This was the BEST invisible zipper tutorial. You not only teach exactly how to do it, you give so many nuggets on why and what could go wrong and how to correct it if it does. Thank you so much for all the detail in this!!
this was amazing. I paused, pinned, went back, rewatched, a number of times and came out with a lovely zipper. Could not have asked for a more clear tutorial
Ignore the rude comments - they are just trolls looking for attention. All of us here to actually learn how to do this are very grateful for you intricate explanations. Thank you! I definitely want to try an invisible zipper now.
Oh thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely message and for being so kind. I am grateful for your lovely comment and am pleased that you and hopefully others feel that way. Thank you so much! Good luck with your sewing. Aneka :-))

This is the best tutorial! I was worried about sewing an invisible zip and found a lot of the videos and tutorials confusing. This is clear, detailed and not rushed. My zip came out perfect!!
Wow, that is very kind of you. Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely comment. I am really pleased that you enjoyed the tutorial and found it useful. Thank you. All best with your zips! Aneka :-))

You are a pleasure to watch, a pleasure to hear and a pleasure to be taught by. Thank you.
The best spent 43 minutes of my life - clear and patient explanation, contrasting colours, good light and clear camera angle all made this tutorial very easy to follow. No more wasted time unpicking and replacing zips for me - thankyou.
These are the very best tutorials on TH-cam. Thank you so much. I rewatch them.. no distracting music, very clear instructions.. taking nothing for granted.. excellent camera work. I have watched many tutorials about sewing techniques.. and yours are the best.
I'm a beginner and self taught and this tutorial has helped me through two invisible zippers so far! I can imagine I'll keep coming back to watch it whenever I sew one until I feel comfortable with them, it's super helpful and everything is well explained. Such a lifesaver!
If you’re still reading comments, Thank You!! You saved my dress project from a very poorly-designed, poorly executed PDF pattern which had, as a final construction step, the invisible side zip (specifically required) installed like a regular one. What a mess. Of the many sewing videos I’ve watched for various techniques, yours is far and away the clearest. Subscribed!
You have the most amazing speaking voice that I have ever heard. I don't think I've ever had such a fabulous tutorial in my life. This is the best zip tutorial in all of You Tube. Thank you so so much for this wonderful instruction.
Zippers have already been a mystery to me. I've had several teachers try to explain it and they go over things so fast that I don't understand it, but in 42 minutes you took your time and not only did I sew (successfully) my first zipper, I did an invisible one!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

As a seamstress who has installed hundreds of invisible zippers, I can say this is an excellent tutorial for someone learning how to put one in. I don't know why, but I still get an amazing sense of satisfaction when I look at the finished install. They really are easier than regular zippers and you get such a professional look.
INCREDIBLE video!! For those of us learning, know that we appreciate the clear detail you go into, it makes the sometimes complicated world of sewing far easier and more accessible. Thank you!
Thank you. after watching a bunch of 2 minute videos on putting in invisible zippers, I was confused to say the least. So glad I found your video. So clear, thank you. I watched, rewound and watched again, I still got the first side of the zip in the wrong way! NOT because of the video, my bad, fortunately I had hand basted because of needing to match seams. Whipped it out and did it again, had to do some adjustments so the seams would match but then perfect, I'm so pleased with the results. I don't have an invisible zipper foot, but I think I'll purchase one. Thank you again for such a clear and understandable video
You are simply amazing - best teacher ever! I am in a foreign country where I cannot find sewing classes in English, at least not from anyone who is an expert. I haven’t put in an invisible zipper in 20 years. I’ve ripped it out 8 times I think. I’ve been watching TH-cam tutorials, struggling for about 8 hours. I think it will still be difficult because of the lining. But I think I can. I wish I had found yours first. I look forward to finding more things from you once these dresses for the wedding are out of the way. 😉 Thank you for teaching.
Thank you for such a wonderfully detailed explanation on invisible zippers. All aspects and possible disasters were addressed so clearly. Feeling alot more confident now to tackle a new sewing technique.
I finally sewed my first invisible zipper today! Great success. This is the only video where I had the “ah-ha” moment of “I can do this”. Thank you so much!

