The John I watched 12-15 years ago fit what I was looking for then and so does this new John, so for me you didn't waste time. It's why I keep coming back.
I personally love the longer unedited gaming videos because I work from home doing data entry all day everyday and I love being able to watch these while I’m working. I love that they are super chill and are long videos so I don’t have to stop and pick a new video to watch every ten minutes. Because I don’t talk to anyone all day it’s nice to have these videos on and just listen to you chat about the game or other stuff. You and Gab are my main go to channels for while I work because of the longer chattier videos that are chill and relatively calm.
I hate to hear you felt like your editing was a waste. It's totally valid and I do really enjoy watching these videos as they are now, but I always appreciated the way you edited. I also didn't realize how much work you were putting into them. Regardless I'm just glad to see you're still gaming and it seems like you're having a good time doing it.
Exactly how I felt when I heard that, I was so heartbroken to hear that :( I always loved his videos, it just sucks when you put so much work and effort into something and you don’t get the praise or appreciation you were expecting, or that maybe you felt you “deserved”.
Been watching him since 2017 during a really dark period in my life. It was his play through of Dropsy that got me interested in his style. No idea why, but a clown giving hugs to strangers while John exclaiming the nuances was just right.
i think its been echoed a bit already in the comments section but i've watched you over going on 12 years now because you're very well spoken, calm, and you always stress critical thinking while engaging with media. i will admit to using your videos to fall asleep sometimes, but it's not because you're boring XD you don't scream and flail around like a ton of other lets players and the calm way you speak alongside the ambient game noises are really, really calming when my brain won't shut up at the end of the night. i do understand why hearing that would be frustrating though. i'm glad you've found a good way to pivot so your energy feels more well spent. i didn't expect to be as engaged as i wound up being for dredge, but jesus, i really, really am sad to see this let's play end! i know i'd watch you fish around for 6 hours straight if you ever felt like doing that. here's hoping you'll pick up the DLC and go through with a 100% stream for this game!
I’ve enjoyed your newer videos more than your older ones simply because YOU look happier doing them, John. Continue to do what makes you happy, whatever that may be.
Its not that your videos make ppl fall asleep. Its that your so good at explaining the environment and commenting on what your doing that we can just listen to you without feeling like were missing out on something. Most youtubers just go "wow thats cool" but you say that and also describe what it is. Your the only youtuber that ive found that does it perfectly! I watch most of your videos 2 times cuz of this and it just as entertaining both times!
this, I do a lot of computer work and have adhd and I need something that I can remotely pay attention to to also help me do work, and multitasking helps encourage many people with adhd to perform certain tasks. There are other people's videos out there where I cannot retain any information from multitasking but it's these type of videos where I can actually pay enough attention to while still being able to work
Do hope you end up playing the DLC. It's nothing massive, but it offers a bit more fun IMO. Thanks as always for a fun series, this was a good one to unwind to.
@@wrdkrf oh thanks! I'm one of those hold-their-breath kids who don't use twitch in spite of his efforts, so I completely missed that haha. Appreciate the info.
Happy to see another chonky Dredge video ...but also sad to see it end. This game has absolutely captured me with its snug collect-a-thon game play, yet including that touch of Cthulthoid creepiness. This playthrough has been WONDERFUL! I can't thank you enough John! SO GLAD YOU CHOSE THIS!
This game is very neat, and honestly I love how it foreshadows the Collector's identity in different ways; obviously there's the conversation with the lighthouse keeper that reveals the info necessary to make the connection without outright saying it, but there are so many small things such as the Collector being seen "through" the window the first time you meet him. It's just enough hints that you *could* piece things together if you start thinking a little harder about it (like John did) but it's also entirely possible to miss it if you pay it no mind.
You even get a different "bad end" sequence if you haven't shattered the mirror, where the narration still treats the Collector as a separate person, which is super cool! The game is dedicated to not ruining it unless you get the official reveal.
