I know some people just feel everything was better back in the day, but I'm totally with you here. I watched literally about half of the shows on this list and watch NOTHING from the 2010's. Hell, I can't name many shows from the 2000's that I watched either.
So I'm not the only one! I watched a number of these shows and watched TV often (maybe more than I should have) during the 90's but hardly watch TV now. I don't know what happened... the quality of programming seems to have declined. I've NEVER been into shows like The Big Bag Theory or How I Met Your Mother. I basically just watch re-runs of The Twilight Zone and X-Files at night now before going to bed. TV used to be so much better.
Everyone says that but just because they aren't still on doesn't mean we don;t watch them. These shows are the reason I spend 80 dollars a year on amazon prime.
You know you hit a midlife crises when you are 33 years old and you become nostalgic for the 90's. No wonder we thought our parents were nuts. Btw Friday the 13th the series was the best show on TV.
Greattttt video. I love some of these Shows named that I grew up too: ghost writer, Doug, duck tales, simpsons, fresh prince of bel air, sister sister, wonder years, batman, power rangers, saved by the bell, teenage mutant ninja turtles, etc... Just a shame the Cosby show wasn't mentioned.😂😂🤣
I've started a list of *WatchMojo UK's* lists, list entries, person/place/TV show/film visual mentions, and person/place/TV show/film audible mentions, to show how clueless they are. I'm a few months behind but I'll finish it eventually. I was hoping to finish it by the time they had 300 videos, but they're not far off 400 now, so I'm expecting to publish it on websites like *Quora,* (and email to their bosses if I can get their addresses) by the time they have around 500 videos, so it's a nice even number. These Top 10 Channels which are mainly run by Canadians and Americans are clueless when it comes to what the UK likes. They all have the same interests, and mention the same overrated shows and people again and again, most likely because that's all they know from what they've been shown on American TV. But *WatchMojo UK* is just as bad, if not worse. It has a Welsh born guy whose obsessed with everything Japanese, and has lived in Canada for over 10 years, as one of the main presenters. And a posh Englishman (who claims to be a Scouser, even though he's most likely from a posh nearby town), who also lived in Canada for a few years, and loves everything geeks love as the other presenter. Neither of them can words properly either. You can guarantee there will be at least one mispronunciation in each video. Whether that's words in the dictionary, or the names or people, places or things, there will always be a mistake. The adopted Canadian mispronouncing the names of British things is understandable, but it isn't from the Brit who still lives here, and has done for 95% of his life. It's clear neither of them have bothered to look at weekly, monthly, or annual TV ratings in the UK, because if they did they would have done some video's on *ITV's* biggest shows by now, rather than focusing on the *BBC* and *Channel 4.* *ITV's* main flagship channel *ITV* is the 2nd most watched channel in the UK, after *BBC One,* and beats it a lot of the time, yet they keep ignoring it's shows. Yes it's not as good as it was before the 2010's (specifically the 1990's when *ITV* kicked the *BBC's* arse in almost every genre), but it still pulls in the viewers. They'd rather talk about cult *BBC,* *Channel 4,* or *Sky One* comedies which got less than 4 million viewers (most got around 2 million viewers or less) countless times, than mention *ITV* sitcoms like *Benidorm* which consistently got over 8 million viewers for over 10 years, and hasn't been mentioned once. It's the same case with other genres like soaps, dramas, game shows, quiz shows, panel shows, talk shows, talent shows, reality shows, kids shows etc, as they constantly ignore shows from the 2nd most watched channel in the UK *ITV* and the 6th most watched channel in the UK *ITV 2.* *BBC One,* *BBC Two,* *Channel 4* and *Channel 5* make up the rest of the Top 6 taking the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th most watched channels respectively. The other channels from the Big 6 networks *BBC,* *ITV,* *Channel 4,* *Channel 5,* *Sky,* and *UKTV* aren't really worth mentioning as they barely get any viewers, however they some of them have a few shows worth watching. In my opinion *BBC Three,* *E4,* *5Star,* *Sky One,* *Sky Atlantic,* *Dave* and *Drama,* are the best of the minority channels for British TV. It's also clear they haven't bothered to check anything else like: NTA/BAFTA/BSA/TRIC/RTS etc TV award winners and nominees. Brit/MOBO/Mercury/MTV etc music award winners and nominees. Official Charts UK/iTunes Charts UK single or album music charts. Musician/comedian arena/theatre/festival etc sales. BAFTA/BIFA/Empire/LFCCA/BFI-LFF etc film award winners and nominees. Plus many more award ceremonies organised by towns, cities, TV networks, broadband networks, magazines, newspapers, theatres, cinemas, film academies, film festivals, websites etc. These TH-cam channels need someone working in their offices who isn't a university educated know-it-all, or a geek type who's obsessed with things like sci-fi, fantasy, comics, rock music, cult sitcoms, anime etc, will do that much needed research, has a different opinion to them, and is British. Basically they need me!