I saw 4 other invisible zippers on TH-cam, this video is the best one. Thank you for using Metric as well, for us in Australia it helps so much- even though I've been sewing casually for 40 years. regards, from Brisbane Australia
Excellent video! It's been ages since I have sewn anything and an invisible zipper was always a challenge. Her method makes it easier and I will no longer fear it. My daughter doesn't like most patterns on dresses out there so I have been recruited to sew a few. Beyond zippers I used to be very good. Now I am ready to get started again to custom make a few aline short sleeved dresses. Thank you so much! I appreciate your articulate instructions, great photography and thankfully no annoying background music to distract. A+++ video!
I love it! Beneficial to us who didn't had a formal training❤️💚 looking forward for more tutorials. Thank you and may the Lord bless you as you help others❤️❤️❤️
Top notch tutorial with clear explanations including optional basting, tacking and machine feet, fantastic videography and additional tutorials for plaid fabrics. Daniel
Thank you for your wonderful tutorial on inserting a concealed zip, it was most helpful. I have to adjust a bridesmaid dress my granddaughter is wearing (it was purchased abroad by the bride and is far too big) and it has a concealed zip which I will have to remove and insert again once I have taken the dress in and in all my years of sewing (54) I have never encountered a concealed zip! Or rather I think I may have steered clear of it. You explain it so thoroughly and clearly and the photography is wonderful. You have a real gift for properly explaining. Thank you so much for teaching an old dog a new trick.
Hello Phyllis, thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely comment. I am so pleased that you like my video and style of explaining. I wish you all the best with the adjustment, but I am sure that you will do a beautiful job. Best, Aneka
At 62, I’m just learning to sew, and my first project is a dress with an invisible zipper. Out of many videos on this subject, yours is THE BEST!! I’m no longer scared to death that I’ll end up with a VISIBLE zipper!! LOL!!!
Great instruction. Between your video and another one online, I'm happy to say I mastered invisible zippers - sewing into pillow forms specifically. Your tips especially at the end about changing feet from the invisible zipper foot to the regular zipper foot to sew the very top and bottom of the zipper - excellent. I did that, I switch from the invisible zipper to the regular zipper foot then to my regular pressed foot to finish it off. I'm somewhat a perfectionist, and I have to say, thanks to your video instruction, they look spectacular. THANKS TO YOU!!!
Bless you, thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely message. I am so pleased I could help you, and you have managed to get a perfect invisible zip. Like you I am a perfectionist and things have to be 'just so', with a professional finish. Wishing you all the best, Aneka x
Thank you for this fantastic tutorial! My first zip ever is finished :D I managed to change a really badly inserted in-your-face zipper on an old dress made by my mom in the 70's or the 80's that I'm refashioning into a crop top + skirt set for myself. The whole thing being very far from perfect, and me a beginner at sewing, I can't say it went smoothly... but after a lot of measuring, unpicking and restitching the skirt got a beautiful invisible zip!
Thank you Aneka. Your tutorial was immensely helpful to me with some project I had. I watched it several times to get it right. One thing I didn't do which caused a problem later on was that I didn't watch the end part of the tutorial regarding how to finish the end of the zipper. It would have saved me huge headaches as I couldn't understand why the end part of the invisible zipper would be harder than the zipper itself. Now that I've watched again - to the end I know what to do and will do some practicing. Looking forward to more of your tutorials. I would love to take a certificate class from you if any are offered online. Many things you teach were not taught in my current course unfortunately. Thanks so much again.
Hi Elizabeth, Thank you so such a lovely message. I am so pleased I could help. I do have some Online Classes on my website: madetosew.com/classes/online-classes/ More will come this year. They don't currently have certificates, but I can definitely make this happen. Thanks, Aneka
Hi Helen, thank you for your lovely message. I am SO pleased you enjoyed it and I have been able to help you master the invisible zipper. Thank you and good luck with your sewing. Aneka x
This is the best tutorial for positioning an invisible zipper. It works like magic. I just tried it and the zipper looks professional. Thanks so much Aneka.
Excellent tutorial. Easy to follow along. Accurate instructions and we'll taught. I searched many before finding this one and glad I took the time to keep looking. Thank you.🇬🇧
I followed your instructions today and inserted my first concealed zip. I actually found it easier than a normal zip. I am going to use concealed zips from now on. Thank you so much.
Oh I am so pleased. Yes I agree that they are easier and look more professional than normal zips. So pleased that I could help you. Best Wishes, Aneka x
I found this extremely helpful because I was just struggling to put an invisible zipper on a dress I am making. I can't thank you enough for your help.
Your detailed instructions were GREAT! First zipper foot I've ever done and just followed you step by step sewing along the way to completion. My project came out fantastic!
I've just sewn my first excellent invisible zip!!!! I found this so easily to follow and finally understand just what it is I'm doing. Thank you so much.
This is an amazing tutorial! Your explanations were so clear and even allowed a total newbie to understand how these zippers worked. I was able to sew a very nice invisible zipper in my prom dress thanks to you!
I watched this video twice and was inspired to practice sewing a zipper on left over pieces of quilting fabric. It turned out pretty good! I feeling confident enough to sew a zipper on a skirt. Thank you for this great tutorial.
Aneka, thanks so much for this brilliant tutorial which explains the process very clearly. Now I am ready to tackle putting the invisible zip in my cushion and watching this video has certainly helped to refresh my memory.

