12:02 what makes Titus so special? *Adamantium strong will.* Here are the quote from the Roboute Gulliman (when he was possed by His father's power) about will and it's importance in Nurgle's face: ‘Hear me!’ Guilliman’s voice boomed through eternities. The sword blazed higher, until the fire of it threatened to burn out time. ‘I am Roboute Guilliman, last loyal son of the Emperor of Mankind. It is not your destiny to end today, God of Plague, but know that I am coming for you, and I will find you, and you will burn.’ He gripped the Sword of the Emperor two-handed and raised it high. Rising waves of fire ripped into the garden. From the great manse a cry of rage sounded, as a wall of flame hotter than a million suns devoured everything in its path, finally breaking and receding within yards of the black walls of Nurgle’s house in his Gardens. Its infinite halls shook. Mossy tiles fell from the roof. Sodden timbers steamed. ‘This is a warning. The warp and the materium were once in balance. For too long, you have tipped the scales. Understand that it is not only the warp that is capable of pushing back. *This realm is not real. Only will is real. And none in all existence may outmatch my will.* Be assured, Lord of Plagues, and convey this message to your brothers, that I do not speak for myself. I speak for the Emperor of Mankind.'
The Iron Halo is a prestigious honour that is granted only to the most exceptional of the Astartes within a Space Marine Chapter as a reward for uncommon initiative and valour. It is most often worn by the Chapter's captains and Chapter Master, though Veteran Astartes and sergeants can also earn the right to add it to their armour in certain circumstances.
Grey Knights are not taken from other Chapters, if I'm not mistaken. He is just resistant to the Warp, no wonder they use him for Chaos-related missions.
@@jorgeruiz5405 I wonder if ''they'' even know this is something he brings to the table. If they did you wouldn't think the projected mortality would be absolute.
@@SCORPIOP Leandros (and Calgar) planned for Titus to go on this mission, likely unaware of his gift, blinded by distrust, or maybe has a suspicion and wants to see for himself, so there is some sense in them believing no marine would survive as no normal untainted marine should. It's possible he actually wanted to see Titus fall to prove he's not tainted, meaning we may get even more anger from Leandros when we see him next. Calgar absolutely has an idea thanks to the ending of SM2 and other events which is probably why he was fine with sending Titus on this mission, he likely wants to see what Titus is truly capable of and has him being sent into all kinds of hell to test him.
@@SCORPIOP I think they (the Chapter leaders, Calgar and a few others) test his abilities in these suicide missions for any normal astartes. I want to believe he has proven his loyalty more than enough.

