I was at this show. Loved it, by the way. This was a nice little memory where Tim just played the song on the CP-70 due to the Mellotron malfunction. Interesting fact that brought me back to comment on this video: I collect many vintage pieces of music gear, including old keyboards, synthesizers, drum machines etc... I do not own a Mellotron like the one you see Tom “attempting” to play for Hamburg Song, but my synthesizer tech does. I was at his shop recently and sat down at the M400 and got into the normal “Mellotron conversation” where you acknowledge how cool it is, but how insanely volatile they have ALWAYS been… Where this Keane situation comes into play is when my tech mentioned how it is nearly impossible to get a Mellotron M400 working live in modern times due to how much they are affected by cell phones. I wish I could be more specific, and I will edit this the next time I talk to him, but that is precisely why the M400 in this video malfunctioned out of nowhere for Tom Chaplin on stage when it was probably working fine when it was tested during soundcheck. Just a tidbit of info that I found very interesting recently that also reminded me of this great show. I’m thrilled to hear that they will be coming back to the Ryman this year! If they want to give the Mellotron a second chance, it’s likely that we will all see the same outcome, though haha’ See you all there!
What interesting information. The show at the Ryman was really an amazing show, and at the end we had a chance to talk to them. Unfortunately I won't be at the next show at the Ryman, I'm from Brazil, but I hope you enjoy it a lot, and at the end wait for them and pass on the information about Mellotron.
Keane are one those groups who are brilliant when they involve the whole crowd their interaction is so legendary and incredibly respectful to their fans
Extraño a KEANE, ojalá algún día vuelvan a Chile .
This is priceless.. I love how they just jump right into the song despite a few hiccups in the beginning and that shows true professionalism in a band. I own and love everything Keane has done and I want to see them live again
Thanks for the wonderful shots of TIm...so beautiful! This was so funny and I have to say that I found his remarks about setting the place on fire a little heartbreaking...I was at the show in Nashville when the stupid transformer blew. They had to cut the show off early for fear of fire...I would have sat through the fire to finish that show!!! They are so awesome!
The piano on the intro sounds so sad... anywayGreat vid.. welldone.. Tim is so wonderfully captured.. n did Richard forget to drum? As the light was on and even Tom was starring at him at that moment hahaha
Same old Mellotron. They should have stuck with the CP60M. Perhaps the tapes are worn or feeling the pressure of their endless touring. It was working again for their last gig at Radio City Music Hall. Lovely one of a kind version without the organ though... unlikely to hear that again unless equipment plays up of course.
Though of course, knowing about the cheeky fake Rhodes Tim has been using more recently, the Mellotron could of course be another fake with modern keyboard inside the case but you can see Alan getting his hands stuck in there so more likely to be the real deal. Though if it keeps playing up I can foresee Tim having a fake one made up!
Apparently, not.But you can hear some stupid chicks, laughing, the cameraman,no, someone who was drunk, and made this video, and that's about all.Shame ! It's a beautiful song.I regret i clicked, but i did let a dislike. For all the stupid " fun" from the hall !

Beautiful version on the piano...but such a sad song
Tom looked up at Richard when his drum was supposed to start like he wondered if he died..
funny I was expecting him to play too

What happened to the organ? But Tom came back brilliantly, didn't he.
