I know there's a lot of new releases, and I'll definitely get to them but I just wanted to see people's responses and reactions to the new format so I can make tweaks and adjustments. So as you can see, it never was my intention to look down on certain country or survival show. My humor has always been about spontaneity and it is also true for my comment. I would say Odd Eye is a successful attempt at keeping with their signature sound while expanding their target listener, as shown by greater public acceptance and extraordinary record sales. I love that they keep on growing and experimenting.

I feel personally that this trilogy has been energetically so much more successful than most kpop groups’ multi-album projects. All of it has been great!!!

Scream, Boca, and odd eye are a trilogy. Dystopia: the tree of language. Dystopia: Lose Myself. Road to utopia. Which from the lyrics of each are kind of like a rise up type of anti bullying anti hate.
For someone who loves fantasy, RPG, dystopian and futuristic themes, and rock..Dreamcatcher is a very satisfying group to follow. Love the way they blend in other sounds with rock. Great breakdown, you put a lot of what I felt watching this comeback into good words. Also hope they go back and forth a bit with the rock sound in the future, but even if they dont, they will surely find ways to always keep it interesting and fresh, like they have done until now.

In the comeback showcase they mentioned in the interviews that it was inspired by cyberpunk, so i do think all those references you mentioned were intentional
Welcome back! Something I noticed about the shots of red drink is that they are framed similarly to the shots of the tree of language turning red from the scream and boca mvs. That combined with the shots in this video of the tree being surrounded by technology (cables) makes me think that the tree they had been trying to protect/restore represents the false utopia they find.
The Tree of Language represents the internet which is itself a false utopia. It promises so much in the form massive amounts of information, 24 / 7 entertainment, a way to stay in contact with friends and relatives all over the country (or even planet) and so on, but when you dig a little deeper, especially into social media, you discover that it has a very dark underbelly to it. You'll remember that the Tree of Language went from alive, bright and blossoming to dark and corrupted in the beginning of the Scream video. That shows how the internet, which had so much good potential, went from a 'utopia' to a dark and ugly place full of lies, hate and cyber bullying.

PD is back!!! Thank you for the video, I actually learned some new things that I definitely wouldn't have known. That detail about the red drink was particularly interesting. A note about the traditional Asian element in this video: if you listen to the album intro, it starts with a drum(?) and flute sound that you really only hear in traditional Asian music! I initially wondered why the producers put that in there -- not that it doesn't go with the intro, I just thought it interesting considering the modern vibe they had for the rest of the album. Considering what you said about cyberpunk historically leaning into Asian elements, now I'm wondering whether that was intentional lol.

I say it every new comeback, but their art director deserves a raise. Their a-side videos are hypnotic, the combination of timeless archetypes with evocative imagery and subtext, the results are sublime. The b-sides are a good too, but they really step it up with videos like this.
The fact that Handong is so much more confident and powerful with both her vocals, her dance attitude, and just overall, makes me SO happy. SHE GOT PART IN THE CHORUS AND BRIDGE. LIKE REALLY POWERFUL PARTS. I AM SO PROUD OF DONGDONGIE

