Lots of years ago in school we had to do a presentation in front of the class. A girl did a quick talk about her violin then started playing it. I was mesmerised, it was the first time I'd heard a solo violin played. I've loved the violin since that moment.
2 of the best fiddlers in the world, as far as I am concerned. I first saw this on video when I was in 6th grade when my teacher played it and was blown away by these 2. Great music, beautiful ladies and just an overall WOW duo
I was in the original show with Michael Flatley and with these two incredible musicians. It was completely crazy and awsome. 3 Years ago I was on a second show and I was sad to see, that its not nearly the same anymore.
They’re not sisters,@@bluesmobilehire4053 - in the pants on the left is Mairéad Nesbitt, and in the dress on the right is Cora Smyth. If you’ve heard of the Irish band Lúnasa, Cora's brother Sean Smyth is their original fiddler. Mairéad went on to play in Celtic Woman as well.
I have to say, as a fiddler myself, I didn’t like some of the newer tunes in the ‘new’ show… it seems cheapened, overdone & gimmicky. Very “Celtic modern fusion” or “Gaelic world music” type stuff, if that makes sense… while, at the same time, sounding like a children’s Irish dance competition CD! 🤣 Plus I noticed on the DVD of the 20th anniversary version (I think?), the original audio of ‘Strings of Fire’, with these two (Mairéad and Cora), is dubbed over the new fiddlers. So they’re essentially lip-fiddling but it’s not even to their own playing. Of course, it was a production choice, and the new girls can play just as well, but why not dub THEIR actual playing? I dunno.
i remember seeing this for the first time and thinking "oh my god, there are electric violins?" i was probably 10 or 11 at the time, a few years into learning the violin myself. this is definitely a significant part of my childhood!

I saw this and it was simply mind blowing and beautiful. I love the celtic style of dance and music. These people have amazing talent and I loved every second of this entire performance. Hope to see more things like this in the near future.

For anyone who just wandered in, Mairead (rhymes with "parade") Nesbitt (on the left) is now with Celtic Woman. You have got to see what she does when she has the stage to herself. Look up "Granuaile's Dance", "The Coast of Galicia" and "The Foxhunter." Some of us fans think, in our giddier moments, that she's really a High Elf.

Mairead is also the main fiddler for Celtic Woman. I almost didn't recognize her without her pretty dresses (especially in that leather) and her beautiful long hair. She's so amazing.
I love the change of moods starting from 2:25. Mairead and Cora give such an electrifying performance, and Mairead's looks in combination with the music are mesmerizing. No other musician has this effect on me!!!
I'm grade 8 (highest grade you can get) on piano, clarinet and saxophone and I can't play that good. I would love to meet u too u inspire me! AMAZING! Words can't come to say how amazing u too are -3