So much details. Child Titus carried the same combat knife as the grown up veteran Titus. a giant sword in the hand of a child, a knife in the hand of an Angel of Death. Thank you for reacting so fast.
Without a doubt Syama Pedersen made this. I'm glad that he was officially hired to make the cinematics. His attention to detail is amazing. EDIT: for those who don't know him, he's the one that made the Astartes fan film.
He's credited as a layout artist, so he set up the camera angles for each shot, which is very clear from the style of the episode. Hopefully, this is his first step on a life long career!
While he only did the camera stuff, it’s very clear they’re paying homage to his work. The way the Ultramarines are shown just absolutely butchering the cultists, the minimal dialogue, the insane Warp shit at the end…
On the contrary: he may well have suggested Titus because he knows he has an innate resistence to chaos. Remember this Leandros is not the same we knew. Putting aside the time that has passed I dont think for one minute Calgar would have let Leandros betray his friend to the inquisition without telling the Ultramarines Chaplains to be EXTRA hard on him. It would have likely been an element of poetic justice to it too - something akin to "you think you know the rules of our chapter so well you will spend the rest of your life enforcing them." This one note Leandros take needs to pass now. Its high time if he is a Chaplain worth a damn the writers have him acknowledge that Titus clearly has the Emperor watching over him.
At the end of Space Marine II, the Chapter Master said that Titus would be transferred to another location because his skills were needed. I think this is the mission the Chapter Master sent him on.
Lmao can you imagine. Getting told how important you are, how invaluable you are to the Chapter by the Chapter Master, only to be sent to a suicide mission immediately.
After the end of Space Marine 2, I was convinced Titus has the same ability the Sisters of Battle do. Not quite Pariah nullification, but such immense willpower and faith as to be the bane of Daemons. That and his amygdala probably doesn't work, hence he doesn't feel fear.
Thats the sisters of silence. They're all blanks. Which makes everyone around them incredibly uncomfortable. So I wouldnt say thats what Titus is, because everyone is pretty normal around him.
@@Mare_Man What he means is just like Grey Knights they are artificially wiped. Thats why he called them blanks. Titus isnt a blank, he is just fearless.
@@Mare_Man it’s understandable. The way he’s describing them sounded a lot like the sisters of silence. I see now he’s just talking about their tremendous willpower. But that’s not an ability comparable to pariah nullification that is the bane of demons. So that’s where the confusion stems from. Because the sisters of silence as blanks, have the ability to to disrupt psychic energies of the warp, and can literally banish demons just by being in the same room as one.
8:30 Titus used to have an Iron Halo in the first game. The Iron Halo appears to share the same basic technological mechanisms as the Space Marine Chaplain's Rosarius, as they both produce a protective force field effect using poorly-understood Conversion Field technology, which makes his armour even harder to pierce with enemy ranged and melee weapons. In addition it also provides its user with immense resilience to even the most potent weapons such as Lascannons and missiles of all varieties. The energy shield the Iron Halo generates stands a good chance of deflecting many deadly projectiles that would slay even an unprotected Space Marine with ease.
Yeah, this baddie is new. Doesn't show up on the tabletop or in games yet. Listed as Sorcerer and the iconography and effects make it very clear it's a creature of Tzeentch of *some* sort. I would really like more lore on this thing.
@@HistoritorJimaldus No way. A demon prince is atleast primarch level. Titus can resist alot but a demon prince would absolutely demolish him at this point.
Our Emperor who art in Terra, Hallowed be thy name. Your empire come, your will be done, on Cadia as on Terra. Give us this day our daily battle cannon ammo. Purge us of our sins, as we purge those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from chaos
Titus is simple to explain. He is a man that does not need or want for anything other than doing his duty. He fears nothing because it does not matter. He will do his duty no matter what. Now, being resistant to chaos means chaos has nothing to offer him. He would die before becoming corrupted and he does not fear death. None of the Four would have any hold on him.
So, we see that as a child, Titus walked right up to an Angel of Death, dragging a blade he'd apparently taken from _another_ space marine, and even then showed no fear, simply saying "Out of my way, old man." Metaurus describes Child!Titus as "Filled with pain and rage". That's why Titus has no fear - he's filled with pain and rage, with no room for fear.
The Iron Halo projects a forcefield around the bearer protecting them from all manner of attacks. Those marines are Bladeguard Veterans, and they all bear one
This episode was amazing, have watched the first combat scene over and over again in slow motion from the clip that Prime ANZ posted up. Just the absolute efficiency in the sergeants movements, fairly sure he takes out 20 cultists by himself. I believe the three other space marines are Bladeguard Veterans and each one of them have Iron Halos. Also Leandros is going to be pissed that Titus survived an encounter with yet another Chaos Sorcerer :D
Titus is just built different, when his home world was attacked, before he met metaurus, the scene where he was dragging an astates knife, instead of fleeing he stood and fought then metaurus met him bathe in the blood of his enemies, so even before he became astartes he was already fearless. Titus is literally incorruptible as all corruption is surpased by his rage and courage.
@johnnyrocket1685 your right, that lack of fear is lack of courage but to say titus is a mosnter is pure dumb and one sided, monster also lack other emotion and have no brotherhood, faith, trust, loyalty etc. your looking at it in one dimention and Your sounding like the living difinition of leandros lol.
6:05 I love how these people are like the mud under their boots, they literally walk trough them. People who know the lore understand that these are not the enemy, they are like the dust in the wind, disturbs your vision a little bit, but that's all they do.
