    I find the white guy dancing as an equal among the black guys to the be a fine message of acceptance. It doesn't really matter what your skin color is, your culture is what you grew up with. And even if you haven't grown up with it, it is never impossible to become part of a culture.

    Gotta love the white guy meddling in the middle

    I think it is more that it is because he is South African, and the Dutch ( the Boers ) took over that area before the British got a hold of it, so it is not surprising to see a white male there because of the major mixes down there. I could be wrong of course but I feel like it is a logical explanation, either that or he is just so enticed by the dance that he wishes to be included and practice that dance.

    It's not that people have a problem with color, at least not in my case, it was that you were just so there! You stuck out of that group and it was a novelty.

    And after 3 years of hard work, and dedication this group was part of the South African Team of Performing Arts that had to represent their Country at the World Championships and believe it or not, NOT ONE CENT FROM GOVERMENT. Which means they could not represent their country because our goverment didn't see the need.
    So, all of you out there, get with the program please, Would you laugh at a black dude doing ballet or ballroom. I can dance this cultural dance and many others better than .....

    I'm trying to understand why everyone is up in arms about asking why there's a white guy on stage. Watching a traditional African dance, it's logical for someone to expect the group to be all black. Is that racist? No. Africans tend to have darker complexions and when a lighter person appears, it's surprising. That's all. The words white or black don't always have negative racial undertones :P
    But anyway, amazing performance and thank you Smith for putting it all together!

    Guys, there is a 'white guy' in there because South Africa is not entirely black same as England is not entirely white. As a matter of fact, England colonized parts of Africa decades ago, so descendants remain as well as people who choose to relocate like artists and missionaries.

    I'm not going to lie. I thought the white fellow seemed completely out of place, considering the damage his own racial group did to the Zulu and other African peoples. I can only go so far as I do have some white ancestry in my own line, but seeing that bothered me a little bit. While I do appreciate this young man's enthusiasm and appreciation for the Zulu culture, it just looked weird seeing him in there.

  • @smangalisa
    @smangalisa  12 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Let me put everybody out of their missery!!! I am THE WHITE GUY!!!
    Cant believe that in this day and age people still have a problem with colour. I am that white guy that made the effort to help out a black group with talent to become something. Taking them places where they never have been before. Exposing them to the world out there. All these kids, with no income, making some money with dance to put food on the table. And yes, without my helping hand all of this would not have been possible.

    • @kimberlypurifoy2089

      So, you couldn’t have helped them without placing yourself front and center. Doesn’t seem like you were helping THEM at all. You being involved seems very self-centered and self-serving if you ask me. You definitely didn’t do this out of kindness, because you could’ve done that from the front row. But what more can one expect from a colonizer!

    • @queenbulova5682