For years I've rewatched videos on your main channel as a comfort, you helped me through a horrible breakup just a few years back. I think I alone have contributed to hundreds of views on your rusty lake series. I appreciate all your work. I don't want you to feel like you aren't appreciated ❤️
I watch your videos at night BEFORE falling asleep. It helps me turn my brain off and decompress after long days, but it’s been especially helpful lately with a lot of personal stresses going on. I appreciate everything you do.
I know it may come of as a bad thing when people "like to watch your videos till they fall asleep" but if theyre like me, I like to watch them as im finally getting a moment to relax right before bed after a day of work (and taking care of the kids), they unwind with a good video until they fall asleep but then we'll pick it up the next day to finish the video. Again that's just in my case but it's like ill watch only like 3 people religiously because I enjoy their content and if it winds up that I'm watching a video before bed, it could be you or somebody else and I'll literally watch it as long as I can until I have to fall asleep. Same thing when I say I'm glad that there's no cuts is because candid moments/ humor in moments that could have been cut out that didn't. I know no one cares to read it but if you did I hope you get that your videos aren't boring etc man.
Loved watching this game series and I do appreciate the no edits. I’m probably not in the norm, but I enjoy watching your gameplay thought process and comparing it to how I played the game. Also love watching the collection hunting. Thanks for uploading and hope to see the DLC
You got it in one for me. I've always loved watching John's playthroughs because he and I play very similarly (we have a lot of the same thought processes) so seeing the similarities or rare differences in many of his playthroughs is super interesting to me. Glad to see someone else does this.
I watch you because unlike jack or mark, you speak normaly and don`t scream like you life depends on it. Also despite your calm voice i never sleept when watching you. Also the Sass
For me, having already beaten the game twice, I just love watching people experience the surprises the game has in store. I like seeing the reactions to the first aberration, first time you see the serpent in the Gale Cliffs, everything about the basin (my favorite area)… it’s just such a fun experience and I love watching people, well, experience it.
I feel like your efforts in editing and carefully crafting your content was what led me to you (&maybe it also helped in favorably tipping the algorithm to find you in the early days, too!) I’ve been watching you for 12 years-ish now and you’ve been a huge part of my life and its many transitions. I’m happy that folks can now watch edited & unedited videos of you and appreciate the ball of sass and quirkiness that is John Wolfe aka HarshlyCritical. Thank you for all that you do and congratulations on being a father-life’s a trip! I hope to watch your videos with my future kids someday. Cheers!
honestly the twitch videoplayer sucks ass, i watch vods on it occasionally but only if i know the streamer wont upload them later, its just really unpleasant. and rewinding if something funny happens is really clunky, rewinding/skipping around is much more painless on youtube. so unless youre watching streams live yeah most people wont wanna go on it.
I believe those random rocks are another byproduct of sanity. Because as you saw they're not really there during the day when you feel better. And they have a red color to them as they fade in like other products of your insanity. Loved the playthrough John!
though im an uncut vid enjoyer, the little edits and skits on your main channel are chefs kiss too 🤸🏻♂️ youre one of the 2 or 3 ytbers i watch that ACTUALLY make my poor attention span disappear and find genuinely funny so ! thanks john
Well now I feel bad that I used to consistently and still do from time to time. Fall asleep to John's silent House video.😝 But that's only because I sat through the whole thing the first time and it was that classic John commentary with his boomer jokes that help me not feel so old. And the constant thunder in the background. 😁 Love what you do John, don't ever stop growing.❤
I honestly love the wide variety of games and videos John does. From "ghost" videos to a "fishing" game to Baldur's Gate to an "appeasing the company" game 😂 Can't wait to see what he chooses to play next 🎉🎉
I’ll have to admit I do often have your videos in the background or when I’m falling asleep, but it’s just so calming to hear your voice instead of my own anxiety riddled ones. I usually have to have music or a video in the background otherwise I’ll get paranoid at the silence or anxiety at being alone and you are one of the only channels that seem to calm me despite many of the games being horror focused. I think is it’s because you are real in your videos, there is no over the top or forced reaction. And while I do watch the other ‘bigger’ TH-camrs like Mark or Jack you are the only one that I consistently come back too. Even if I fall asleep halfway through a video I’ll end up watching it again during the day anyway and most series I’ll watch multiple times just because of your jokes, commentary, overall vibe. Your edited video got me hooked and now these longer one keep me reeled in. Thanks so much for all you do and hope you know that all your hard work is greatly appreciated.
