The perspective change there is to show warp fuckery, pardon my low gothic. Gravity is just being disturbed from all the chaos. The sorcerer was killing other marines by amplifying their fear, while Titus never knew fear thus, he resisted the warp mind attack.
@@AshewynThat's the wicked beauty of the warp; if you hurt the astral body (soul) or presence in the warp a being has in it it also harms the physical one, so there can be exploration of many artistic styles with that concept that can make very unique art A fun fact: the dark angels legion have a lot of archeotech from the dark age of technology given to them by the emperor to deal with the worst xenos or human civilizations threats during the Great crusade and one of those weapons is a type of bolter which fire a shell that when it hits say a group of chaos cultists it basically destroys both their physical and warp body, which causes even the Astartes that fired them, even with their superhuman minds to not be able to recall that there was a group of chaos cultists there before the fire

@@ThatOtherPerson1Grey knights are chosen from psykers and have different geneseed to all other chapters. No one from another chapter can be made a Grey Knight unfortunately. Grey knights are my main army, I know a bit about them. They don’t become primaris due to their geneseed coming from the emperor himself and not a primarch. Grey knights sole purpose is to fight chaos and nothing else, so they are specialists.

He's talking about the detailed laurels around Titus' helmet, which he got at the end of Space Marine 2 for playing a pivotal role in the destruction of the Chaos forces there, a very high honor. You however, seem to be talking about the Iron Halo, since Titus is the only member of the squad without one. According to the Lexicanum Wiki: "The Iron Halo is a revered part of the Armoury of the Chapters of the Adeptus Astartes and is also a common Astartes award for valour. [...] The Iron Halo appears to share the same basic technological mechanisms as the Space Marine Chaplain's Rosarius, as they both produce a protective force field effect using poorly-understood Conversion Field technology." So essentially it's a force field generator that is awarded for high valor and is commonly used by chapter masters, although it may also be awarded to veteran space marines. As to why Titus doesn't have one... I would assume it has something to do with the suspicion certain parties may have of him as a possible chaos element even with everything he's accomplished. This part here is just my conjecture, but we can see that the Ultramarines are clearly not against awarding him honors, but the Iron Halo would actively make Titus more resilient, therefore more of a threat. This may be the reason they haven't given him one, since the laurels are purely aesthetic.
I love how they don’t really acknowledge each other the whole time, and then at the very end you get that confirmation that he remembers him by calling him “Old Man” just like he did as a kid
That's lore accurate, unfortunately/fortunately most people get into Warhammer due to the spacemarine 2 release and all the cinematics in which majority has overflow of dialogs and interactions making spacemarines "relatable". They're not, they're very far from being "human" they don't make unnecessary movements as to not waste any energy, they don't speak when it's not necessary either. Everything they do has meaning and purpose in overwhelming majority of the cases
I love how well they GOT the movements and efficiency of Astartes combat, the fight against the heretics was just perfect. There wasn't a wasted movement, no hesitation showing, just brutal killing efficencey.
Yep and then them being basically powerless against the demon. To show how terrifying demons are. One of the dudes ran through a freaking tank and was helpless.
The chaos god tzeentch are typically represented as vulture. 3:25 Those cracked eggs represent the birth of his minions which also looks like vulture. This planet is infested with tzeentch worshipping chaos cultist and tzeentch daemon. 7:59, he is a sanctioned psyker.
I thought maybe the guy in the casket was a blank. If astartes needed a psyker, they'd bring a librarian. Also that guy seemed to project a bubble of protection around them which i thought was his null field.

In Darktide it's literally just called 'Dome shield' in rogue trader there are a couple missions where you perform a psychic ritual revolving around a psyker using a dome shield. So yeah, not a blank. A blank would've been extremely helpful but they are beyond rare and most who live to adulthood find themselves as Caluxis assassins or as part of an Inquisitor's retinue. I could be wrong but I don't think Blanks can really turn off null fields, I think they left the Librarian behind because that was essentially a suicide mission and Librarians aren't really expendable.
Now we know why Titus is resistant to chaos. An indomitable will and also having absolutely no fear. I see why he was chosen by the Chaplin for this assignment. Also RIP to the other space marines, knowing the mission mortality was absolute
As commander Dante once said (in the book "darkness in the blood" I believe), space marines do feel fear, they fear to fail in their duties mostly. But there are some battle brothers who genuinely do not know any fear, and it seems like Titus is one of them.

