Love this hammer too. Sharing this video on my FB page, BS Forge and Woodworking. For anyone looking for a rounding hammer to start with but on a budget or not wanting to pay the big prices for the hand forged ones yet, this is definitely the way to start!
Friis Forge no worries. If I can help out with something like this again, just let me know. You've helped me so much with knowledge and your videos, it's the least I can do.
Dressing the faces of a hammer is when you take out the factory edges or roughness and put on a very smooth finish. I will have a video out on exactly what this is and how to do it in the next 2 days
"What I'm gonna do, cause I'm canadian" Ok ... what's coming now methinks "Gonna use some .... " (not wanting to spoil it for everyone) Oh... chuckles Also: Two pages for your patreons? Nicely done!
Scrape off the varnish, and then flatten the sides of the handle. Makes a world of difference, even on smaller diameter handles. Just a suggestion. Good video!
It's a 4 lb lump of metal on a stick. Not sure what the big deal is, but it's also not my wheelhouse either. But I mean I use a wrench with a big bolt in it as a hammer.

I’ll do that.
Oh you got a mythical Alec Steele Hammer. . . . Has to be from a few years back as I haven't' heard of him making hammers in quite a long time.
Yes from 2016 :) it's awesome
interesting - but what is 'dressing the faces of the hammer'? Please explain.

It worked. lol Works well.
It may have been stated already but the hammer is drop forged. The process causes those center lines that you see. They are not casting marks.
Very cool! Thanks!
Yeah those are shear lines from where the forging was trimmed

Got the handle all sorted out. Hockey tape, works great.
Chris it should be a nice little hammer for many small projects mate ! Ie arrow heads ! As usual top video 👍👍
Thank You! Yes it would be great for arrow heads and small things like nails.
It looks like a nice hammer. Do you find two lbs to be too light?
I did with my previous 2lber but this one hits much harder. I need to figure out why this one is so good and the other is so not. Lol
Reuload?
?
I see a comment which is a day old, and this video was uploaded today, so thats why
Ahh. In order to stop getting demonetized I release videos two days early to Patreons. If you see comments earlier it's from them.
Great video as always - Formerly dysturbed1
Thanks, formerly disturbed. :)
lol Just figured I'd switch it up to my Smithing account instead of my garbage account.