44:40 I think I might have said at one point in the past that John is really nice to fall asleep too, but I do want to say that I do appreciate all the time and effort that goes into editing the videos. While I fall asleep to them, I do come back the next day to watch the rest of the video from the point that I don't remember. Technically you get multiple views out me haha. That said, I am totally happy with these cozy less edited videos. I don't feel like I'm missing anything from the more edited ones as the stuff I like a lot is still here; John and a fun game! Thank you for the content. I really look forward to your videos.
This is just my very niche critique about the game. It might sound weird because open-world is all the rage right now, but I feel like this game would be 'more full' if the different areas were wholly their own. Like so far as having to cross a loading zone (whether superficial or not) to get to each of them. It implies distance and makes the world feel bigger without actually having more on the map. Kind of like old gamecube spyro/super mario sunshine. I'm not a fan of how teeny the world feels, especially since people are meant to live here. Otherwise, I agree regarding how easy it is to catch fish as well as how the sanity mechanic lacks impact. There are just several little things that would have made this game even greater (it is a great game as-is!!) Thanks for playing!!
John, I don’t think you wasted time. At least for some people, like me, this kind of attitude towards your audience made me think: wow! This guy really cares about his audience. He literally played this difficult game for 20 hours and showed me the best moments, so I could not waste time and rewind the video or anything. It is such a big amount of work. This attitude made me subscribe to your channel at some point. So, it is valued at least by some of your viewers. So thank you!
John, I'm so sorry but when you just finished the dramatic moment with the Collector ending and turned and immediately rammed your boat into a rock, that made me laugh so hard, I'm so sorry lmao. But also, since we're talking collector, when you were talking about worrying if the "collection" stuff in the game is boring, no way. People watching Dredge are going to be people who like Dredge and like watching you collect em all anyway, and at least for me, I always enjoy you trying to collect everything in games, not only because that's how I play and it feels rewarding in Let's Play form too, but because I like seeing your reactions to different things (like the moonfish! I'm glad you stuck it out and caught that, because that was a fun weird fish fact to learn) and I enjoy any excuse for more CAHHHNTENT lol.
Thank you for going out of the regular area and the circle! I've been so curious what's there and what would happen! I just knew there had to be some kind of something! I was expecting some kind of Truman Show scenario but that was much cooler!
You should’ve been able to mount the cannon to your ship so you could blast the rocks away. I didn’t really like having to find a shop to buy explosives
Regarding quality, and your Twolfe format vs your main channel's approach to game videos: From where I'm sitting, the quality (and the reason I like to watch these videos) is found in the insight you bring to the world of gaming: talking about game mechanics, well considered reviews and retrospectives of a game (in its entirety), etc. The quality is the way you talk about games. Certainly, you're a funny dude, every once in a while your videos will really make me crack up, but most of the time it's either that I'm very interested in what you're saying, or I'm enjoying paying attention to the game's design or story. Or in the case of some of those horror games, busting up laughing at how ridiculous some of them were. I support you putting less man hours and effort into editing these videos. As a content creator myself, I know how much work goes into editing, especially when you're doing creative and interesting things. It takes a lot of time. If it means we get longer videos (that are more authentic / organic), and you get more time to work on other creative pursuits, your health, or your family, I think it's a win-win.
I appreciate the way you do editing for games with a strong narrative, because one of the differences I find with watching vs playing it myself is the pacing drags faster. It's harder for me to keep track of things when I'm watching, even when I'm giving it my full attention. So trimming the gameplay down helps me enjoy the game when there's a lot going on with the story. For games like this, where the pacing is loose because of the explorative structure, unedited is great because I'm going to be putting the video on as background anyways. Having the extra conversational content etc is fun. So, for me, it's the kind of game narrative which dictates whether I want it tightly trimmed or left unedited.