Titus is so filled with rage and pain he has no room for fear. Tzeentch has nothing to work with, and neither do Slaanesh or Nurgle. The big question is what's going to happen when Titus goes up against _Khorne._
@@iloveplayingpr with primarchs it would depend on which one quite honestly, they're not all magically chaos resistant. Fullgrim proved that quite well for everyone. As for a grey knight, not only would that time stop simply not work on them but entering their mind is impossible, deamon princes can't get through,greater deamons either, this thing would have a better chance at winning the lottery 25 times in a row🤣
Depends on the primarch, and it usually takes a Chaos god and plenty of time to indirectly break them. But they're certainly not immune if the Horus heresy is any indication.
The Primarch situation happens in one of the books: Lion El'Jonson, Lord of the First. Admittedly, it's a powerful xenos psyker, but the scene is pretty entertaining. "You have dived willingly into a primarch's mind, and for that hubris alone you deserve this failure."
Space marines do age and grey but it takes a Long Time - like Logan Grimnar, the wolves chapter master, whose shown as grey in 'modern' 40k but described as a coppery brunette at Armageddon, half a millenium before. Each marine was killed (or at least seriously wounded) by something they fear. In the case of Titus' mentor - the fear Titus would ultimately fall to chaos.

However, I refer you to a quote from the Horus Heresy: "It is said that the Legio Astartes 'Know No Fear'. The Night Lords proved that assertion... untrue."

@@Dave_of_Mordor Astartes do feel fear, it's just that they've been trained from adolescence to ignore it, to push past it and march forwards into the fray regardless of what they feel. Added to this the fact that they're a walking tank with all the knowledge they need on the many foes of the Imperium, and a century of obedience, faith, duty, discipline, and the tactics to work in any number of scenarios on their own or in squads. Ye, they don't feel fear often. Horus Aximand or 'Little Horus' as he was nicknamed during the Horus heresy summed it up best. The only thing Astartes really fear, is what they don't know, and they know an awful lot. Once they know what something is and what it can do, they stop fearing it, provided they even did in the first place.
"their systems are really advanced" See, the funny thing is that the Imperium of Man was established *after* Humanity went through a horrible and terrible Dark Age that destroyed and lost much of their tech they invented during their Golden Age. To put that into perspective, Terminator armor, which is the best available armor in the Imperium, is actually a pressurized deep-space mining suit from the Golden Age. The Leman Russ? A farming tractor. Knights? Repurposed logging mechs. You can bet your butt that Astartes armor is repurposed equipment from the civilian sector of the Terran Golden Age.
Right I always forget they can’t innovate anymore, I guess I don’t know how futuristic or dated their tech is compared to modern day. Space mining suit from the golden age is something lol
He is capable of becoming a Grey Knight. Give Titus his personal Aegis Force weapons and gear. For when Supreme Grandmaster Kaldor Draigo returns, he will have Titus fighting with him.
Titus was Relic Entertainment's OC they created for their Space Marine game, yes. The fact that we got Space Marine 2 with him as the protagonist at all is a miracle already, and him appearing again in Secret Level is amazing.
Two space marines games showed me that "Titus is special", chaos can not touch him, and before I was thinking: "Well ofcource he is special, I am playing as him". But this, this animated short just elevated the whole "Titus is special" thing to a different level for me😮
I think differently, as much as everyone by now sort of knows space marines, their stories are difficult to sustain for a full series (unless one goes for stuff like Horus Heresy), most likely the first series will be something like Heisenhorn? Something where you can have different aspects of 40k besides the big bukly fighting space marines. If I had complete white paper to do whatever I want, regardless of its success I myself would probably pick the Night Lords books, butthat would severly limit the audience.

