    I really get feeling nostalgic when I see you in the gardens. Reminds me of my hippy days in the early 80s, growing and foraging fruit and vegetables. Great days...

      I often get flashbacks of tending my small veg plot at the back end of my parents garden. I've never lost the love of growing & eating my own produce.

    10:00 There's something special about running your hands through the compost you've created yourself. It's a garden geek thing that non-gardeners don't understand.

      Our compost is so precious to us. With our soil in such a sad state it's great to finally have enough (it just takes a lot of time to riddle it lol.)

      Hi Robert, I have some footage on the computer that needs editing.
      It's just that we're max'd out here. We no longer have anyone helping out cutting the goat food. At present we prep food from the farm in the mornings and go off farm 3 times a day to cut more. 70 goats is perhaps a few too many to cope with. I barely have time to water my veg lol.

      Cheers David. It's great now that Toon hardly buys any fresh vegetables these days.

    Nice video mate, I am impressed with your obvious skills and knowledge when growing those cracking veggies. I don't think people fully understand that growing anything in Thailand is not always easy due to the soil being too acidic and infertile.

    8:14 I had some Kaffir Limes growing years ago. I liked the fruit as much as the leaves.

      @TLFarm  ปีที่แล้ว

      We're still waiting for our first fruits from our Kaffir lime trees. Toon wants to use them to make curry paste with.

    Great video Leigh, can see how much you truly enjoy what you have created with toon, your very own piece of paradise. Have you ever considered a few pigs decent money for the piglets and a good supply of manure for your veg and fruits. As always best wishes and great success for Porpeang farm. YOU GO FOR IT FELLA.

      I mentioned to Toon about a few pigs several months back (mainly due to the silly price of pork these days.) Unfortunately our solar system can't handle a large freezer to fill with pork & goat meat. The other thing is the time & finances to set up for pigs & look after them properly. Our average days are not longer but are now more demanding than ever before. I'm not convinced either of us could cope with another livestock animal on the farm lol.

      @@TLFarm my family in Ireland keep pigs not expensive to keep basic enclosure, sell piglet at livestock markets.

      Unfortunately our usual main man is now working away in Bangkok. I've suggested to Toon to sweet-talk Lek into helping do some goat fodder cutting while you're here.
      We could really do with a good few days wetting a line & having a BBQ or two at the lake.

    5:15 I find it somewhat funny that many Westerners don't consider eating celery greens. The greens as good or better than the stems, and arguably provide more nutrition. Plus, if you take the leaves instead of the stem, you don't sacrifice the plant.

    • @TLFarm
      @TLFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly Brad. I only discovered recently just how incredibly good celery is for you. I know most veggies are good for us, but it's basically a Super Food. We pick them when young & eat the whole thing.
