#MWO (#MechwarriorOnline) by Piranha Games. Free to play at mwomercs.com. MechWarrior Online is a free-to-play vehicular combat video game, officially launched during September 2013 by Piranha Games for Microsoft Windows. The game takes place within the larger #BattleTech universe. In MechWarrior: Online, players takes the role of a ""MechWarrior"" who pilots large bipedal combat vehicles known as BattleMechs (Mech for short). Players can customize their BattleMech with an array of weapons and equipment, and engage in 12 versus 12 battles, the outcome of which earns the players experience and c-bills for future BattleMech purchases and customization. There are currently seven game modes that involve protecting and attacking a single base (Assault), capturing and holding several points (Conquest), take and hold the center of the map (Domination), attacking a space defense system (Siege/Counter-Attack), protecting and attacking field bases with turrets and walls spread across the map (Incursion), and team death-match (Skirmish).
To clarify on my announcement, my post said the Fire Moth pre order and specs release was in January. The mech has always been planned and is on track to release in February.
True.
The Fire Moth is something I’ve been begging for since the Clans were first added into MWO. Not sure if it’ll be “good”, but damn will it be fun to just FLY around basically. Promised myself I’d preorder it immediately lol
On a more somber note, I do worry a bit for MWO’s future. Part of me hopes PGI can pull off a refresh of the game (like CSGO to CS2) and breathe some new life into the game, but that remains to be seen. In the meantime, what they COULD try is to remaster (not reMAKE, just a visual upgrade, ideally 1:1 update, and maybe update controls and such to work like a modern game) MW2-4. That could go well, if they do it right.
the only problem will be the maps. the ones we have don't allow for much high speed maneuvering I feel.
@ I really only think it will struggle a bit on maps with high elevations. If it was too open, like old Polar Highlands or Alpine Peaks, I think the mech might struggle a bit. But otherwise I think it’ll be fine overall. Other fast mechs do fine in my experience, even if they’re not quite as fast as the Fire Moth will be.
Thanks for the early patch updates. I hope the employees affected by the layoffs find another job quickly. I think PGI has done a great job. I like that they are fixing bugs on Luthien. I swear I have been able to use the tag laser through some of the D4 upper cliffs near the center of the map. Idk if anyone else has experienced that.
Keep being good brand ambassadors and encourage your social network to try Clans and when you get some time in MWO put a few dimes their way with a purchase even something small like tournament supporter or mc. We have to stay engaged and keep the rust off our hobby while giving input on future product.
With the way Clan and Inner Sphere tech is mixing, I hope we get the Sunder and Avatar soon.
Would make sense after MW5 Clans and the Luthien map because if I recall correctly (and I could totally be 100% wrong, if I am, feel free to correct me) the Avatar and Sunder were built from what the Inner Sphere learned from salvaged Clan Omnimechs.
@@SLDFSpectreSix I believe that’s correct. If I’m remembering correctly, the Avatar is specifically based on the Mad Dog. The Sunder, I can’t remember, but it might be a mostly original chassis.
Love the Sunder in MW4 it had so much going for it. Not the fastest nor fattest armored but it's got 360 torso turn and enough dakka to make most others think twice.
Unfortunately, not likely. The Sunder and Avatar were made fairly quickly after the Clan Invasion era of the 3050s-ish. Even though they stole design elements from Clan mechs they studied, those were both 100% Inner Sphere tech designs. It's the reason why IS Omnis like the Templar, Sunder, Avatar, etc have never been introduced to MWO: hardwired IS XL engines are a recipe for a mech to be dead on arrival.
There was a poll some years back asking the community what they'd like to see, and the option a lot of people thought they should go with is to simply allow hardwired IS XL engines to function like the Clan XL engines with massive heat penalties. It'd make better balance, and there's kind of no other way around them other than allowing the engine to be swapped out, which is a huge no-no for omnis anyway.
@ well, the Blackhawk KU exists, so that kinda does away with that being the reason they’re not in.
The Flea and the Archer are both Clan-tech IS mechs I'm very interested in, for lore reasons! The Flea was nearly extinct when the Dragoons brought it back in 3005, and they only had *2* left or something by the end of the 4th Succession War, and the Archer here is probably based on the 2W/5W, which were a Wolf's Dragoons trademark!
I was recently wonder when they were going to add the Dasher
After seeing the builds and quirks for that Nightstar i am worried. ER Pulses may not be the longest range but they can hit hard. Im already seeing dual HAG with triple LPL builds just shredding everything.