Fun Facts for Context: As powerful and nasty as those guns are, those are not Bolt guns...those are Bolt Pistols. Bolters are normally 2 handed rifles....Each stud in their brow is for a century of service (but that can vary from chapter to chapter). The Bladeguard (the three marines excluding Titus) are 1st company so they are the elites and each one may have 3 or 4 centuries of service as well as multiple heroic deed.
4:22 yes bolters can do that to a person, they're .75 calibre or 19mm, explosive, gun launched rocket propelled grenades. For reference .50 calibre is 12.7mm. Explanation for the people with exposure and or knowledge of firearms or weapons in general; The bolt projectile is fired from the bolt gun or Boltgun (Astartes specific bolt gun type) are conventionally fired, then rocket assisted grenades. Breakdown -The firing pin strikes the primer, which contains a small explosive charge. -That activates the propellant charge, which forces it down the barrel. -The barrel is rifled, which means it has spiralling groves that are really gently twisted running down the inside of the barrel. This spins the bullet gently, stabilising it. -When the bullet or in the is case bullet shaped grenade has travelled a certain distance without the rocket muntion losing speed, dipping or curving due to range and climate conditions, the rocket motor engages. That givies it extended range and helping the round maintain velocity over that greater range. -The kinetic impact is maintained via this rocket which gives the ammuntions armour piercing capabilities. Velocity and density of the projectile is how you defeat armour via penertation. You could shoot a projectile that was more dense than the armour material at a lower velocity and defeat thinner or lower level or grade armour (made from less dense or less impact resistant mateiral which are expensive). However if the armour thick enough, made from dense or expensive impact resistant material, or all of those, you need density and velocity.
Space Marine boots can maglock to the floor at a thought from the wearer, hence why they slid a ways down the wall before clamping to the side and with ease walking down the shear face of the cliff. Also with the implantation of geneseed no 10, the Occulobe, it allows the marine to see far easier in environments where a human would be blind from darkness or shear brightness, and it'll automatically shrink or close off a marine's vision to protect his eyesight from intense flashes that would otherwise permanently blind someone, like a nuclear explosion. Added to this, the marine's helmet machine spirit is always working to feed him information, and will see things he may have missed.
They don't maglock and walk down the sheer side of the cliff - the cliffside that they're sliding down turns into flat ground because of the Tzeentch warp effect stuff.
Metaurus, the old man, is 400+ years old, Titus 200+....and there are many even older marines. Dont get me started on Dreadnaughts. Taus, after killing a Dreadnaught and realizing it was older than their entire civilisation, had an existential crisis lol
Really a bolt gun fires a, I think 20mm explosive round? It's .75 cal and cal is just inches. Regardless, it's a rocket the size of a shotgun slug exploding inside someone so it's overkill vs humans. Titus was created just for the Space Marine games, but GW is very profit minded so characters and chapters for popular projects tend to get rolled into the main canon. So I wouldn't be surprised if we see more of Titus but also they have a long list of characters they only bring out when the faction they belong to is populars so I can also see him disappearing. Still the Ultramarines are the poster boys of 40k so you'll probably see more of him. Ironically enough though Space Marines sometimes die like dogs. I mean they are stupidly tough but not invincible and they can get overwhelmed. Also, there are better forces honestly to deal with daemonic threats like the Grey Knights or Sisters of Battle. Makes the accomplishments so much better where there is a threat of death like that.
ya the Sergeant's only fear was Titus, the child he chose, falling into chaos but then he was immediately reassured that Titus is not one to fall to chaos easily or at all.
Yes, Titus is a new character created for the Space Marine game series. He's only appeared in SM 1 & 2, and now Secret Level. Given his popularity, though, I'm sure we'll start to see him cropping up in other stories soon. I'd love a novel about a Deathwatch mission he was involved in, for example.
@s4bc sorta true- the other chaos-gods do not refer to any other entity as "the anathema". But the Legion of the Damned are very much Daemons of the Emperor, so the overlap is significant.
The Sorcerer was exploiting their fears. The first Astartes fears being weak, without his armor and so it shows him outside it, skinny and frail before crushing his skull. The Sergeant fears that the child he chose will betray him, so it shows Titus stabbing him. But Titus has no fear. He has no fear of death, so he broke the Sorcerer's scepter and killed him. But I also believe that the Emperor is doing something to protect him.
Well its interesting to see how this episode supports the idea thats already been confirmed in SM2 of why titus isnt affected by chaos the way others are. He is just a perfect spacemarine. The embodiment of what it means to be a space marine. Pure unwavering faith in the emperor and his brothers. No room for doubt. Just pure belief that the mission will get done no matter what. Im not into 40K lore entirely but im almost tempted to say that Titus is more then likely the exact idea of what the emperor had in mind for a perfect space marine.
Lot of gray in his beard? Not that bad, the man is in his 5th century of service. (The little metal nodules on the brow... 1 for every 100 years of spacemarineing)

