I think this car is going to be awesome. I know the Gopro mic is crap but really hope they tune the sound better. Funny though I watched a vid of a golf 7 R chasing an RS500 round a track and everyone was saying how wonderful it sounded yet it sounded much like this but with more of a high pitched fart sound between gear changes
Love how the GT350R Mustang gets all squirrely at the start but the Focus RS keeps on pulling straight and true. Putting the power down to the pavement is what it's all about. :)
Sound can be corrected when all the aftermarket brands release exhausts for it. Flowmaster, CGS, Borla, etc. will all probably make various exhaust systems for the #FocusRS. If the production doesn't sound the way you want, but the car has everything else you wished for - wait for your favorite exhaust brand to release an aftermarket. Get it re-tuned to dial in the new exhaust and lift any limiters Ford put on it, and it will definitely surpass your dream sound, and really have maximum #fordperformance If not - you're beating your competition, and it would add more insult to injury if it sounds like an electric hybrid!
I'm not going to state the obvious because everyone else has but does this semi-production version sound completely different compared to the prototype that Block was driving back on the track promo footage for "All-New Ford Focus RS on the Road?"
Bear in mind guys the guys was zoomed in on the car so hes probably a good 300-400 yards away from the car and a sound like that at 300-400 yards is not bad at all.

I think the Focus RS did a 60 seconds flat,thats really impressive , thats despite loosing some time in the drift Its almost as fast as the Alfa Romeo 4c, it seems RS is close to the A45 AMG as well Come on Ford we want a stripped down low weight 360+ HP Focus RS500 Also with the 2017 We will be seeing the new Ford C platform, please Ford,do try to release RS models as soon as the new Chassis debuts, no more RS models at end of life cycle of a chassis

We have plenty of Titaniums and ST's. Why don't you come in to look at those?" To which I reply, "Dude I already bought and ST, now I need the RS in addition."

Which honda? a K20Z3 sounds like an F1 car next to this buzz bomb. Hopefully Ford can go back to the drawing board with the intake exhaust note. Unless they are looking to make waves in the tractor market.
At least the sound is in sync...but I think you need to dump the resonator. It doesn't really sound very nice, and on ST's at least it seems common for it to start leaking. Which could be a very bad thing. Pretty sure genuine engine sound is more enjoyable for people interested in an RS, marketing people can drive diesel ST's or something.

Not to mention: It's a street car, if the shocks were extremely stiff, it would be terrible to drive daily. If you want stiff springs, that's what the aftermarket is for. Also, the RS has many different driving modes and active suspension.
Watched whole video, hoping to see a hill (ya know, for a HILLCLIMB), but didn't see one. Alas, there must not be much climb here. I agree very much with previous posters' opinions about sound. Who cares what it SOUNDS like if it doesn't PERFORM?!? No fart cans on my rides. No flashy BS either. But we're winning Solo II (or coming in close 2nd ;-) )

The reason I don't like it and it's the same with nearly all fast cars these days is that this genre of car was created by motorsport, by cars like the lotus cortina and escort rs's of the 70s, sunbeam lotus, sierra and escort cosworths, delta integrale etc. It's the motorsport pedigree that makes a fast car a legendary fast car. Who cares about a 12 year old mini cooper? People have been obsessed with the original ever since it was launched. Imprezas and evos owe their popularity entirely to rallying, what has this got in common with the touring car? The lights and the windscreen. And it looks just like a basic one with a chavvy bumper, it needs proper input from motorsport, ford needs to take inspiration from itself in years gone by. Give us a new rs not jus a fast focus and call it an rs.

I actually like the idea of Ford going Mitsubishi's way. The previous RS (MK2) had nothing with the WRC car either (WRC was based on MK2 before facelift) but it was still limited. After Evo 7 (XII) Mitsubishi made the EVOs mass produced. Why not Ford going their way? Yes, Focus ain't competing in the WRC anymore because of gay rules and idiotic safety measures, like if you get 300 bhp from 1.6L engine your car is safer ... But I blame the organization and not Ford for that (or Citroen or VW or whatever car maker you chose) So even if the today's cars cannot really wear the RS badge with the same meaning as the ones in the 70s, I see no problem at all for them to exist. All the cars that you mentioned (Sierras, Escorts, Deltas) had nothing to do with the rally counterparts too except the looks, but you still liked the Delta Evo 2 or the Sierra/Escort RS Cosworth. I think the biggest problem is, that Rally became too ... well, soft maybe. Modern cars are more technical, more controlled, true, but I know no rally fan (even such that were not born in the 80's) that doesn't prefer watching Group B let's say. It was a thrill that I will never forget. Cars are very tamed now. Yes better times and so on but ... something is missing. That crazy part. This is why I like it, when companies make decisions to make such a car and not just the sales pieces that actually make the money (like a 1.0 Ecowhatever Fiesta or a 1.0 Aygo or a 1.x Yaris etc ...). Actually Toyota shall make a new GT-Four Celica if you ask me. Same as Lancia gotta make a fast Delta again.
I will take power over sound any day!! This buzzy bee will embarrass many horribly built V8's on the road. Besides, the true throaty sound of this car just needs some stainless steel straight pipe.
Hearing this car in person revving hard. It does both very well. Sound from videos online doesn't do justice to the RS exhaust. Those pops are it makes are very loud.

Everyone's worried about the sound, I'm worried about how soft the suspension looks and how bonkers the car is when trying to hold a line.
Soft suspension? From the looks of it, the car has almost no body roll. Also, Ken Block is driving it bonkers purposefully.
yukikevo There's much more to suspension than body roll. Sure it's got a stiff chassis, but the springs and shocks are lookin pretty soft to me.
And a stiff chassis has less to do with body roll than it does the suspension setup. Mind you, suspension is much more than just springs and shocks.
Not to mention: It's a street car, if the shocks were extremely stiff, it would be terrible to drive daily. If you want stiff springs, that's what the aftermarket is for. Also, the RS has many different driving modes and active suspension.

All the cars that you mentioned (Sierras, Escorts, Deltas) had nothing to do with the rally counterparts too except the looks, but you still liked the Delta Evo 2 or the Sierra/Escort RS Cosworth.
I think the biggest problem is, that Rally became too ... well, soft maybe. Modern cars are more technical, more controlled, true, but I know no rally fan (even such that were not born in the 80's) that doesn't prefer watching Group B let's say. It was a thrill that I will never forget. Cars are very tamed now. Yes better times and so on but ... something is missing. That crazy part.
This is why I like it, when companies make decisions to make such a car and not just the sales pieces that actually make the money (like a 1.0 Ecowhatever Fiesta or a 1.0 Aygo or a 1.x Yaris etc ...).
Actually Toyota shall make a new GT-Four Celica if you ask me. Same as Lancia gotta make a fast Delta again.
Nice car but sound s ppppppish ford just bring back a proper engine . The yb cosworth 16v turbo sounds awesome still to this day !!!

It does both very well. Sound from videos online doesn't do justice to the RS exhaust.
Those pops are it makes are very loud.
