But for me, the most important thing is not whether a method is right or wrong, It's about experiencing firsthand why it works or fails.

If you make your templates from cardboard you can save them in case you want to duplicate them on another piece. Then just tape or staple them to the empty space under the bottom shelf. That piece looks great and you will always have the exact pattern if say you want to make hanging shelves above it at some time in the future.
