I've been thinking a bit about this recently. I understand that it can be difficult for the average person to navigate the world of smartphones, and the best a company has to offer is what they will focus their marketing on. But most people don't "need" the latest tech either, or the flagships on offer. I could take advantage of the tech in the best phones, but I'm really in the "what else do you want a smartphone to do" phase. 😅Sure; tech is cool, more power is fun, and I'm excited for a time when foldables are more accessible, but more than ever I treat my phone as a tool, and it gets the job done. I recently upgraded from my two years old S20 FE to the S21 Ultra - in worn condition and with a defect camera, which I don't mind. I didn't need to upgrade, but we needed an extra phone, and among the options of buying new/old/used flagships/non-flagships, for me the value is to be found in used/old flagships. I buy almost all my gear used, and I've mostly had positive experience with buying on the second hand market - with buyer protection, mind you.
This is perfect! And also exactly my thought process as well. It's difficult to make video reviews of phones even because, for the most part, now it's: " it does everything well and just a fraction of a second faster than last year." I still do enjoy trying out different phones and form factors, though, and still prefer buying used since it saves quite a bit. 99% of the time, it's been a positive experience for me as well!
@@nerdgrafx Yeah. And while prices of the flagships are high, and often increasing, I think it's really cool how good of a phone you can get today, compared to what you could get with the same amount of money not many years ago.
Bro but it's totally senseless to wait for a few months, I did that with my Pixel 7 as dint have the money for it when it launched and trust me I'm still regretting it till date. I had to buy the accessories I could have got for free had I pre ordered it
Oh wow that sucks man! Pixels do drop in value quite fast though so you could probably get the accessories also on sale and still pay the same or less than on preorder!
Meanwhile Z fold 5 was rumored when i got my Fold 4. 1. I was impatient 2. Fold 4 has reviews of people who had them for a year and it seemed most issues came from people using cases.
I hope you were happy with your decision! I haven't used the Fold 4, but from what I can see it was mainly the same phone as the Fold 5, so you might not have missed much and hopefully got a discount on the Fold 4
@@nerdgrafxStill using it caseless. Got the inner protector replaced semi - recently. It has a few bubbles but it was their first time so I didn't mind. Also heard they tend to break if it doesn't get replaced/removed carefully. Aside from some software hiccups (discord loves bugging out), i listened to the advice from somebody on the internet and it's been doing me fine. (Paraphrased from memory) "Use it as a normal phone".

Very good strategy 👍... This is how I can afford flagship phones, INVEST YOUR MONEY IN SMART INVESTMENTS..
Thank you!