Yeah, Clan LPL reach out to over 600 optimal no problem.
this sucks and i feel bad for PGI and all the people they had to lay off. im assuming MWO is going to slow down pretty hard as more resources are put into MW5 Clans DLC (if those are even going to happen) or they will just become a support studio again. I really hope they can come back from this and all the people that got laid off will find new jobs soon. i really wish microsoft themselves would give more support to this franchise and studio
Maybe MWO2 would have been a better idea than MW5 Clans.
Me still waiting for Clans DLC 😭😭😭
I have a feeling we are coming to the end of life for MWO with the layoffs. Its quite disappointing. The team working on the game was already small, now its even smaller.
Will get that Clan Nightstar for certain, the LPL quirk is so fun.
I kind of would have preferred something like the Penetrator or the Avatar, but I'll take the Dasher, that would be fun
when I heard the MW5 clans game was a fixed campaign path, it turned me off, the open, free choice of the MW5 has always been my choice for games like this
FIREMOTH !!!!
Bet that nightstar is the Brubaker custom variant
Clan Stalker gonna be scary.
MW5 Clans sales tanked because other than lore, it only added what, new biomes and new variants? There's mods on Nexus, VonBiomes and YAML stuff to do the same to MW5 base game so personally, I didn't see a need to get clans. I was already playing it essentially for months before launch. A quick search of Nexus would have told PGI what the popular mods were which would tell them what players are craving. To make the exact same game with new environments and chassis and weapons.....well, we already had that.
I feel like this is perhaps the beginning of the long suspected fall of MWO. I hope I'm wrong, love this game
The cuts are way stronger than what you'd expect for just a resizing. It looks like PGI's ownership is winding down a lot of hedged bets in the Mechwarrior IP if they're laying off lead designers, map designers, etc. A lot of the people that left were super crucial, it's kinda odd to think they can continue without them the same as before. No doubt PGI already is aware of this, so I too hope my gut feeling is just a fear and not an inevitability.
@@Sanchuniathon384 Didn't know about the others, but that's what I was wondering too at 11:50, when he said that one of their best is sacked.
@@Acaios1 Yeah, it was something like 38/100 or so staff? It's a huge set of layoffs no matter the company. Definitely a sign of distress.
@@Sanchuniathon384 Damn, that's a lot...
Crosstech?
Yeah it might be the thing for me to start playing again!
❤ yes! I have a new mech now 😅
Fire Moth is going to be the World of Tanks French wheelies. Damn near killed the game.
what is this discord channel? mwo official channel?
I like Fire moth to mechwarrior online
I thought piranha was employee owned.
Maybe it was originally, but “EG7” apparently bought them at some point
I know my opinion wont be popular, but at this time they should make a new game.
The only PGI staff that shud be let go are Paul and Russ.
Always sad to hear about devs getting canned. Wonder why Clans didn't do better? Gameplay issues, genre unpopular, bad marketing or just people too poor to buy games these days?
Poor optimization and a lack of content seemed to be the main reasons
@@SheyD78 Clans didnt offer anyting particulary extra gameplay or story wise when compared to Mercs and Trials is worse MWO.
Day 1 game pass lost them tons and the dlc to make the difference back was such a mistake they had to give it away for free. (Dlc was 2000s base game content anyway so not sure why they thought it would be good to sell for $20)
The end is nigh.
So it's fast af with the MASC, as god intended, yet they wanna make it dumpy like the cheetah? Ew brother ew whats that, whats that brother ew.
Sort the lazer sniping out, stop nerfing ballistics. Its catering to the lowest common denominator. The Apache nerf is criminal, the Bane buff just isnt needed.
Let it go
Let it go......
ueueueueueueueueueueue DG moment, now hit them with the aaaaaaaaaaaaa eeeeeeeeee
When the dasher comes out, I wonder how effective streak boats will be for those first few days, buahahahahaha.
WTF is PGI smoking with the Bane quirks? The Bane-4 already has Ballistic HSL+1, but it only has 2 ballistic hard points. This is the same mech that has Energy HSL+1, *with only a single energy hard point*.
Iv finally found out what that energy hsl does.. it allows us to run er ppc with 2 gauss rifles without ghost heat.
Now I just need to find what weird weapon combo that is allowed with 2 ballistics that need a + 2 ballistics hsl
@@flounder2760HAG40x2 UAC20
@@flounder2760 Yeah like a twin UAC 20 or something
Is the patch for MWO or MW5:Clans?
MWO
MW 5 clans new? MWO can die already
MWO is so bad, I wish someone with some actual credibility made a battletech universe game, Oh well... back to armored core 6.