when they said this show picks up right after the end of SM2 I guess the mission Titus was recommended to be put on by the chaplain was this as he has shown that he is very resistant to chaos
Ill give you advice about 40k if you start to like it. First, it is enormous world, so how to navigate it? 1st learn overall timeline ( watch Brickys channel because its great for beginners ). 2nd pick a faction and learn a little bit closer their timeline and some important characters from that faction and than pick next faction ( you wont be disappointed no mater what faction you try ). 3rd now you can start deep dives in to characters with channels like Amber King, Sandman of Terra, Arch, Luetin09 and I cant name them all but you will be blown away with each character lore dive because its so unique and how their interaction is consistent. Dont know what else to say, enjoy next several years

The Tzeentch sorcerer offed the other marines using their own fear. Metaurus was afraid of Titus turning on him which is why he got injured but I assume he was lucky that the power got exhausted on the first two and it didn't completely mulch him.
@anitaremenarova6662.......is it possible the demon sorcerer only wounded metaurus so he could be captured and interrogated later? Chaos knows who Titus is. Did the demon see that this was the Marine that found and recruited titus? If true it poses interesting questions.

This is not the only no Just the only from this group But for exemple grey knight are build litterally to fight deamons they resist very well and much more chaos than regular space marine + they got psychic powers
What happened during their descent into the lair of chaos is quite literally chaos fuckery messing with the laws of physics like a M.C. Escher's "Relativity" painting.
Space marines can indeed see in the dark. Their suits provide them with the ability to see in even more spectra. Edit. Space marines in the crusade era did not age physically either. Sigismund for example only started showing physical aging after about 2 *thousand* years of constant war. But over the last 10 millenia the "formula" to make space marines has significantly degraded.
My not perfect head cannon explanation for the gore/blue blood- When the demons are closer to 'the warp' their physiology takes on property's of what that would be vs spawning into 'reality' where their bodies would have to work within the physics of our plain making in more red/real blood. Personally Im sure it was just a creative choice.
I recommend you read the Horus heresy books, it’s a prequel series to the 41st millennium books literally 10 thousand years before it, their very brutal and descriptive of the gory scenes and battles, theirs also lots of marines from the traitors legions that remained loyal after finding out their primarch and legion turned on the emperor, also yes the bolt guns can do that much damage the rounds are explosive
I kind of wonder why they did not bring one. Judging from those 3 veterans they are most likely from the first company. Don't the first company have librarians readily available? Or is was deemed enough to only have one sanctioned psyker .
@@Get-mad-over-9000as we know at this particular moment the chief librarian of the first company is occupied in Regimus with remnants of the splinter fleet and shadow of the warp. Contrary to the idea people have a single company doesn't really have many librarians, to be precise they only have one as the rest are Epistolaries ,Lexicanums and so on. This was a suicide mission from the start which was confirmed on screen, sending a librarian there wouldn't be smart. Lastly I don't know where people get the idea that librarian's are almighty😂 not everyone is mephiston... Sanctioned psyker can be easily more powerful than a librarian.
@@Ashewyn Apothecaries (specialist Space Marine combat medics) will collect the gene seed of slain marines. This would be far more important a function for other chapters in comparison to the Ultramarines as their Primarch is actually still alive and present in the setting.
@@Ashewyn majority of the chapters(founding chapters especially) have a full stock of gene seed either on their main battle barge or on their home world, that is to prevent annihilation of their chapter in case of a disaster happening during a mission. Usually when the mission is a clear suicide the gene seed is taken before specific members taking part in the mission depart. As for your question, usually gene seed on a "normal" battlefield would be taken by an equivalent of a medic called apothecary, you probably saw them at some point, they look exactly the same as other space marines but have metal arms sticking out from their shoulders