I have been sewing for nearly 40 years but have never done an invisible zip. Thank you so much for your detailed explanation of how to do it - I feel a lot more confident to try.
Oh bless you that's very sweet. We try and keep it tidy so it's always enjoyable and clean for our students - but some days are better than others :-))!
I have just put in my first invisible zipper, using this tutorial. It s extremely helpful. The detailed explanation helps to keep me on track, as they tell me exactly what to look out for. I have used several of your videos and they have greatly contributed to my sewing experience. Keep it up.
This is awesome! I have followed your instructions and it actually worked!!! My zipper is perfect for the first time. Thanks so much! I wish you make more tutorials, they are so good :)
Thank you that is so kind of you. I am so pleased that I could help. I do my best to make as many tutorials as possible - there is never enough time in the day! I still teach in person classes most weeks, so I have to fit around these. I have some free dressmaking patterns I will be launching asap and this will come with LOTS of tutorials. Aneka :-))
I have finished my McCalls' skirt following your instructions. I would be very pleased with an outcome if it wouldn't be slightly too big for me in hip area. I measured myself and size 16 was exactly my size. the finished skirt however is too loose. As you said - they added 4 inches which really is too much. I wonder if I can do something now? I would hate to rework it since it is sewed so nicely :). But I suspect there is no other way?
Anna Olejnik Hi Anna, is it just the hip area? Is the waist ok? In that case it should be an easy fix. Decide how much you want to take in and where? Perhaps try the skirt on inside out and pin in new stitching lines around the hip. You want to do this to the side seams only. Make sure that both sides match and re sew the seam you have pinned. Check it is correct. If it is correct then you remove the original stitching and press the seam open. If you have lots of seam allowance now you might want to trim this off and finish it as you did before. Let me know how you get on. Thank you so much for following the tutorial, I do hope you liked it! Aneka x
Aneka, you're such an amazing teacher, not everyone who can sew teaches sewing as well as you do! I really can't thank you enough for all your detailed tutorials; God bless 🙏🙏🙏

Thank you so much, this is so clear, and like your other replies, so easy to follow by pausing then doing a bit and watching a bit more..I have been searching for weeks to find instruction that are clear, so many have camera problems, or tend to use eg black zips on black material and you just cannot follow them...you did exactly right using different colour threads fabric and zip..amazing thankyou

I saw 4 other invisible zippers on TH-cam, this video is the best one. Thank you for using Metric as well, for us in Australia it helps so much- even though I've been sewing casually for 40 years. regards, from Brisbane Australia
Thank you very much Marietta. Aneka x
A+++ video!
Very pleased that you liked the video. Thank you.
I love it! Beneficial to us who didn't had a formal training❤️💚 looking forward for more tutorials. Thank you and may the Lord bless you as you help others❤️❤️❤️
Thank you. Glad this helped you.
The best teacher on you tube. Clear and precise instructions.well done.!!
Thank you! so much!😍
Top notch tutorial with clear explanations including optional basting, tacking and machine feet, fantastic videography and additional tutorials for plaid fabrics. Daniel
Thanks so much Daniel.
LOL!!!
redrobyn Good luck 👍🏻
Amazing news, SO pleased I could help. I hope it went ok? Aneka x
You are great at these online tutorials , l have learned so many things from you, many thanks keep going we all appreciate you.❤
Thanks so much Wendy.
Wendy I do agree ❤
Thank you so much for your easy to follow instructions. I feel confident now to put in an invisible zip and look forward to more of your videos.
Glad it was helpful!
Wow this sounds incredible, what an amazing project. Glad I could help. Aneka x

Aneka x
I am definitely going to try this. Thanks so much for your advise!
I hope it works. Aneka x

Holy! I never imagined how complicated invisible zippers could be!
Once you have done them a few times they aren't that complicated. Just comes with practise! :-))
They are easy to sew it.
Thanks so much for the lovely message. Really glad this tutorial worked for you and your found it easy to follow. Thank you. Aneka x