The Astropath was chosen since all Sanctioned Pyskers who become Astropaths are Soulbound to the Emperor and why they are all blind; their eyes burn from their skulls when looking upon Him in the Warp (among other things). This transference of a piece of the Emperor's power to the Psyker makes them much more resistant to the corruption of Chaos...though, obviously they are mortal still and not immune entirely to the whispers of the Dark Gods.
The Iron Halo's serve a dual function; they are the standard-issue out-put module for personal forcefields, but they are also specifically anti-daemon because the collective belief of humanity across Europe, North Africa and parts of Asia is that Iron wards against Daemons. As Daemons are influenced by human collective belief the act of the forcefield generator being iron helps.
That box is to keep the astropath alive, the drop pod descent kills a regular person. Then also protect him from combat and the actual chaos influence up until they reach their target.
16:28 Welp, here comes the nerd comment: Aspirants are usually picked from savage worlds for most Chapters, but Ultramarines will recruit just about anyone from the 500 Worlds. Actually if I remember correctly, every young male is tested for geneseed compatibility on Maccrage and if they are compatible, they are sent to a training camp of sort and if they survive & prove themselves, they'll become Neophytes. After which they have to survive the organ implants and more trials, then survive being a Scout Marine for a while then they are promoted, given their full set of armor & some chapter weapons and then they become Battle Brothers (Space Marines). Some Chapters will recruit only from pre-industrial worlds, where the civilization are barbaric and they'll only pick the most savage youths. And some worlds have dedicated recruiting worlds. But, step 1 is always: Are they geneseed compatible
@8:30 Bladeguards have an Iron Halo on their powerpacks. Which generates an energy field to better protect them. The three that are with Titus are, Bladeguard Veterans - Sergeant Metaurus, Icaron, and Levantus. Bladeguard Veterans, are melee-focused Astartes who have earned the right to serve in the elite 1st Company of their chapter. For a Space Marine to even be considered to serve in the 1st Company of their chapter, they would have been raised during the Ultima Founding or later. Meaning they have fought for centuries ... While Titus does qualify to be "selected" into the 1st Company, I think it's due to him being "missing", and assumed dead, for over two-centuries Backstory: - After he was accused by Leandros, Titus endured roughly 100 years of interrogations and torture, being psychically scourged and subjected to brutal mindtrawls by Inquisitor Thrax. - Once Titus was "released" from Inquisitor Thrax, Titus did not return to his Ultramarines chapter. But instead, he spent the next 100 years in a "Self-Imposed Penance", and joined up with a unique Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes comprised solely of Veteran Space Marines that serves the "Ordo Xenos" of the Imperial Inquisition, as its "Chamber Militant": The DeathWatch Since these Bladeguard Veterans are Ultramarines, it's likely that these Marines are "Firstborn" Marines (like Titus) before they underwent the Rubicon Primaris. I wouldn't be surprised that they were all either a bit older, or a bit younger than Titus (whom is approximately around 400 years old).
@11:01 Sergeant Metaurus was the one who discovered and chose a young, but angry Demetrian Titus Nullus, to become an Aspirant for the Ultramarines. - Titus was born on the Ultramar Agri World - Tarentus, eighty years before the Battle of Macragge (the battle was in year of 745, of the 41st Millennia). Metaurus "feared" Titus would become a corrupted Space Marine, betraying him and the Ultramarine chapter. - This is in line with how Icaron, and Levantus died - they all "feared", or doubted something in their long lives, and the Chaos Sorcerer used that "fear" to k*ll the Space Marines. - We watched one of Bladeguard Veterans "fearing" their weakness (or had doubts about their strength), visualized as a small, frail and unarmored Space Marine... When the Veteran "crushed" his weak-self, he unwittingly/unknowingly k*lled himself ---- My interpretations are based on the assumptions of: - While Metaurus "should be" aware of Titus' exploits fighting and winning against Chaos and their Chaos-Lords/Daemons... I don't think Metaurus is fully aware of the reasons for Titus' 200-year absence, nor is he fully aware of Titus' Redemption (shown in Space Marine 2). I think it's safe to assume that Metaurus held some suspicion and doubt against Titus - and thusly, reacted-internally, in a similar manner Sergeant Gadriel and Chairon did, in Space Marine 2. - I haven't found any Warhammer sources/lore that explain why a young Titus was dragging a Space Marine's Knife, covered in blood... but I think it's to represent how Titus "was", as an Space Marine Aspirant. Even when he was just a "Child-Aspirant", Titus was/is: Naturally Skilled, A Gifted Leader among His Peers, Supremely Strong-Willed, Completely Fearless, and Very-very Angry... Titus is no longer as angry, or as stubborn, as he once was. There could be many reasons why he's now more reserved and more stoic. But, even though Titus' willpower is unyielding... I think, him being tortured for 100 years, then wishing for death, joining a literal "su*cide-squad" (eg: Deathwatch) for another 100 years changed him
1:15 - "Who shall know no fear?" "...And They Shall Know No Fear" is a quote from the God-Emperor Himself talking about the upcoming project of creating Space Marines. Here is the full quote: "They shall be my finest warriors, these men who give themselves to me. Like clay I shall mould them and in the furnace of war forge them. I was introduced to the Warhammer lore by watching the original "Astartes" videos by "Syama Pedersen". 9:30 - "this is giving Astartes…" Yeaup, he works for Warhammer TV these days and more specifically was a key part of this episode. His style is all over this and I love it!
3 of them are wear Iron Halos. Given only to Captains and Company Champions, they house a sort of personal force field called a Conversion Fields. Titus is wearing an Imperial Laurel, which was awarded by Calgar at the end of Space Marine 2. Quite a group to send in a suicide mission