They are captains or chapter ancients....the amount of chapter relics with weapons lost alone in that orbital bombardment is heresy of the highest level the power axe looked HH era because thats when ultramarines used those double headed axes more
Also did anyone else find it odd that Titus didn't retrieve his fallen brothers' geneseed? I assume he did but just off camera but the cuts they used visually makes it look like there wasn't even the opportunity to do so
Here we go again... Firstly, retrieving gene seed requires a special gun or a biolaser, veterans don't have that in their standard equipment. Secondly which part of "mortality rate-absolute" was not clear? They had an entire procession before getting dropped because the entire chapter knew they're not returning so their gene seed was already collected beforehand

As a comparison, that's the kind of ammo used for anti-aircraft purpose before the era of rockets.

That's lore accurate, unfortunately/fortunately most people get into Warhammer due to the spacemarine 2 release and all the cinematics in which majority has overflow of dialogs and interactions making spacemarines "relatable". They're not, they're very far from being "human" they don't make unnecessary movements as to not waste any energy, they don't speak when it's not necessary either. Everything they do has meaning and purpose in overwhelming majority of the cases

I love how well they GOT the movements and efficiency of Astartes combat, the fight against the heretics was just perfect. There wasn't a wasted movement, no hesitation showing, just brutal killing efficencey.

The chaos god tzeentch are typically represented as vulture. 3:25 Those cracked eggs represent the birth of his minions which also looks like vulture. This planet is infested with tzeentch worshipping chaos cultist and tzeentch daemon. 7:59, he is a sanctioned psyker.
I thought maybe the guy in the casket was a blank. If astartes needed a psyker, they'd bring a librarian. Also that guy seemed to project a bubble of protection around them which i thought was his null field.
@@xxchaos315xx6 The bubble shield is a psyker ability. In Darktide it's literally just called 'Dome shield' in rogue trader there are a couple missions where you perform a psychic ritual revolving around a psyker using a dome shield.
So yeah, not a blank. A blank would've been extremely helpful but they are beyond rare and most who live to adulthood find themselves as Caluxis assassins or as part of an Inquisitor's retinue.
I could be wrong but I don't think Blanks can really turn off null fields, I think they left the Librarian behind because that was essentially a suicide mission and Librarians aren't really expendable.

As commander Dante once said (in the book "darkness in the blood" I believe), space marines do feel fear, they fear to fail in their duties mostly. But there are some battle brothers who genuinely do not know any fear, and it seems like Titus is one of them.

Titus is so filled with rage and pain he has no room for fear. Tzeentch has nothing to work with, and neither do Slaanesh or Nurgle. The big question is what's going to happen when Titus goes up against _Khorne._

As for a grey knight, not only would that time stop simply not work on them but entering their mind is impossible, deamon princes can't get through,greater deamons either, this thing would have a better chance at winning the lottery 25 times in a row🤣

Depends on the primarch, and it usually takes a Chaos god and plenty of time to indirectly break them. But they're certainly not immune if the Horus heresy is any indication.
The Primarch situation happens in one of the books: Lion El'Jonson, Lord of the First. Admittedly, it's a powerful xenos psyker, but the scene is pretty entertaining. "You have dived willingly into a primarch's mind, and for that hubris alone you deserve this failure."
Space marines do age and grey but it takes a Long Time - like Logan Grimnar, the wolves chapter master, whose shown as grey in 'modern' 40k but described as a coppery brunette at Armageddon, half a millenium before.
Each marine was killed (or at least seriously wounded) by something they fear. In the case of Titus' mentor - the fear Titus would ultimately fall to chaos.

