  • Similar to quad sets, this exercise is vital in learning how to contract your quadriceps - especially the rectus femoris muscle which extends your knee and flexes your hip! This is a crucial exercise early on following a knee surgery.

    I'm doing this exercise for PT for a medial meniscus tear and repair. I know it also strengthens the hip flexor which I also need but my hip flexor takes over and fatigues really bad through the second set. Any suggestions?

    I’ve had a hip replacement 7 weeks ago (35yrs, OA with congenital issues) and am doing this to strengthen my flexors which were pretty non existent before, I’m definitely improving but how would I make it harder? also I need to increase my range of motion which is currently at 80-90 degrees, I’m allowed to do more but my muscles and brain is stopping me. Is there anything you could suggest?

    Will this strengthen the tendon at all? Because quad weakness is not the cause of my injury. It's just tendon over-use.

      Great question! Here is an article we have dedicated to the topic of tendon injuries:

    The squeeze part makes the bottom of my left knee cap mildly painful, and the quad muscles differences between my right and left legs are getting bigger. What can I do?

      im not a PT but i imagine pain is always a bad thing i would prob do as much it doesnt cause pain and lift. i think hes just doing it to get max efficiency from this exercise

    • @ju_p9011
      @ju_p9011 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      what i meant -> max efficiency = max contraction in quad

    How high do you lift it?
    I can really feel my hamstrings screaming once I get a certain height

    • @ThePrehabGuys
      @ThePrehabGuys  ปีที่แล้ว

      We recommend going to the height of the knee of the leg that is bent! That will minimize the stretch you are feeling through your hamstring!

    so the added leg raise is only working the rectus femoris tho right? thanks man!
