bunch of interest. If I decide to make a few more, I'll make a video about where to buy them.
Awsom look
Thank you
Can u make me one and how much
why are we not funding thius!! Lol awesome stand
+Musica20009 Haha, we accept cash or check. Just kidding, we're not selling them, sorry....
Perfect
DOPE. Great job dude. In many cultures, one is not considered a man until they're stabbed by a piece of wood.. lol
Would you guys building me one like that so I can purchase it?
You should start selling these
Poor design, all the weight of the phone stays in the power connector
awesome
Well this is a little dumb but they made protection for this stuff for a reason just saying....
Take my money!
Taka Iguchi Sure! How much should I take?
Are you guys selling these for real?
Taka Iguchi Sorry, no.
I want one

You could sell that for like $75.00 U.S. Easy
I would pay 200 bucks for that no problem
Can u make one for me?
looks like UHMW
wow!
Thumbs up if you have no clue who the fuck "Ryan Parker" Is! haha
Cool
