Great video . We have the delta 2 max with the alternator charger and it is amazing. We tend to just plug the van into the EcoFlow using a short cable out of the window to the power socket.
@@Stescaff thank you. Yes, it is a game changer and gives you much more flexibility. Trying to figure out a way of it powering the van without having the cable plugged in to the EHU point.
For absolute maximum efficiency you should really attach the positive to the nearest connection point to the alternator - in your van, this is the one where the power comes into the battery (with the 12mm nut on it) next to the brown 100A fuse.
Really need to look at the draw on the alternator and van electrics huge potential of burning out the van alternator and flattenning the start batterry will be interested tonsee how you get on
The Ecoflow constantly reads and auto regulates the extra excess power drawn from the main engine alternator, so there is no need to worry about overtaxing the alternator or main battery. I leave mine set at 800W, even when charging the Delta & River while the vehicle is stationary with the engine just idling.
Hi, I'm going to use it with the Ecoflow Power Kit. Is the van a euro6? The alternator for these newer vans might cause issues because it only charges when voltage is low.
Thanks for posting the video. I'm thinking of getting one for my motorhome and wondered if you can wire it up to the leisure battery rather than the starter battery. I'd prefer to do this purely because access would be much easier.
@@pghoward yes you can. You have the choice between the van battery or leisure battery. I chose van as the leisure more or less take care of themselves and would have more use if I needed to reverse charge to the van battery should it drain for any reason. Hope that helps.
@@pixx.adventures Many thanks, that's great news as my Ecoflow is right next to the leisure battery under a bench seat so installing the charger next to them both should be simple. The only problem will be what to do with all the excess cable which won't be needed. I'm guessing coiling it up won't be ideal given the danger of overheating. Looking forward to Friday when it's due to arrive. 👍
Two reasons - capacity and flexibility. The Ecoflow has a 2kWh capacity and can output 240v at 2.4kWh. While the leisure battery is good for 12v and while you can use an inverter I find the Ecoflow as better option for higher power options.
I have had to coil mine up a bit which isn’t ideal but I have turned the charging wattage down to 500w in the app and doesn’t get too warm. Still charges plenty quick enough for us.
Thank you. I will be feeding the cables behind the wall panel and having the Delta unit under the double seat. Quite bit of room under there and ventilation.
Hello! What start voltage did you use? I did the quick setup and it started at 14v and I was getting the message it was too high for the engine. I lowered it to 13, still got it. Lowered it to 12.5v and it stopped. I was only pulling about 600 w at the most during my tests though. I have a peak Promaster, the same as your van just American. Thank you!
@@blasphemist normally around 12v and with it being a smart alternator it fluctuates the charge to the Delta unit at between 500-800w depending on where the alternator needs to put the charge.
Great video. What happens about draw on the alternator when the Battery to Battery charger is running at the same time? I’m looking to get one of these.
Thank you. From what I have deduced and don't quote me on this as I need to confirm it, but our vehicle alternator is a smart alternator. When testing, the vehicle battery and leisure batteries seem to take priority and the power to the EcoFlow is reduced until which time they are fully charged. Once they are at full capacity the EcoFlow then goes to max power charging. As I said, I am still testing it and haven't had the chance to test it fully as yet as the van as been in the garage, being serviced etc. May need to also clarify this with EcoFlow directly. Hope that helps.
@@pixx.adventures I think that would be the case. Ours is a smart alternator too. I also have the Delta 2 with a couple of flexible Ecoflow panels and when off grid I have the van plugged into the delta 2. Not overly efficient but it charges the van nicely without us having a drain on the leisure battery which is then fine for dull days. Need to find a way to go more direct to the leisure battery. Will also buy the spare Ecoflow battery too.
Good idea from echoflow I’ve got a Anker c1000 I I’ve ask Anker are they looking at something similar the Anker c1000 is one of the best for charging from zero to 100% 58 minutes
Plenty of options out there. Ultimately, after a lot of research. I opted for EcoFlow. Love their products and the alternator charged is amazing. Hope Anker introduce something similar and I am sure they will, if they haven't already. Thanks for the comment, Paul
Hi, are you looking at an update on the Ecoflow Alternator Charger? We have a Delta 2 + extra Battery to run our Motorhome, I've been messaging Ecorflow regarding charging both at the same time with the Alternator Charger but at the moment its not possible as the extra Battery plugs into the Alternator Charging Port on the Delta 2 so has to be disconnected which is a bit of a nause as I have both batteries tucked away under a seat. They've advised that they're working on a fix for this...

@@PierFrancescoSerena-xi5cg thank you. You can connect to either the van battery or the leisure battery. The reason I didn’t was because the leisure batteries are charger by solar and the van alternator. Could you show a better photo or description of the cable connections to the battery? HI thanks for the message. Starlink draws more power when you first turn it on as it finds the satellites. About 110-120w. Once it has settled it ranges from 33w to 50w on average so will last quite a while as the Delta 2 is a 1024Kwh. How old is your FIAT DUCATO?
