Your on the right track. Sometimes I've put three gaskets to get it to prime. Tilt mower on it side with air filter on top. Remove spark plug cable. Have someone squeeze bale handle or tie it with zip tie. Turn blade and see if shaft is bent. You can tell by looking at blade bolt. Blade may be hitting on side of deck.
For that noise it made? Yeah I think that you're correct about that, I just didn't have time and another person to help with this. If it is bent its not to bad because it feels pretty balanced when running. I had a quick way to deal with it in part 2 lol.
I enjoy the way you treat your dog! 😅 Your step father may not be aware of the missing pre-filter that goes into the recess of the air filter cover. If you don't have that in there the pleated air filter cartridge cannot maintain a proper seal. It gets distorted once the larger bits of debris build up in the pleats. The pre-filter stops the debris from clogging the air filter and getting in past the choke. It also keeps the air filter cartridge snug so the abrasive grit never gets into the cylinder. I have lots of these Briggs 190cc engines come in and have yet to see one with the pre-filter that came new with the machine itself. It's not actually optional if you intend to avoid murdering these models. As far as ethanol goes, you're definitely better off getting it out of any engine you own. That stuff is designed to make you inclined to ruin your own property with no idea you're doing it. Don't hesitate to watch a few videos on how to remove it from ordinary pump gas aith ordinary tap water. If you prefer to buy it locally that's okay too. Some states still have an ethanol-free option at the pump, usually the Premium grade - but you can always buy it at big box stores, hardware stores or lawn & garden equipment dealers. It will make your mower last so long you will be shocked. Have a great day and go pet your pets!!!
Maybe I missed it, or you didn't show it in the video, but I didn't see you clean out the holes in the main jet in the float bowl screw before putting it back on. If these holes are plugged up with ethanol "jelly", the fuel might not get pushed into the carburetor when you pump the primer bulb. Just a thought. Good video, though.
When you put the filter housing that attaches to carb. Make sure you can see fuel come out tube inside carb. If it don't its the gasket between carb and filter housing is not sealing and letting air out. Preventing carb from priming.
Yeah I get into this on part 2 next week! You're 100 percent right. That said I never could see any gas come out of the tube in the carb (if it did it was very small). But.....after I prime 4-5 times I do feel some pressure and the mower cranks right up.
You can spray carb cleaner into throat of carb and start it like that if you don't want to mess with the gaskets. You won't have to worry about kids getting it started since it can't be primed to get it started.
Those gaskets can get frustrating. I have tapped rtv along the side of the air channel before putting gasket on to stop air leaking from leaking when you push primer bulb.
He's not a professional at all just a novice. And he makes many mistakes along the way. In addition to not providing any tips or advice. My recommendation is so don't waste your time with this video because there are far better professional Small engine mechanics. Donny boy 73. Individualized repair. And there are others.

BTW if your so qualified why are you watching videos on how to repair things? It’s sad that TH-cam has guys like you going around leaving nasty comments. Cheers!

I may have not included it in the video by accident but I definitely got that screw cleaned as well. Thanks for watching and the tip.

Good suggestion.

All that white stuff is from ethanol gas.
You got it - I've seen worse but this wasn't so good. Thanks for all of your comments and suggestions!!!!!!! This is what I wanted from TH-cam!

I literally say that I’m just doing it as a hobby in my videos and learning as I go. Waiting on your videos.

You have no idea what I’m doing or why I’m doing it and I’m HONEST that I’m a hobbiest and not a pro. No disinformation about it. Have a good one lol.