Let's be real here. It's almost impossible to argue that the 90's wasn't one of the golden ages of television. We had great shows like The Simpsons (which is still pretty good, but was godly in the 90's), Married with Children, Friends, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and even cartoons like Darkwing Duck, Batman: The Animated Series (my personal favorite cartoon/TV show of all time), Animaniacs, Gargoyles, DBZ, and the original Pokemon anime were several miles ahead of their time (and, unfortunately, even miles ahead of our time). I may have been a late 90's kid, but I spent a lot of my childhood watching these shows. They're timeless.
Dreadfury Seinfeld was bigger than Friends in the 90s, and I personally think it was much more significant and laid down the ground work for shows like Friends--it was a real representation of 90s television, and the great era it was for TV!
I watched: Animaniacs, Secret World of Alex Mac, Pinky and the Brain, X-Files, Dark Wing Duck, Full House, Duck Tales, Tiny Toon Adventures, Married with Children, Garfield, Rocko's Modern Life, Beavis and Butthead, Rugrats, Buffy, Batman, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Boy Meets World, Chip and Dale, Doug, Bobby's World, Goof Troop, Ghost Writer, Wishbone, Lamp Chop's, Family Matters, The Simpsons, Fresh Prince, The Magic School Bus, TaleSpin, Sailor Moon, Sabrina, Spider-Man, Everybody Loves Raymond, The Big Comfy Couch, Beast Wars, King of the Hull, Home Improvement, Rupert, Under The Umbrella Tree, ReBoot, Mr. Bean, Barney (when I was young... ugh), Video and Arcade TopTen, Breaker High, Power Rangers, Goosebumps, Xena, Hey Arnold, Shining Time Station, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles... As well as The Outer Limits (my favorite show ever), Student Bodies, Arthur and other shows... From THIS decade, the only new series I can recall watching is Zoo. I watched the first season and stopped watching the second when they killed off Chloe. Fuck, TV is shit now compared to the old days.
Ah, alot of favourites! And memories. I would like to add a few: Sliders, Seaquest, North of 60, Earth 2, Robocop, Due South, Highlander. TV back then was better then what's on these days.
The 90s was so much better than today in my opinion. If you looked at all the shows back then they were vastly more family oriented and sensible. I came from stumbling across an old video of Home Improvement with tim taylor. Im 27 now but i miss the 90s the most!
The order you had Family Matters, The Simpsons and Fresh Prince at 3:11 was the same order it use to come on CBC in Canada in the 90's, every weekday after school. Great memories
Hello, this list of 100 best tv shows of the 90s brings back lots of great memories for me. I have pretty much seen most of these shows and still enjoy watching them.