PS I do come over to Twitch (I've even subbed to you there), but you're in an awkward time zone for me and I find it hard to navigate their VoD system! 😅 So it's easier if the video pops up in my subs here.
If it makes you feel better John, I love your edited content AND unedited content. I never put them on just to fall asleep or have on in the background. They are both super entertaining to me! You didn't waste your time for all of us!
I'm commenting on this months late, but I DO fall asleep to your videos...and then restart it where I fell asleep lmao. I always wanna see all of it, I just enjoy the content. I'm glad you made this channel, I've been watching you like 9 years now.
Thank you very much for this playthrough, John! It was a joy to watch. I like your curiosity, your snark, your sincerity both in enjoying a game and being able to point out what you enjoyed less about it. Regarding your choice to edit or not, they give off different moods and I enjoy both. Regarding people who occasionally "watch" you while doing other things, I think it's because -- like me, occasionally, I'll confess! -- it just come down to "I want to hear these people and enjoy their personality and commentary, buuut I don't have the time to sit down and enjoy everything I want to, so I'll mustitask". Clearly, it means losing the visual aspect of your work, but at the same time, you're one of/my favourite creator and I still want to enjoy your sass!
My girlfriend and I have been absolutely loving your second channel!! We’ve been watching you for 10+ years and this second channel is everything we’ve ever wanted when it comes to gaming😊. We always said we wished we had a place to watch your content unedited. Anyways thank you for continuing to bless us with content (here and on the main channel), it’s been awesome watching you expand out of indie horror, tbh you could play anything, even Pokémon (again) and we’d be here for it. The way you approach and comment on games is so unique in the content space, we’re all lucky to have you. Thanks John!!
Edit or don't, your comments during play and genuine attitude is why I watch your playthroughs over any others. And the random background knowledge you give on the games (actors, studios ect) is the cherry on top. My daughter loves the scary videos and games, too, and the debunking stuff is great. Stay true, stay you, dude.
You've got a great personality. I'm a big puss for scary things, I have never played a horror game and I haven't seen a horror movie in over a decade, but I love your horror content. But I also love basically everything else about your channel. Additionally, I genuinely respect your opinion. I am glad you are happy with what you do and I hope you continue. Personally, I prefer long, unedited content for gaming. You don't always play games I'd like, but often you make these games entertaining for me, like Dredge. You make me glued to the phone screen for every single minute of the video.
I always loved your editing style, it's definitely one of the things that drew me into your og channel. But I also enjoyed your twitch streams and am enjoying these unedited runs. Basically the main content is you and your choice of games and commentary. The editing style whether very tight or more casual are just differing options for enjoyment.
Love your videos John. A tip for aberration hunting if you stream. Atrophy will not only harvest all the fish, but is likely to pull aberrations as well! 😊
just like other comments say, i like to watch you because your personality and humor. youre also pretty honest, i love hearing you talk about your opinions even if i dont agree. even those tuesday twitch streams, when you were waiting for steam to come back from maintenance you made that entertaining :)
I love watching you collect everything in a game. I definitely don’t get bored of watching! I have so much appreciation for the dedication. Thanks for the upload John!
Loooved watching you play this, John! I'll keep my eye out for the stream video, but gosh. Had a LOT of fun! Keep on Keeping On, John, and thank you for doing what you do~
I really enjoy your videos. Edit or no edit. You're not so "hyper" and even when you rant your voice is rather calm. And easy to listen to and understand (English is not my first language). What drew me to your first channel was that while playing games you also explained a lot of stuff about the development or how horror games are set up, etc. (The same goes for your ghost debunking videos)
gonna miss looking forward to each dredge upload, thank you for playing it! will definitely watch if you do the stream or the dlc, and of course other games you'll be playing! i did see sean's playthrough of this first, and they're both entertaining but i do prefer yours, for the same reason other people have stated, it's more detailed and you're good at commenting on everything, plus the little jokes you make. this is why even though there are games i've seen playthroughs of, i'll always be excited to see you play and see your perspective on them. i love both of your edited and non edited playthroughs, i think people love the non edited ones because they want longer videos. if i'm not wrong i remember seeing some comments back then saying they do watch the videos before/after they sleep to them, so i guess they don't solely use them for sleep, it's just that your playthroughs are comforting.