That episode was *epic* . Really showcased their strength and speed in those fight scenes. We most definitely need either a Warhammer tv series or movie.
to add further to the awesomeness, i think this was animated or produced by the guy who made the Astartes short. it certainly feels like the short: marines arrive on a mission, dangers unknown, they kick ass with silent efficiency, but still have troubles when faced with a "big boss" or other unknown element by the end of the mission.

‘Hear me!’ Guilliman’s voice boomed through eternities. The sword blazed higher, until the fire of it threatened to burn out time. ‘I am Roboute Guilliman, last loyal son of the Emperor of Mankind. It is not your destiny to end today, God of Plague, but know that I am coming for you, and I will find you, and you will burn.’
He gripped the Sword of the Emperor two-handed and raised it high.

With that complete resistance to Chaos corruption then Titus would have for sure been up for being chosen as a Grey Knight. Only he's not a psyker.

Good luck with that. F*** Leandros.
It would have likely been an element of poetic justice to it too - something akin to "you think you know the rules of our chapter so well you will spend the rest of your life enforcing them."

Ooh I like this!
Awesome!
Titus is simple to explain. He is a man that does not need or want for anything other than doing his duty. He fears nothing because it does not matter. He will do his duty no matter what. Now, being resistant to chaos means chaos has nothing to offer him. He would die before becoming corrupted and he does not fear death. None of the Four would have any hold on him.
the whole episode screams Syama and damn was it fantastic
Yep the thingies they have on top of their packs are iron halos
Titus is just built different, when his home world was attacked, before he met metaurus, the scene where he was dragging an astates knife, instead of fleeing he stood and fought then metaurus met him bathe in the blood of his enemies, so even before he became astartes he was already fearless. Titus is literally incorruptible as all corruption is surpased by his rage and courage.