i saw a lot of ppl commenting the same meaning for the dystopia seried down here so i have to add a few details into it: firstly, yes, it also referes to "hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil" but theres more than that. the triology is based on haters and hate comments in the internet, the "new" medium for haters to take others down anonymously without the fear to get personal, direct backlash. its telling and teaching us how powerful this medium is and how fastly it can take a bad turn. scream: scream was the first title track of this "triology". its about hear no evil, but also about the inner feeling to scream all the pain, you as a bully victim received, away. but you cant. you cant, are too numb, too weak, to sad. scream is about the pain you feel and the thoughts which constantly loop in your head about how it happened, why you and how you can get outta there. mv references which are good examples for what ive explained: "one day suddenly the light did not come people forgot how to say good things", the destroyed nature, statues - maybe their utopia?, the fire combined with codes (cyberpunk aesthetic influence), black gowns as there are at a funeral - again maybe of utopias "funeral"?, how the mask entered their utopia and they fled etc boca: boca tells about say no evil, tells about how bad words can hurt. even when they stay unsaid, only written in a small comment somewhere in the internet. they hurt. in the bridge it goes "too many angels dying now" - a direct reference to kidols and also to normal humans like you and me who where murdered by the hate they got, the messages and the hate. how they decided to end their lives because they couldnt take it any longer. but it also referes to the point where you finally have enough hope, have enough strengh to stand up and get the will to fight against it. the moment where you want to actually react. mv references which underline the ideas and theories i explained: the girls seem very confident, talking directly at the mask/haters, asking them were the love is, they shall not open their mouths anymore (also complimented by siyeons solo scene with all the statues taped), dami saying that they shall stop playing hide and seek et cetera, the nature inspired place where the flowers and trees are blooming again, also the circle in which yoohyeon is sitting which is - in boca - made out of water but also a few hints to a bad ending, that they just hoped for a good end, an utopia, were dropped: after the arrow which was shot by yoohyeons not-utopia-self hit her, the watery circle around her utopia-self almost exploded and does look very familiar to the red burned circle jiu is standing in in odd eye while flower pedals were leaving her body and also how gahyeon started to cry this glittery gold liquid, also got it into her hands - maybe it refers to tree resin, the "blood" of the tree in their utopia? odd eye: odd eye is the last one out of this row and besides its meaning of "see no evil" it also went to a point (you can clearly see it in the end) where you realise: you cant change it. although we got a lot of cyberpunk references and scenes, it talkes about the brutal reality and that it wont end regardless how many times ppl tell haters to stop, how many good ppl are here; there will always be mad ones, ppl who wanna see someone to break on it (good example is yoohyeon taking the "red pill", the siyeon dropping the thingy where you have control over the tvs, gahyeon holding her head/shaking it after she touched the display of her computer and how it tried to soak her in or get her). odd eye shows us the side of the haters, how they hide behind their mask, how they keep going. it takes a bad ending, saying that we couldnt find the upotia weve dreamed of, a peaceful environment (in the mvs it was showed as natural habitat, trees, pretty light colors, the princess gowns etc - i mean. the tree was captured in this big manmade hall out of steel and stuff and jiu in her gown with the flowers was literally burning.) and that the digital "world", the technologic reality will stay and will still be used to harm too. i know that there are probably way more and extremely detailed explanations and im sorry if i made any grammar mistakes bc ye girl is not a native english speaker but i tried to take down one of the biggest "side" meanings and ideas for the triology beside the "hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil" to make sure that theres, besides the fact that alone would still be an amazing concept, more to see and interpret than that :) have a good day / evening / night yall, stay safe, see ya around ♡

I definitely agree about the mixing of Scream and Boca elements, I know there were some purposeful throwbacks to both in the choreo too. 2020 was for sure a good year for Dreamcatcher with their increase in sales and they've already sold over 64k in this first week of the comeback! :3 So proud of them and their growth, SK still doing them dirty but that's why we keep on fighting for them. I think this format of The Kulture Study is much better, and if it does help alleviate your personal physical and mental health situation, then I'm all for it! Honestly, having higher quality videos in comparison to a vast majority of reaction channels whose focus is primarily serving their audience, you'll definitely stand out more. I know you were worried about not necessarily catering to every release and every fandom that comes with them, but think of it as screening comebacks and seeing what you personally enjoy! You're servicing your own preferences over that of the vast majority who don't actually care about the video, and in the process, also heavily pleasing the audience that stay not just for the reaction, but for YOU and YOUR quality of video. Keep up the great work, PD, don't worry too much about this!

I think most people will be fine with you not making a reaction video for every single new release and producing high quality ones for the songs that you enjoy. Though PD maybe you could make a short video at the end of each month briefly going through some of the comebacks that didn't have a dedicated video and just sharing some quick thoughts on them. Excited to see you back and not feeling forced to produce content for us.
I really like that you switch between the close up shot and a medium shot during the commentary, PD. It makes the commentary dynamic rather than the regular one-shot reaction. And I can see a lot of work went into that, even though it's a not very noticeable detail. I also really like that you have prepared your thoughts about the video (though I may be wrong here), and that's why i prefer this channel over other reaction channels, the commentary. Although, i love the polished look, I also like the raw reactions where you geek-out over the video just like in IZ*One's Panorama. Great video, keep up the great work! P. S. I say it every new comeback, but their art director deserves a raise. Their a-side videos are hypnotic, the combination of timeless archetypes with evocative imagery and subtext, the results are sublime. The b-sides are a good too, but they really step it up with videos like this.
The fact that Handong is so much more confident and powerful with both her vocals, her dance attitude, and just overall, makes me SO happy. SHE GOT PART IN THE CHORUS AND BRIDGE. LIKE REALLY POWERFUL PARTS. I AM SO PROUD OF DONGDONGIE

