I only bought a Traxxas Bluetooth module and after an update for IPhone, Transmitter and the Vehicle ESC on Traxxas Link App, the Telemetry works without purchasing extra sensors and GPS module... Thanks!!!! I bought it yesterday after watching your video!!! I Love It!!! Spread Kindness !!! You are Awesome!!!
I understand your frustration because I bought some of them as well. I will install them in my other vehicles. Keep them for your other vehicles if you did not spend too much.
martinmoran89 well the expander is worth it if you want the gps module which is more accurate then the rpm sensor and also with it if you want to add more sensors later
The 2.0 UDR esc This exact process and I will get the same results. I have a 2.0 UDR esc and a Traxxas Maxx With the TQI transmitter and receiver 🙂 Previous to ordering the UDR esc to get this telemetry I did the same with a Arrma Firma 150 amp esc and the updates all worked and it set up the car. But the firma 150 amp spectrum Esc does not fully give telemetry and this is why I just bought the new v2 6s esc from Traxxas
Hi thanks for sharing this, just not sure what my voltage display is on with , I have x maxx 8s and with 2 fully charged 4s batteries it’s reading 6 I can’t get my head round it, what should I set the warning alarm for thank you for your time and effort 👍
Yes, I monitored battery voltage with it, but you can try to monitor ESC and RX voltage. I have not tried those yet, but they are in the menu in the Traxxas app. Look at this picture: traxxas.com/sites/default/files/pitpass/180104-xmaxx8s-telemetry-upgrade/005-telemetry-upgrade.jpg
145 degrees for the temperature, and calculate 3.8V per cell. I recommend reading about Low Voltage Cutoff for LIPO batteries so you can make the best decision. It impacts how long your batteries will last over time. For either of these settings you have to decide how much of a buffer you want to build in.
Would anyone know if the Samsung Galaxy A20 is a 4.4 or up phone? I need to know if it's compatible or not before I purchase this. I have the E-Revo 2.0 and a Summit and I think this would be very handy for checking my temps.
I inserted my link module; connected via Bluetooth on the app; and went to the dashboard. When I make my car go, the dashboard doesn't change, it has all zeros.
I got it working. After charging my Lipo batteries, I tried connecting via Bluetooth again. This time, on the app, the transmitter logo turned green. Then I updated the firmware, and powered on the car. The car logo on the app turned green. Then I saw the dashboard, and it was working. Right now, I'm using my tablet. I might get the phone mount and try it on my phone or tablet, whatever will fit. But, I might be changing phones, so I will probably hold off on the mount until I decide whether I'm keeping my phone longer or not. What's this about a lights add on I see, on the dashboard? Is there a light kit for the E-Revo, and is it easy to install? I couldn't find a lights kit for this E-Revo model on the website.
I liked your video but I talked to traxxas as now there are a ton of ppl getting bad motor or c rather esc in a brand new vehicle i got one it made my motor so hot in 5 minutes of running on a 60° day i called traxxas znd asked them what does the sensors watch on 2 different days i asked is it watching temps of the motor or esc the one guy ssid it was esc only the other said both but I know this to be untrue as I ran for about 15/20 min on a 80 day n I had the over heat temp shut off point was set at 145 and I had a temp gun which can be off but it was calibrated the day before the motor got up to 190 because of me getting a truck that I didn't get to run for o er 3weeks I asked them also when I get it back am I going to get a new warranty he told me no it is 30 days only thats crazy to me by the time I got my car back n got to drive it one time i got 7 days remaining on the motor that they told me they were going to switch which then they send you what the fixed and thst wasnt it i called quickly but all they would say is the trucks running fine even when asked how much did it ruin my brand new motor how long did it shorten its life the kept saying the trucks running fine i loved driving it the first time but number one in customer service is bullshit o was thinking of getting a slash 4x4 ultimate but idk now I may go with the Arrma typhon 6s blx which is a little cheaper but then I got to buy batteris for it but thats OK because I was going to buy 2 more 3s batteries anyway
That's not fun. I like Traxxas. I have not had issues with my E-Revo and I run it hot back to back ask you can see in some of my videos. Must have been a bad batch you were in. I would try a Maxx instead of a Slash 4x4. I have a Slash 4x4 Platinum and it is too low for me.
I have an E-Revo 2.0. Are you saying the only thing I need is this Traxxas Link module? traxxas.com/products/parts/transmitters/6511tqitraxxaslinkmodule I don't need a receiver? Also, when it calculates speed, when does it stop calculating speed? Let's say it runs for 3 seconds, and then I stop running the car. Will it stop calculating the speed as soon as the car stops?
Yes, if you bought your E-Revo 2.0 brand new all you need to buy is part # 6511. You should already have a 5-channel micro receiver (#6533) installed. The information is on the Traxxas site. Go to traxxas.com/products/landing/e-revo/ and look at the Innovation section. Click the right arrow to scroll to the VXL-6S Power System slide and it will show you the information. It does not stop calculating speed but will display zero mph when you stop the car. The app will save your top speed until you reset the saved top speed.
@@offworkhours Thank you! That was very helpful, to help me find that info. Can it tell me average speed? So let's say I run it on my 3 - 4 second path. I then want to look at the average speed. Then can I reset it and tell me the average speed for the next time I run this path? And if I don't reset it, then it will continue calculating the average speed? Also, realistically, how easy is it do make the car run and hold the remote, and also look at a device for speed and other info? Would I be constantly putting the remote down, picking up my wi fi device, putting that down, picking my remote back up?
@@nuraman00 Yes it can tell average speed. It will reset only when you reset it. See their video that shows the average speed display: th-cam.com/video/IKkznTZcPYY/w-d-xo.html. It is best to get a phone mount ( traxxas.com/products/parts/6532 ) on your radio. Even with the phone mount it will not be easy to watch your car and the phone unless you have a wide open space that will prevent you from wrecking.
The Traxxas Link app itself can handle training mode already so that will definitely work for letting a friend drive. The advantage of the telemetry with it is you can set alerts based on temperatures etc. E.g. If you want to be alerted when your ESC temperature is 150 degrees you can program that in and the alarm will sound so you can ask your friend to park the car for a bit. I have more info about that in my X-Maxx videos.
@@offworkhours I've bought both the holder and the module since I posted this lol!! It's super cool!! Did 67 mph! Geared up of course but ran out of road!! Worth the 53.00
@@never-stock-rc2968 That is great to hear! It is definitely worth the money, especially when you compare what parts you would have to buy using a non-Traxxas transmitter, receiver, and all of the sensors.
@@offworkhours I was thinking about putting in a big castle motor but it's pretty powerful enough for now standing backflips and 70 mph is good. And I just bought my e revo 2.0 last week and it's fully updated with better pushrods and a few other things they changed since it was released. Does need a motor fan and I'm sure santa will bring one lol

I’m so glad I found your video. I was just about to buy it. I just bought the E Revo.
Thanks for clearing this up
Perfect video and explanation. Wish I seen this before I bought all the sensors and expander for my 8S X-Maxx.

Robert Ruvinsky Right... I would like to know if the sensors are more accurate. “If” that’s what you’re asking also Robert.

It's reading BEC voltage, not batteries. Apparently need to connect voltage sensor to positive of esc.
great info, thank you
Would this work for slash 4x4
Thanks for the video but you have to go to support in the app and enable esc telemetry
Very good info, thank you. A question though: what voltage is it that you can monitor? Is it the battery pack voltage?

Will this for the slash?

what if you have a aftermarket esc in your rc
It will not work unless use additional Traxxas telemetry sensors that are not free
do you still need the telemetry expander
No, not unless you need to install other Telemetry sensors