@@Dave_of_Mordor Astartes do feel fear, it's just that they've been trained from adolescence to ignore it, to push past it and march forwards into the fray regardless of what they feel. Added to this the fact that they're a walking tank with all the knowledge they need on the many foes of the Imperium, and a century of obedience, faith, duty, discipline, and the tactics to work in any number of scenarios on their own or in squads. Ye, they don't feel fear often.
Horus Aximand or 'Little Horus' as he was nicknamed during the Horus heresy summed it up best. The only thing Astartes really fear, is what they don't know, and they know an awful lot. Once they know what something is and what it can do, they stop fearing it, provided they even did in the first place.

See, the funny thing is that the Imperium of Man was established *after* Humanity went through a horrible and terrible Dark Age that destroyed and lost much of their tech they invented during their Golden Age.
To put that into perspective, Terminator armor, which is the best available armor in the Imperium, is actually a pressurized deep-space mining suit from the Golden Age.
The Leman Russ? A farming tractor.
Knights? Repurposed logging mechs.
You can bet your butt that Astartes armor is repurposed equipment from the civilian sector of the Terran Golden Age.

Titus was Relic Entertainment's OC they created for their Space Marine game, yes. The fact that we got Space Marine 2 with him as the protagonist at all is a miracle already, and him appearing again in Secret Level is amazing.
Two space marines games showed me that "Titus is special", chaos can not touch him, and before I was thinking: "Well ofcource he is special, I am playing as him". But this, this animated short just elevated the whole "Titus is special" thing to a different level for me😮
I have a feeling that Titus might become one of the main characters in Henry Cavill's 40K series.
I think differently, as much as everyone by now sort of knows space marines, their stories are difficult to sustain for a full series (unless one goes for stuff like Horus Heresy), most likely the first series will be something like Heisenhorn?
Something where you can have different aspects of 40k besides the big bukly fighting space marines.
If I had complete white paper to do whatever I want, regardless of its success I myself would probably pick the Night Lords books, butthat would severly limit the audience.

The halo you spoke about on their backs is what is known as an "Iron halo" it's a protective field that surrounds the wearer.
Fun Facts for Context: As powerful and nasty as those guns are, those are not Bolt guns...those are Bolt Pistols. Bolters are normally 2 handed rifles....Each stud in their brow is for a century of service (but that can vary from chapter to chapter). The Bladeguard (the three marines excluding Titus) are 1st company so they are the elites and each one may have 3 or 4 centuries of service as well as multiple heroic deed.
4:22 yes bolters can do that to a person, they're .75 calibre or 19mm, explosive, gun launched rocket propelled grenades. For reference .50 calibre is 12.7mm.
Explanation for the people with exposure and or knowledge of firearms or weapons in general;
The bolt projectile is fired from the bolt gun or Boltgun (Astartes specific bolt gun type) are conventionally fired, then rocket assisted grenades.
Breakdown
-The firing pin strikes the primer, which contains a small explosive charge.
-That activates the propellant charge, which forces it down the barrel.
-The barrel is rifled, which means it has spiralling groves that are really gently twisted running down the inside of the barrel. This spins the bullet gently, stabilising it.
-When the bullet or in the is case bullet shaped grenade has travelled a certain distance without the rocket muntion losing speed, dipping or curving due to range and climate conditions, the rocket motor engages. That givies it extended range and helping the round maintain velocity over that greater range.
-The kinetic impact is maintained via this rocket which gives the ammuntions armour piercing capabilities. Velocity and density of the projectile is how you defeat armour via penertation.
You could shoot a projectile that was more dense than the armour material at a lower velocity and defeat thinner or lower level or grade armour (made from less dense or less impact resistant mateiral which are expensive). However if the armour thick enough, made from dense or expensive impact resistant material, or all of those, you need density and velocity.
Don't forget the round explodes *inside* the target, maximizing its destructive potential
4:29 - Boltguns are basically gyrojet rifles with little armor piercing rockets which explode after impact inside the target.
Space marines can see clear as day in the dark so your assumption its right