Many of my '90s favorites are missing--"The Adventures Of Pete & Pete", "Liquid Television", "Muscle", "Nowhere Man", "Strange Luck", "Early Edition", "Fifteen", "VR5", "Dream On", "Whose Line Is It, Anyway?" (British), "Absolutely Fabulous", "Smack The Pony", "South Park" (it's continued, of course, but premiered in 1997), "BattleBots", "The Man Show", "The Weakest Link", "Twin Peaks", "Herman's Head", "Weird TV", "The Edge", "Strip Mall", "Clueless" (only the first season--not so good after it switched networks), "TV Nation", "The Weird Al Show", "Eerie, Indiana", "Daria", "Prey", "Dead At 21", "New York Undercover", "Sliders" (the first couple of seasons, anyway), "100 Centre St.".
My favorite 90s tv series of all time is:- 1. Full houses 2. Family matters 3. Friends 4. Fresh prince of bel air 5. Boy meets world 6. Are you afraid of the dark 7. Sabrina the teenage witch 8. Buffy the vampire slayer
remember so many of these...majestic times....so much fun and simpler the 90s will be missed...I loved the so many trends..and just the times were great. I miss my youth.
Rafael Barbosa Thundercars and Silverhawks were actually 80's, Cartoon Network just aired the reruns in the 90's. It doesn't matter if you 90's kids want to claim them, though. Like I said a few seconds ago, no use in splitting hairs.
It was a great decade not only for TV shows but also movies, music, sports, culture in general, interesting people and ideas. The 60s and 90s were the best decades of the 20th century in my opinion.
Super-teen extraordinaire Freakazoid! Freakazoid! Runs around in underwear Freakazoid! Freakazoid! Also, thanks for this. I love how short and concise it is. Not with annoying commentary.

I know some people just feel everything was better back in the day, but I'm totally with you here.
I watched literally about half of the shows on this list and watch NOTHING from the 2010's. Hell, I can't name many shows from the 2000's that I watched either.

I've NEVER been into shows like The Big Bag Theory or How I Met Your Mother. I basically just watch re-runs of The Twilight Zone and X-Files at night now before going to bed. TV used to be so much better.
Wonder Years,Party of Five, ER,NYPD and X Files were the best shows in my opinion
Paul Grewal i miss the 90's
I missed the 90's...good times...i cant believe the 90's is more than 20 years ago....man, time sure flies....
I actually felt sad looking at some of them but did anyone else take out an imaginary shot gun for Barney
Yeah, it sure does fly. How did the past 8 years since leaving this comment go?
Man I miss these shows. So grateful to have been born in 87. I feel so sorry for the youth today, they missed out
Everyone says that but just because they aren't still on doesn't mean we don;t watch them. These shows are the reason I spend 80 dollars a year on amazon prime.
I have been watching them on youtube.
All the Clarissa explains it all episodes aren't on youtube :c
i've found hey arnold, doug, some boy meets world episodes, and rugrats so far
they have all the Sabrina the teenage witch ones. Too bad theres only 7 season :c
I'm so depress I wish I can go back
+Marcellus Austin I feel your pain man.
You know you hit a midlife crises when you are 33 years old and you become nostalgic for the 90's. No wonder we thought our parents were nuts. Btw Friday the 13th the series was the best show on TV.
It was even though it had nothing to do with the movies really. The show is inderrated
I feel you
The 90s was the best decade for TV! So cool that you included Ready Or Not. Not to many people know about that show! It was one of my favourites.
I miss the 90's soooo much. I just wanna cry.
I wanna cry.....damn someone invent a time machine.

thank you for including Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena: Warrior Princess!
+Douglas Morris i was gonna say that.
This list was much better than Watch Mojo's list
true
every list is much better than garbage called watch mojo
I've started a list of *WatchMojo UK's* lists, list entries, person/place/TV show/film visual mentions, and person/place/TV show/film audible mentions, to show how clueless they are.

There needs to be a channel dedicated to the 90s!!! Who's with me?!
Thanks for sharing, it really brought back great memories.I loved the 90's!
