2 weeks ago I ran the toughest race of my life, MCC. The race is part of UTMB week, a series of mountain races that take place in and around Chamonix, France. I was supposed to take part last year when invited by UTMB but for obvious reasons it didn't go ahead, so it was incredible to finally be able to take part this year!

Long term running injury all through Covid lockdown and afterwards - this video was the one that kept me going during recovery. Amazing scenery and effort - thank you for this Flora !

What a beautiful video. I am a road racer but can certainly appreciate the effort of running on trails. We've got some of that out here in the mountains of Utah but I just power hike in them, but I know they do the Wasatch 100 (Mile) race up there. Always a LOT more effort up there. Once again, enjoyed the video and congrats on a finish!

Couldn’t get over how beautiful everything looks and definitely makes me want to try to go in the summer if not apply for the race at some point too. I remember hearing lots of people in a Canadian ski resort saying they come for the winter but end up deciding to stay because of how much they love the summers and I’m sure it must be similar there! We do!! I live in Bavaria so I'm not that far away from the Alps. I haven't gone for a run there yet but I definitely plan to do so in the future!
I am not sure when that change happens that says "Well, I'm exhausted, I could just walk the last x mile(s), but if I just run it, I'll finish sooner!" LOL. I found myself saying the same thing yesterday on my 16 miler (training for my first marathon). The runner's mind is a funny place.
I am SO glad you got a sunny day, though maybe you would have preferred some rain? LOL. I recall you saying in the last video (I think?) that rain was in the forecast.
What a gorgeous video memory of the trip. I am grateful you took so much of your time and effort on that run to share it with us.
Haha I know, its funny isn't it! So true though - I think it gets so much harder for each hour you're out on course. Definitely better to try to finish sooner rather than later on such a long race.
Yup it said rain until just a few days before! The sun was amazing though, despite the heat :)
I did the Yorkshire 3 Peaks this year (walking not running) in 15 hours. So I
know what it is like and cannot imagine what it is like to run it.
Then this 40km race - beautiful video. You make it look easy and relaxing! When we know it is next level endurance that only the fittest can contemplate entering and complete.
Many congratulations on your achievements and for sharing it with us. Gives us someone and something to look up to. Hopefully one day aspire to, although I have only just got my walking poles and I won’t tell you how old I am.

Thanks enjoyed seeing that lovely scenery again, I was there a few years back, running but not racing. I was with you on the last stretch, done that, seems ages before you get into town. Six hours, sounds prêt fast to me.

We were super lucky with the weather! With MCC the entries are opened to locals and volunteers first, so I'm not sure it's available to enter right now. I was very lucky and was asked to run this for UTMB which is how I got a place :) Maybe send an email so you know if/when entries are opened?

Thank you so much 🥰 the entry criteria is easy (don't think there is any) but they give tickets to locals and volunteers before everyone else so it's quite competitive i think!

I was given my place by utmb (deferred from last year as obviously the race didn't go ahead then!) but yes I think quite oversubscribed, unsurprisingly. They open it to volunteers and locals first, then to everyone else :)

I have a very stupid question, but I never ran that distance, my longest has been 15k so I have a lot to learn...how do you manage the restroom issue? I'm a bit worried about that and not always per GI issues, also for simple number 1🤭
Hi Alice, welcome to the channel! :) Not a stupid question at all.
In a hot race like this I don't usually need to go to the loo at all (I guess I'm sweating out everything I'm drinking). Poo wise (sorry hahah) if you practise race strategy and food etc beforehand you should be fine! There are usually loos at the start and if not, there are perfectly good woods to go in :) Always carry loo roll!