I've been catching up on this series since I missed it as it was coming out. Such a fun series!! I'm listening to the segment where you're talking about the feedback on this channel being that people love that there's no edits. I feel a similar way! It reminds me a lot of older TH-cam where people uploaded longplays that made you feel more like you're hanging out with a friend playing than watching a condensed experience. The high production value can be fun too but with a vibey game like this it can feel like you miss out a lot with cuts. Yay longplays!
I really like your approach to this channel, it’s really nice to see you enjoy yourself and not having to worry about the stress of editing. I completely get why you’re switching things up on your main channel and I love your new stuff, but this way I get the best of both worlds. Super appreciative of all your content John!
I enjoy your ramblings, this has been a great game to put up alongside my own gaming ventures, it's chill, it's interesting, and your tangents genuinely are cool to listen to
I fall asleep to your videos because you're calming and help me relax. I like your voice and your commentary, plus the fact that you don't scream! I'm sorry you feel that way about your edits 😔 I also love those! Really, I'm happy with anything you put out, edited or not, because they are quite good.
I honestly really enjoy these unedited videos, the longer form and your full thoughts really make these the perfect videos to have on at work as a sort of podcast/listen when i can't always look at the screen
I recently started watching your videos maybe within the last couple months and I genuinely feel like there rewatch ability is top tier. Most videos I rewatch because there just that good and also cus they’re like a comfort vid .. appreciate the content.
Glad im not the only one whose jaw dropped a little seeing the man himself rise in the Bad ending lol I thought the game was pretty well balanced from a difficulty level, especially as someone who doesn't play much horror. I think making the fishing challenging on top of the other obstacles might put more folk off. It's very easy to recommend as a first foray into horror as is in my opinion. But it could be interesting to see them maybe play around with difficulty in the future.
Unrelated, but it's nice to hear your genuine input about sponsorships. I am very skeptical about most, and wasn't sure if you truly believed in the products you sponsor, but it's nice to hear your input outside of a sponsored video. Just something I'd like to note!!
This game is worth 100%-ing. I highly recommend the DLC as well. I've played this game but watching it was still enjoyable. Thanks for the effort you put into your videos. It shows 🙏♥
Love to see John's enthusiasm for animals. I would literally grab everything food and drinks before starting your dredge videos cuz they're just special and comforting for me. Even with game genres I'm not interested in, your playthroughs are always fun to watch. I like that you're not just going thru the motions or feigning excitement over everything. And I totally agree with your thoughts on this game. Lore wise they could've covered more mysteries like the one with the Researcher, the hooded figures, or even the abbrated fish. They do roast the abbrated fish pretty hard lol
A really fantastic playthrough, always great to see you play a game you're just having fun with. Honestly that list at the end was just rattling off games I've always wanted to see you play but never expected you would. Outer Wilds, Obra Dinn, Subnautica? I'm strapped in. Wolfe fans eating good for the next few months!
I'd love to see you play the Pale Reach DLC - it adds a new area and about an hour more of gameplay (based on other videos I've seen on it). I'm also looking forward to watching the stream! I think the game is definitely meant to be less challenging and more chill, with the horror elements being more atmospheric than anything else. Definitely more of a cozy game than what you were wanting, based on your feedback. I think there's even options to turn off the fishing mini games and horror components completely, which tells me "cozy collecting fishing game with pretty art style and nice music, plus a splash of Lovecraftian vibes" was definitely more their focus, not intricate gameplay mechanics - which isn't a bad thing at all, but definitely not everybody's cup of tea.
Wow John, I feel personally attacked! Just because I fell asleep to this series 4 separate times, though thats more from watching it at midnight to relax to. Came back to finish it though! Loved your channel for years
Loved this series, John! Thanks for giving Dredge a great showcase. It was fun to watch. Tons of the games you mentioned at the end on your list would be great, but I would kill to see an Outer Wilds play through from you. One of my favorite gaming experiences I’ve ever had, and I would love to see you jump into it too. Whatever you choose, I’ll be there to watch. 🤩
Idk if this will provide any value to the convo but I personally think that these videos are still high value even though they aren’t edited. Other than editing, it’s also in the commentary, sound/video quality and how the youtuber sets the tone and experience for the audience. Sometimes less is more and I think you’re doing amazing. And what matters most is that you’re having fun!