Astropaths usually lose their eyesight in their path to become one so that's the biggest telltale sign.

"I need a whole show".
yeah, I bet that was the comment of many.
Also, BLUR studios never misses.
"What makes Titus so special?" He's a named Ultramarine 😂
The Astropath was chosen since all Sanctioned Pyskers who become Astropaths are Soulbound to the Emperor and why they are all blind; their eyes burn from their skulls when looking upon Him in the Warp (among other things). This transference of a piece of the Emperor's power to the Psyker makes them much more resistant to the corruption of Chaos...though, obviously they are mortal still and not immune entirely to the whispers of the Dark Gods.
Or sharp metal bits sticking through sternum...
A true fact now.
Titus has no fear.
Fear has Titus
It’s using their own fears against them, to kill them. Then there is Titus, where others fear him.
7:07 "What type of heresy is it that messes with your mind?" ....yes
The Iron Halo's serve a dual function; they are the standard-issue out-put module for personal forcefields, but they are also specifically anti-daemon because the collective belief of humanity across Europe, North Africa and parts of Asia is that Iron wards against Daemons. As Daemons are influenced by human collective belief the act of the forcefield generator being iron helps.
Regarding the service studs: It depends on the chapter. For the ultramarines, one gold service stud signifies 50 years of service.
"pocket psyker" Love it, we should have one just in case when going to new neighborhoods hahaha
That box is to keep the astropath alive, the drop pod descent kills a regular person. Then also protect him from combat and the actual chaos influence up until they reach their target.
A nice little detail is that Titus is the only one whose pupils don't dilate when the Tzeentch demon enters his mind.
16:28
Welp, here comes the nerd comment:
Aspirants are usually picked from savage worlds for most Chapters, but Ultramarines will recruit just about anyone from the 500 Worlds.

This is the continuation story after “Marneus Calgar” requested Titus to join secret mission, and crusade…
@8:30
Bladeguards have an Iron Halo on their powerpacks.
Meaning they have fought for centuries
... While Titus does qualify to be "selected" into the 1st Company, I think it's due to him being "missing", and assumed dead, for over two-centuries
Backstory:
- After he was accused by Leandros, Titus endured roughly 100 years of interrogations and torture, being psychically scourged and subjected to brutal mindtrawls by Inquisitor Thrax.
- Once Titus was "released" from Inquisitor Thrax, Titus did not return to his Ultramarines chapter. But instead, he spent the next 100 years in a "Self-Imposed Penance", and joined up with a unique Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes comprised solely of Veteran Space Marines that serves the "Ordo Xenos" of the Imperial Inquisition, as its "Chamber Militant": The DeathWatch
Since these Bladeguard Veterans are Ultramarines, it's likely that these Marines are "Firstborn" Marines (like Titus) before they underwent the Rubicon Primaris. I wouldn't be surprised that they were all either a bit older, or a bit younger than Titus (whom is approximately around 400 years old).
@11:01
Sergeant Metaurus was the one who discovered and chose a young, but angry Demetrian Titus Nullus, to become an Aspirant for the Ultramarines.
When the Veteran "crushed" his weak-self, he unwittingly/unknowingly k*lled himself
----
My interpretations are based on the assumptions of:
- While Metaurus "should be" aware of Titus' exploits fighting and winning against Chaos and their Chaos-Lords/Daemons...
I think, him being tortured for 100 years, then wishing for death, joining a literal "su*cide-squad" (eg: Deathwatch) for another 100 years changed him
1:15 - "Who shall know no fear?"
"...And They Shall Know No Fear" is a quote from the God-Emperor Himself talking about the upcoming project of creating Space Marines. Here is the full quote:
"They shall be my finest warriors, these men who give themselves to me. Like clay I shall mould them and in the furnace of war forge them. They will be of iron will and steely muscle. They will have tactics, strategies and machines such that no foe can best them in battle. They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my Space Marines and they shall know no fear." --The Emperor of Mankind.
