But they maintained a Rock edge throughout. And a great melody will always easily be adaptable. It's why much of their music can be 'rocked up' as well as be adapted to Classical tastes. It also helps that there was always a dark melancholy bubbling under the surface of even some of their upbeat numbers. Check out some of the 'Swedish Hitz Goes Metal' videos for more ABBA covers. 'Money, Money, Money' by Reinxeed is really good. 'I'm a Marionette' by Ghost (the original was creepy enough), 'Summer Night City' by Therion. Old Thin Lizzy, Motorhead, Led Zep, Undertones fan myself.

Therion - Summer Night City is my favorite metal ABBA cover. The band Ghost is heavily influenced by ABBA and it adds an pop element to their 80s hard rock and heavy metal. Their latest album is even recorded in ABBA's old studio and uses ABBA instruments in some tunes. Very well written stuff, very popular nowadays.
It was fom the metal and rock age, Benny and Bjorn were definetely influenced by the early rock, listen to eagle and see if you cant hear a screaming facemelting metal version in there :D
AQ40V I've been a metalhead for most of my life (listening to a wide range of genres like death metal, thrash, melodeath, Viking, power, heavy, symphonic black, prog, etc.), and I love ABBA! It might be in part also due to the fact I grew up with this band. My dad also loves them, but he also loves classic rock too, so there you go! haha

Abba and Lady Gaga songs seem to always translate well into metal covers. Their music is deceptively complex for pop and metal heads seem to recognize it and enjoy reworking all the components into face melting awesomeness.

Also, dont forget Eagle to be a perfect song for a prog rock cover. It is almost Rush/Floyd like in its atmosphere.