I refuse to use Twitch. The ads are so obnoxious, and I can't seem to be able to go backward on the stream (not sure if it's a feature or if I'm stupid). Sooo frustrating
I never thought I'd be interested in this, I honestly thought it would be a playthrough I'd skip because at first it sounded a bit boring, but by the end, I enjoyed it so much, I've been binging it, I'd love to see you do a live stream and/or play the DLC. Thanks for playing John!
Yeah, this is playing on the backround while I'm drawing, or designing, or playing Stardew Valley. Thank you, your voice is pretty chill and soothing, and the game seems okay, so I wanted to know what happens in it without having to play it myself.
This channel has been a blast to watch. The low-no editing is just fine, you're super entertaining as always. Thanks for the company! You help me get through my workday!
This has been such a fun playthrough! Thanks for uploading it. And for all the years you painstakingly edited and crafted some top-quality series. I enjoy those just as much as I've enjoyed your more relaxed style in recent months -- actually, in some ways this has been more fun because you seem to be having more fun. It's almost like going full circle to the early days of anything-goes-and-nothing-matters playthroughs (your Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the World series comes to mind) except now you're much more honed because you know what works and what doesn't. Also, you have a bigger, ride-or-die following. Just don't ask us to ride over to Twitch, apparently :/
Great play through, been loving this second channel with gaming uploads everyday. You probably already chose your next game, but I really recommend subnautica. It’s got a lot to explore and the biomes have very unique (and dangerous) fish/sea monsters.
Ayy the endings! This was such a cool series to watch you play. Glad you got to see what swims around in the big open sea.I honestly love how its chill this game is with the lovcraftian horror slipping in. Hope to catch the dredge stream when it happens~
ALSO if you play Return of the Obra Dinn I would be so so so so endlessly excited. I would LOVE to watch you figure that game out. It is one of my absolute favorites. (alongside Inscryption)
I liked this game more than I thought i would. Completely agree with your comments about Pokemon Sword and Shield as it was my favourite to. Hope your next video is a best of 2023!
You didn't waste your time on all those hundreds of hours of editing though I'm so glad you don't have to now! I agree with you though on not getting in your own way... I have found that myself. It was crazy 10 years ago about that one topic only stuff. I think more now than ever people watch the person than the topic to a degree... Or that's just me lol. Not again like you need my help and i know you don't. It's the funny thing about caring about you creators as people it's easy to write things we think could be helpful... Yeah you got yt down, have other creators as friends and do it for a living. Sure saying turning on memberships would be great but you know that and have so many ways you already using your time making an income you don't need me. I like ya and your family and want you all to be successful, happy and healthy. I just try and remind myself all you want from me is watching and commenting (do it for you cause I genuinely enjoy you and minor tiny part for the algorithm) Be well John
Stardew fishing is horrible if you have mobility issues in your hands like I do and there’s no accessibility. They could’ve made Dredge harder and left the accessibility in the menu for folks like me but I much preferred their system.
great series! ive just recently found your channel and i appreciate the honesty and snark you have. and i do recommend subnautica, great variety of species, exploration and dread in it.
I always loved the editing you do, but I also like the non-edited stuff. It's like your streams, but without a chat full of people grabbing your attention while you play (which has it's own charm too). All in all you're just really talented at making videos. I quit making my own videos because of just how much work editing is. Removing uhs and sniffs and whatnot. I just don't have the time with my other responsibilities to dedicate to spending hours editing. I wish I had the talent and confidence to just upload without editing, haha. Would be a ton easier and maybe I wouldn't have quit years ago. Anyway, I think there's a place for all three types. Some stuff makes great streaming material, some stuff is good for being edited, and stuff like Dredge here is wonderful to sit back with you for the whole unedited ride. I'm here for what you bring to the games, the personality and reactions special to you. Very different from other content creators. Love the sass and snark. Best wishes and thanks for the time you put in giving us great content.
sunless sea/skies are great, but i wonder how much one can get out of them without having played a bunch of fallen london, the game from which they sprang
I prefer this channel over your other one now because these videos come out quicker, last longer and I’m usually only half paying attention anyways. On your other channel I feel more compelled to pay more attention.