Space Marine boots can maglock to the floor at a thought from the wearer, hence why they slid a ways down the wall before clamping to the side and with ease walking down the shear face of the cliff. Also with the implantation of geneseed no 10, the Occulobe, it allows the marine to see far easier in environments where a human would be blind from darkness or shear brightness, and it'll automatically shrink or close off a marine's vision to protect his eyesight from intense flashes that would otherwise permanently blind someone, like a nuclear explosion. Added to this, the marine's helmet machine spirit is always working to feed him information, and will see things he may have missed.
They don't maglock and walk down the sheer side of the cliff - the cliffside that they're sliding down turns into flat ground because of the Tzeentch warp effect stuff.
I can see them setting Titus up to be sainted, a Dante level character.
Metaurus, the old man, is 400+ years old, Titus 200+....and there are many even older marines. Dont get me started on Dreadnaughts. Taus, after killing a Dreadnaught and realizing it was older than their entire civilisation, had an existential crisis lol
Really a bolt gun fires a, I think 20mm explosive round? It's .75 cal and cal is just inches. Regardless, it's a rocket the size of a shotgun slug exploding inside someone so it's overkill vs humans.
Titus was created just for the Space Marine games, but GW is very profit minded so characters and chapters for popular projects tend to get rolled into the main canon. So I wouldn't be surprised if we see more of Titus but also they have a long list of characters they only bring out when the faction they belong to is populars so I can also see him disappearing. Still the Ultramarines are the poster boys of 40k so you'll probably see more of him.
Ironically enough though Space Marines sometimes die like dogs. I mean they are stupidly tough but not invincible and they can get overwhelmed. Also, there are better forces honestly to deal with daemonic threats like the Grey Knights or Sisters of Battle. Makes the accomplishments so much better where there is a threat of death like that.
One space marine is like the equivalent of 50 men. So in total there are 200 men in that group of four.
Anyone notice how Titus’ armor changes into that of a chaos space marine with the spikes and skull? Freaking awesome
ya the Sergeant's only fear was Titus, the child he chose, falling into chaos but then he was immediately reassured that Titus is not one to fall to chaos easily or at all.
Yes, Titus is a new character created for the Space Marine game series. He's only appeared in SM 1 & 2, and now Secret Level. Given his popularity, though, I'm sure we'll start to see him cropping up in other stories soon. I'd love a novel about a Deathwatch mission he was involved in, for example.

That is impossible. A Chaos God means he would be part of the Chaos pantheon and part of the ruinious powers.
@s4bc sorta true- the other chaos-gods do not refer to any other entity as "the anathema".
But the Legion of the Damned are very much Daemons of the Emperor, so the overlap is significant.
A really cool detail that's easily missed is the purity seals burning up when they enter an area of high Chaos presence.
It was brutal, it was without compromise, it was 40k, it was glorious!
Understandable Fear..Titus Falling to Chaos would be an absolute Threat.
So you have just scratched the surface of 40k.
The Sorcerer was exploiting their fears. The first Astartes fears being weak, without his armor and so it shows him outside it, skinny and frail before crushing his skull. The Sergeant fears that the child he chose will betray him, so it shows Titus stabbing him. But Titus has no fear. He has no fear of death, so he broke the Sorcerer's scepter and killed him. But I also believe that the Emperor is doing something to protect him.
Well its interesting to see how this episode supports the idea thats already been confirmed in SM2 of why titus isnt affected by chaos the way others are. He is just a perfect spacemarine. The embodiment of what it means to be a space marine. Pure unwavering faith in the emperor and his brothers. No room for doubt. Just pure belief that the mission will get done no matter what. Im not into 40K lore entirely but im almost tempted to say that Titus is more then likely the exact idea of what the emperor had in mind for a perfect space marine.

