    Look at that they give you paper to start your first fire with, lol. Never thought it was going to stop as you pulled and pulled lol.

      Yeah I was beginning to think it was some magic trick they included with the stove ... lol !

    I made a stove out of a repurposed steel toolbox for about $10. Burns excellent, good airflow, but took some trial and test making a tin liner for it.
    Now that I have a prototype ......$
    I know the price on these stoves
    .....they aren't cheap.

      The cost is insane for what they are. Titanium or stainless steel stoves are even more expensive! I looked at stoves that cost $CAD 1300 and the design wasn't much different. If I had the right sheet metal tools I would make my own stove. Thanks for your comment! Cheers!

    Around 11:23 you added wood and the rear outer corner of the side table popped up. Was that warping due to heat or was it not fully attached initially maybe? The camera angle was different, but in the 15 + minute mark it appeared back to normal. Any insight would be appreciated as I'm saving up my Cabela's points to get the Alaskan stove soon and would like to know of any snafus. Thanks

      The table was properly attached when it warped up. My only explanation would be that the stove was not fully loaded with wood when the warping occurred thus causing a thermal variant across the stove. I will be hot tenting over Christmas and will check to see if the warping is a snafu or just a fluke. I'll let you know.

      Looked like warping to me.

      I had the stove in my hot tent and saw the table warp up during start up. The bottom of the brace is not mechanically attached to the stove and as soon as I placed anything on the table it became flat. After awhile the table rested naturally flat on the stove when everything heated up. To me, it was not an issue and the stove functioned well when cooking or boiling water.

    I've done this on two stoves now. One has to burn the hell out of them before using in a closed in area. Kni-Co builds a quality product. Glad I found your channel, but less talking ok! Lol, just kidding...

    Any concern about smoke leaking from around chimney?

    • @richard_west
      @richard_west  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      No concern as long as there is an updraft. I saw no leaks during break in.

    Any knowledge on breaking in a titanium wood stove, or is there no need?

    • @richard_west
      @richard_west  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Definately! All stoves need a burn in to get rid of any manufacturing residues.

    Putting on my Smokey The Bear hat, it would be prudent to clear the flammable material under and around the stove.