I’m so into this game! When I first saw it I wasn’t interested as it looked basic and boring but after the first episode I was hooked. Love your gameplays John! Hope Kimmy and baby are doing well 😃
crab abberations..... crabberations....
best comment
You can passively catch a lot with the net, but the drawback is that the type of fish you get in it is really just down to the luck of the trawl
😂😂😂😂
"Like what am I doing right now...WHAT IS THAT?! HUMPBACK WHALE HUMPBACK WHALE.." I love your videos, advice, rambles, dad jokes and all. Thank you!
I don't like most game channels, they talk at a scream and overreact to everything. I prefer your commentary and a lot of the games you play.
Necessary "you dont ponder to toddlers like other youtube channels" comment variant as seen under every other John Wolfe video
Been watching him since 2017 during a really dark period in my life. It was his play through of Dropsy that got me interested in his style. No idea why, but a clown giving hugs to strangers while John exclaiming the nuances was just right.
@@ChangedWindsi also watched his dropsy play through! it was cozy and fun. for me i watched mermaid swamp and just loved his personality after that
i think its been echoed a bit already in the comments section but i've watched you over going on 12 years now because you're very well spoken, calm, and you always stress critical thinking while engaging with media. i will admit to using your videos to fall asleep sometimes, but it's not because you're boring XD you don't scream and flail around like a ton of other lets players and the calm way you speak alongside the ambient game noises are really, really calming when my brain won't shut up at the end of the night. i do understand why hearing that would be frustrating though. i'm glad you've found a good way to pivot so your energy feels more well spent.
i didn't expect to be as engaged as i wound up being for dredge, but jesus, i really, really am sad to see this let's play end! i know i'd watch you fish around for 6 hours straight if you ever felt like doing that. here's hoping you'll pick up the DLC and go through with a 100% stream for this game!
That is a fact. Perfect to watch before bed.
Factsss gotta ❤ John
This! I watch a vid when it's out, and listen to it when I'm going to sleep. It's also something about his voice and tone that just soothes my brain.
@@faevolans Exactly! No screaming or yelling and super fun to watch!
this, I do a lot of computer work and have adhd and I need something that I can remotely pay attention to to also help me do work, and multitasking helps encourage many people with adhd to perform certain tasks. There are other people's videos out there where I cannot retain any information from multitasking but it's these type of videos where I can actually pay enough attention to while still being able to work
I highly recommend Dave the Diver! I really enjoyed that game myself!! I found it to be quite unique!
Do hope you end up playing the DLC. It's nothing massive, but it offers a bit more fun IMO. Thanks as always for a fun series, this was a good one to unwind to.
he will! John said it in his stream a few days ago
I agree. I have the game saved to my playlists. Perfect to watch before I go to sleep.
The Dock worker also mentions at one point that no one seems to live on that island because they don't have any orders sent out there.
'I am as human as you are'
For years I've rewatched videos on your main channel as a comfort, you helped me through a horrible breakup just a few years back. I think I alone have contributed to hundreds of views on your rusty lake series. I appreciate all your work. I don't want you to feel like you aren't appreciated ❤️
John’s play throughs are the only ones I ever watch. I used to watch so many channels back In the day but John’s is the only one I watch now ❤
Watching you just trawling around collecting things is not boring at all, at least to me. Kinda relaxing.
I watch your videos at night BEFORE falling asleep. It helps me turn my brain off and decompress after long days, but it’s been especially helpful lately with a lot of personal stresses going on. I appreciate everything you do.
The amount of joy this playthrough has brought me is immesurable
One of my favourite recent games, happy to experience it again with John!
If you go crazy in the night and visit the temple you can see the eyes of the statues
The sass is irreplaceable.
