It’s been a little labour of love for me this one, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed making this Tamiya Grasshopper Blockhead tribute a reality, very pleased with how it turned out, what do you think? Plus to tick all the boxes I loved running it on lytham green coastal path, perfect location and good weather to boot. I hope you enjoy it, take care and thanks 🙏

WOW, Andy, just WOW!!! Definitely the best grasshopper I've ever seen. Well done to you and your wife for the work on the body, it looks spectacular! And all the little mods to the chassis just make it stand out even more, the wheels are perfect, too. I might be going on a bit, but this is what Tamiya should be doing. The use of the red and white colour scheme is something like they should have done with the Hotshot, in my opinion. Good idea to run it on a soft surface though! Great video, fella, all the best and take care! :))
Thank you so much Mark , definitely credit to my wife for masking and trimming the body up for me,unsung hero. I was just saying to Keith at rc icons, each blockhead release should have its own unique colour Etc but at the same time it’s got to come from blockhead motors as well , fingers crossed their next release isn’t blue. Yeah I wanted to do something different with the wheels not just normal white hopper wheels. How ever I’d be tempted by some alloy ones if I found some at a reasonable price

That looks incredible Andy. The masking of this shell is much harder than expected as I found out myself so hats off tonyour wife. Great colour scheme and it really does look perfect 👍🏻

Looks awesome Andy nice job! l really hope tamiya do the BHM Grasshopper next and in these sort of colours. Hopefully be not that expensive too! You can never stop a Hopper hopping! Haha! Great vid buddy.
Yeah I think it should be a model they release if they continue this blockhead theme with kits and definitely a different colour than the blue even if they don’t go for red. Thanks for watching and commenting :)

Never really got the block head thing, but they should have started with this! Ive ended up becoming a box art / original Tamiya kind of guy, to the point where ill only put a hop up or option part on a car if it was in the original manual. But occasionally I challenge this if I think something can be massively improved, an example is the terra scorcher, why didnt it have a "black edition" evil version, as i love the car, but was never fond of the flat blue and white wheels. Youve got me thinking about the grasshopper now!

It looks great Andy! I even like the number plates on it, they look better with the red! You guys did a great job on the body work, the paint and the decals! Lots of nice upgrades on there as well! I love the front shock towers and the front bumper. Well donw!
Cheers Addam, thanks for the feedback :) those number plates look so much better on this than they do on the hot shot 2 , got to give my wife the credit on the body preparation I just painted it and did the details. Upgrades look nice and I like the front FAV suspension Darren did originally. Thank you again :)

Ps I use an old big of guitar string for putting fake antena/ flags on my models.
Couldn’t agree more my wife did a fab job of masking it off for me , the guitar wire is a great idea, cheers ;)

Wow, that is one hell of a good looking Grasshopper!! The paint scheme, decals and especially those wheels and tyres look awesome, really suit it. And definitely change that pinion gear for one of the correct pitch if you're going to run it a bit, or it'll chew the plastic gears....
Yeah the pinion makes it a little noisy , ideally it needs a change , it’s ok for now though. Glad you like it, it’s all come together nicely I think , key was not to rush it , I reckon I could tinker for ages with it ha ha
Looks awesome Andy!! Looks more aggressive and more competitive. It kinda feels like a different car. I also like the tires you’ve used for it too!

You know someone makes a metal counter gear for The hoppers.
Yeah I think a few company’s do, one of them is RC pieces, I nearly thought about doing that , but there’s not a lot of point , grasshopper gears and gearbox’s are pretty robust

Nice, apart from that gear noise. Either there is something stuck between the teeth, or the gear mesh it's set ok, or the pinion has slightly different shape of teeth or so.

Hi Pete thanks for your comment :) it will be interesting to see what blockhead/ Tamiya come up with if they bring one out. I maybe wrong but I think it will be a little simpler looking than mine. It does look a bit Rough rider buggy champ , wasn’t necessarily intended though ;)

Came out great Andy. The hs2 should have been done in the red and white livery imo.
Cheers Keith, I didn’t mind the blue on the HS2 but it should have been a different colour. If they continue to release blockhead edition cars each release should be a different colour.
I do love that hopper, any chances of some pictures of how the front suspension mounts are fitted?