i saw a lot of ppl commenting the same meaning for the dystopia seried down here so i have to add a few details into it:
firstly, yes, it also referes to "hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil" but theres more than that.
the triology is based on haters and hate comments in the internet, the "new" medium for haters to take others down anonymously without the fear to get personal, direct backlash. its telling and teaching us how powerful this medium is and how fastly it can take a bad turn.
scream:
scream was the first title track of this "triology". its about hear no evil, but also about the inner feeling to scream all the pain, you as a bully victim received, away. but you cant. you cant, are too numb, too weak, to sad. scream is about the pain you feel and the thoughts which constantly loop in your head about how it happened, why you and how you can get outta there.
mv references which are good examples for what ive explained: "one day suddenly the light did not come
people forgot how to say good things", the destroyed nature, statues - maybe their utopia?, the fire combined with codes (cyberpunk aesthetic influence), black gowns as there are at a funeral - again maybe of utopias "funeral"?, how the mask entered their utopia and they fled etc
boca:
boca tells about say no evil, tells about how bad words can hurt. even when they stay unsaid, only written in a small comment somewhere in the internet. they hurt. in the bridge it goes "too many angels dying now" - a direct reference to kidols and also to normal humans like you and me who where murdered by the hate they got, the messages and the hate. how they decided to end their lives because they couldnt take it any longer. but it also referes to the point where you finally have enough hope, have enough strengh to stand up and get the will to fight against it. the moment where you want to actually react.
mv references which underline the ideas and theories i explained:
the girls seem very confident, talking directly at the mask/haters, asking them were the love is, they shall not open their mouths anymore (also complimented by siyeons solo scene with all the statues taped), dami saying that they shall stop playing hide and seek et cetera, the nature inspired place where the flowers and trees are blooming again, also the circle in which yoohyeon is sitting which is - in boca - made out of water
but also a few hints to a bad ending, that they just hoped for a good end, an utopia, were dropped:
after the arrow which was shot by yoohyeons not-utopia-self hit her, the watery circle around her utopia-self almost exploded and does look very familiar to the red burned circle jiu is standing in in odd eye while flower pedals were leaving her body
and also how gahyeon started to cry this glittery gold liquid, also got it into her hands - maybe it refers to tree resin, the "blood" of the tree in their utopia?
odd eye:
odd eye is the last one out of this row and besides its meaning of "see no evil" it also went to a point (you can clearly see it in the end) where you realise: you cant change it. although we got a lot of cyberpunk references and scenes, it talkes about the brutal reality and that it wont end regardless how many times ppl tell haters to stop, how many good ppl are here; there will always be mad ones, ppl who wanna see someone to break on it (good example is yoohyeon taking the "red pill", the siyeon dropping the thingy where you have control over the tvs, gahyeon holding her head/shaking it after she touched the display of her computer and how it tried to soak her in or get her). odd eye shows us the side of the haters, how they hide behind their mask, how they keep going. it takes a bad ending, saying that we couldnt find the upotia weve dreamed of, a peaceful environment (in the mvs it was showed as natural habitat, trees, pretty light colors, the princess gowns etc - i mean. the tree was captured in this big manmade hall out of steel and stuff and jiu in her gown with the flowers was literally burning.) and that the digital "world", the technologic reality will stay and will still be used to harm too.
i know that there are probably way more and extremely detailed explanations and im sorry if i made any grammar mistakes bc ye girl is not a native english speaker but i tried to take down one of the biggest "side" meanings and ideas for the triology beside the "hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil" to make sure that theres, besides the fact that alone would still be an amazing concept, more to see and interpret than that :)

I definitely agree about the mixing of Scream and Boca elements, I know there were some purposeful throwbacks to both in the choreo too. 2020 was for sure a good year for Dreamcatcher with their increase in sales and they've already sold over 64k in this first week of the comeback! :3 So proud of them and their growth, SK still doing them dirty but that's why we keep on fighting for them. I think this format of The Kulture Study is much better, and if it does help alleviate your personal physical and mental health situation, then I'm all for it! Honestly, having higher quality videos in comparison to a vast majority of reaction channels whose focus is primarily serving their audience, you'll definitely stand out more. I know you were worried about not necessarily catering to every release and every fandom that comes with them, but think of it as screening comebacks and seeing what you personally enjoy! You're servicing your own preferences over that of the vast majority who don't actually care about the video, and in the process, also heavily pleasing the audience that stay not just for the reaction, but for YOU and YOUR quality of video. Scream was hearing Boca was speaking and Odd Eye was seeing so technically the trilogy was a pattern for the storyline that now has ended

I really like that you switch between the close up shot and a medium shot during the commentary, PD. It makes the commentary dynamic rather than the regular one-shot reaction. And I can see a lot of work went into that, even though it's a not very noticeable detail. I also really like that you have prepared your thoughts about the video (though I may be wrong here), and that's why i prefer this channel over other reaction channels, the commentary. Although, i love the polished look, I also like the raw reactions where you geek-out over the video just like in IZ*One's Panorama. Great video, keep up the great work! P. S.