Love the sass, lol.
I like Mark but Jack is, well, kinda dull witted.
Yes, please stream finishing the pokedex! I'm not ready for this series to end 😢😅 (I'll go to Twitch for it, don't worry 😂)
Your laid back ,down to earth, talk normal a lot of people like that...all your channels are my favorite channel...
I feel like your efforts in editing and carefully crafting your content was what led me to you (&maybe it also helped in favorably tipping the algorithm to find you in the early days, too!)
I’ve been watching you for 12 years-ish now and you’ve been a huge part of my life and its many transitions.
Cheers!
It's cool in the "good" ending how the mist dissipates once you're eaten by the huge fish.
The Twitch thing make me laugh
Yes I feel called out lol
honestly the twitch videoplayer sucks ass, i watch vods on it occasionally but only if i know the streamer wont upload them later, its just really unpleasant. and rewinding if something funny happens is really clunky, rewinding/skipping around is much more painless on youtube. so unless youre watching streams live yeah most people wont wanna go on it.
I believe those random rocks are another byproduct of sanity. Because as you saw they're not really there during the day when you feel better. And they have a red color to them as they fade in like other products of your insanity. Loved the playthrough John!
John just gave us a whole complete course on how to make TH-cam content
For free
though im an uncut vid enjoyer, the little edits and skits on your main channel are chefs kiss too 🤸🏻♂️ youre one of the 2 or 3 ytbers i watch that ACTUALLY make my poor attention span disappear and find genuinely funny so ! thanks john
Well now I feel bad that I used to consistently and still do from time to time. Fall asleep to John's silent House video.😝 But that's only because I sat through the whole thing the first time and it was that classic John commentary with his boomer jokes that help me not feel so old. And the constant thunder in the background. 😁
Love what you do John, don't ever stop growing.❤
I honestly love the wide variety of games and videos John does. From "ghost" videos to a "fishing" game to Baldur's Gate to an "appeasing the company" game 😂
Can't wait to see what he chooses to play next 🎉🎉
I just finished part 8 and then you dropped this! My respect for John Wolfe is beyond immeasurable.
When john broke one of his engines as he was heading to the edge of the world, i started smirking ear the ear, waiting with glee. 😏
I like the collecting stuff. That edge of the map got me lol
33:50 love when games do this type of thing
Thank you for the playthrough of Dregde! You were spot on with your plot prediction.
I recently started watching your videos maybe within the last couple months and I genuinely feel like there rewatch ability is top tier. Most videos I rewatch because there just that good and also cus they’re like a comfort vid .. appreciate the content.
Glad im not the only one whose jaw dropped a little seeing the man himself rise in the Bad ending lol
I thought the game was pretty well balanced from a difficulty level, especially as someone who doesn't play much horror.
Loved your channel for years
Sad to see it come to end! Made me want to play it again and find the aberrations😊 Thank you for another great series!
Im gonna miss starting my day with new Dredge videos.
Thanks for the finishing the whole game! You should definitely check out the DLC :)
I refuse to use Twitch. The ads are so obnoxious, and I can't seem to be able to go backward on the stream (not sure if it's a feature or if I'm stupid). Sooo frustrating
Thank you for the series John it’s the first series I’ve watched in a long time and because of you I bought this game as well!
You help me get through my workday!
great game and fun playthrough
Oh no you are my favourite asmr channel, I always fall asleep to these videos 😂 but it’s a good thing, keeping me sane 😁
I was wondering about influensahhh. I really enjoyed the episodes. Glad to hear future episodes aren't completely off the table.
I just try and remind myself all you want from me is watching and commenting (do it for you cause I genuinely enjoy you and minor tiny part for the algorithm)
Be well John
I loved this series, you did a great work John, thank you for the content
Damn, now I feel bad for vacuuming while listening to your gameplay in the background. Lol!
Something kind of similiar to this would be a game by the name of Sunless Sea - fantastic piece of work, though it takes a lot more reading!
sunless sea/skies are great, but i wonder how much one can get out of them without having played a bunch of fallen london, the game from which they sprang
