    What paper it is sandpaper and no you should not use that you should not scratch up the court or the receiver for the electrode you had it right with just the toothbrush. Soak it in gasoline or a little bit of engine degreaser and scrub! Some people use wire brushes if you do it better be a really soft bristle one your objective is to not scratch the core rod or the receiving finger scratches or imperfections on either surface will cause it to foul almost immediately! The carbon passes around the plugs hence the reason you are cleaning it! The scratchers will accumulate that carbon very fast! Not to mention those scratches will definitely affect your Gap! Just a little bit of information for you. My route no sandpaper no wire brush no scratches! It is carbon soak it in gasoline for about a hour scrub with toothbrush it should take all the carbon off if it doesn't a little engine Degreaser will with the same toothbrush. I recommend soaking for about an hour pull from gas spray with degreaser and scrub a toothbrush. When the plug is clean rinse it in your gasoline to remove any degreaser left on the plug. then check the gap and reinstall!

    I repair/restore old outboards..after De carbonating the combustion chamber and the first time firing the motor up it is almost guaranteed that the plug will get trashed quickly..i used to just replace them. Until I looked at my bucket of new dirty plugs...so..cleaning them is cost effective for me...i use carb or brake clean and air...but then I bought that cheap harbor freight blasting machine for the finishing touch...

    Anyone who has spent any time riding bikes, especially dirt bikes, has cleaned a few plugs. Especially on a 2 stroke. Miles from camp, off roading, no spare plug, and your bike craps out. You cleaned it and change it later. If you have a car with a V-8 plugs can run 5 or 6 bucks each. That's $40- $50 . So it could be worth cleaning them one time. Most people now days most people wouldn't know how to change a spark plug to save their life. The hive in a throw away world.

    I have a 15 years old pulsar 150cc. All of a sudden my bike did not start one day so I changed spark plug and it started. I was out of station for 2 weeks and after I got back I used the bike for around 20km and now again bike is not starting.
    What could be the issue? How does carbon gets into spark plug and could it has to do with engine oil.
    It's been a while since I changed and since I use my bike little and mechanic said it was good. Please advice.

      I have used it for more than 4 to 5 yrs and have still kept someware at home see It will just have an extra life than normal spark plug. If you are looking for that strong spark than you need the high power spark plug cable and strong stator plate to produce strong spark which is an additional cost and still you might not be able to a vast performance it may get your eingen heated a bit. Normal spark plug is best belive me👌.

    Bro Carbon Deposited on spark plug cause Starting problem ?

  • @waldikoral
    @waldikoral 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    2 minutes, 4 seconds of this video . The petrol is changing colour because it dissolved the copper slip from threads . In literally seconds after submerging it in petrol. As petrol is good to dissolve grease. But I never seen I could dissolve carbon. However flame does burn the carbon deposits off. But you have to be careful not to overheat them.

    This is totally unnecessary,i add lucas fuel treatment combined with lucas ethanol treatment,a generous amount..This is how i do it,when there is like less than a quart of gas left in the tank i start the engine and when it is hot i add a couple of ounces of that lucas stuff..This really works,no kidding..do it and when the gas runs out,fill it up with gas and run it for a mile or so and remove the spark plug and check it out...i have ngk spark plugs on 3 different bikes that i have used for 5 years..I remove them.occassionally and there is nothing to clean there..I regularly put my lucas treatment in the gas..Lucas fuel treatment for lubricity and to increase the octane and lucas ethanol treatment to neutralize the alcohol effect in the combustion.This ethanol contains a lot of water..Not good,even if its premium.it still has water in it,and leaves ashes in the form of carbon deposits

    When in a pinch in the middle of no where every trick, or hack is another tool in the tool box and is appreciated.
    However, when the spark plug reassembles a glow plug from a Diesel engine.
    The tune is to blame!
    Whether it's a internal, or external engine issue needs to be established.
    Assuming the engine has no major issues. Judging by the looks of your glow plug spark plug your tune is to rich.
    Carburetor jetting is to rich (fat)..
    Possibly a hotter plug might clean up the excessive carbon build up.. Perhaps, grabbing gears and passing queers might do the trick as well..
    However, nothing can be established without a new plug, or at very least one with zero deposits off of the electrode inside the plug by using a plug sand blaster..
    By not removing carbon deposits off the electrode will create excessive carbon build up, oil contamination, and a lazy shitty performance!
    Remember, Lean is Mean when making Horse Power just don't get greedy!!

  • @prostreetgsxr
    @prostreetgsxr ปีที่แล้ว

    Instead of cleaning an expensive spark plug, you need to figure out why your bike is running so rich. Having the bike at proper tune is a better way of making more power and better fuel economy.

    • @MOTOMENTOR
      @MOTOMENTOR  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First of all thank you so much for watching my video...see cleaning with salt and water is all nonsense even I have seen that video with millions of views that person is just miss guiding us. the reason why it's not recommended is because metel with salty water can easily catch rust its common sense and it's scientifically proven we shouldnt use water with salt to clean any metel part. please search it and see it on Google if u have any doubt. The other reference he gave is that it will increase conductivity by giving reference of earthing whivh we do at home to ground the electricity. See we are talking about bike the earthing is given directly on metel part of the bike and not on a actual earthcrust... I can give u more example to expose him and I was planning it to do then I just left it.. However i think I should make a video on this very soon.

    That plug is an
    NGK (4929) DPR8EA-9 Standard Spark Plug, $3.22 on Amazon. Lame idea, very fouled plug, and petrol doesn't clean too well.

    Uh... What the hell kinda fuel is that... Kinda looks like kerosene. That would explain the oiling of the plug.

    Go buy new plugs. Old dirty plugs are done. Do you & your engine a favor...