Ill give you advice about 40k if you start to like it. First, it is enormous world, so how to navigate it? 1st learn overall timeline ( watch Brickys channel because its great for beginners ). 2nd pick a faction and learn a little bit closer their timeline and some important characters from that faction and than pick next faction ( you wont be disappointed no mater what faction you try ). 3rd now you can start deep dives in to characters with channels like Amber King, Sandman of Terra, Arch, Luetin09 and I cant name them all but you will be blown away with each character lore dive because its so unique and how their interaction is consistent. Dont know what else to say, enjoy next several years

The Tzeentch sorcerer offed the other marines using their own fear. Metaurus was afraid of Titus turning on him which is why he got injured but I assume he was lucky that the power got exhausted on the first two and it didn't completely mulch him.
@anitaremenarova6662.......is it possible the demon sorcerer only wounded metaurus so he could be captured and interrogated later? Chaos knows who Titus is. Did the demon see that this was the Marine that found and recruited titus? If true it poses interesting questions.

Space marines can indeed see in the dark. Their suits provide them with the ability to see in even more spectra.
Edit. Space marines in the crusade era did not age physically either. Sigismund for example only started showing physical aging after about 2 *thousand* years of constant war. But over the last 10 millenia the "formula" to make space marines has significantly degraded.
The art direction just screams Astartes. I bet that guy was involved in this somehow.

My not perfect head cannon explanation for the gore/blue blood- When the demons are closer to 'the warp' their physiology takes on property's of what that would be vs spawning into 'reality' where their bodies would have to work within the physics of our plain making in more red/real blood. Personally Im sure it was just a creative choice.
I recommend you read the Horus heresy books, it’s a prequel series to the 41st millennium books literally 10 thousand years before it, their very brutal and descriptive of the gory scenes and battles, theirs also lots of marines from the traitors legions that remained loyal after finding out their primarch and legion turned on the emperor, also yes the bolt guns can do that much damage the rounds are explosive

I kind of wonder why they did not bring one. Judging from those 3 veterans they are most likely from the first company. Don't the first company have librarians readily available? Or is was deemed enough to only have one sanctioned psyker .
@@Get-mad-over-9000as we know at this particular moment the chief librarian of the first company is occupied in Regimus with remnants of the splinter fleet and shadow of the warp. Contrary to the idea people have a single company doesn't really have many librarians, to be precise they only have one as the rest are Epistolaries ,Lexicanums and so on. This was a suicide mission from the start which was confirmed on screen, sending a librarian there wouldn't be smart. Lastly I don't know where people get the idea that librarian's are almighty😂 not everyone is mephiston... Sanctioned psyker can be easily more powerful than a librarian.
Does a librarian collect gene seed? I think that case it was because it was a suicide mission right?
@@Ashewyn Apothecaries (specialist Space Marine combat medics) will collect the gene seed of slain marines. This would be far more important a function for other chapters in comparison to the Ultramarines as their Primarch is actually still alive and present in the setting.
@@Ashewyn majority of the chapters(founding chapters especially) have a full stock of gene seed either on their main battle barge or on their home world, that is to prevent annihilation of their chapter in case of a disaster happening during a mission. Usually when the mission is a clear suicide the gene seed is taken before specific members taking part in the mission depart. As for your question, usually gene seed on a "normal" battlefield would be taken by an equivalent of a medic called apothecary, you probably saw them at some point, they look exactly the same as other space marines but have metal arms sticking out from their shoulders

They are captains or chapter ancients....the amount of chapter relics with weapons lost alone in that orbital bombardment is heresy of the highest level the power axe looked HH era because thats when ultramarines used those double headed axes more

Here we go again... Firstly, retrieving gene seed requires a special gun or a biolaser, veterans don't have that in their standard equipment. Secondly which part of "mortality rate-absolute" was not clear? They had an entire procession before getting dropped because the entire chapter knew they're not returning so their gene seed was already collected beforehand
