    Good stuff Matt! Really liked the global outlook on the conduct of the season.

    Matt, great stuff as always! Regarding burning out at the end of seasons, I think a big contributor is starting off every game slow or playing from behind. You can’t rest your best players if you need them to help you come back…

    Having a fresh set of eyes with the Steelers at a senior position is a great idea.

    • @shawnmedguy
      @shawnmedguy 4 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      But that threatens Tomlin. We know based on history, Tomlin will never allow a true talent at any coordinator position to enter the building. He will continue collecting 1990 ball, old school coaches with little talent or new ideas.

      @shawnmedguy A second set of eyes is a good idea but Tomlin might never agree to it. That's part of the problem with the Steelers - old school thinking.

    Matt I know we need a wide receiver but I sure would love two big defensive tackles that can rush in the first three rounds so offenses can't just focus on our outside linebackers.

      I agree especially when you have to face Derrick Henry again atleast two more times next season and we all know what he did against the Steelers defense this past season.

      I think 1 DT in the first 2 rounds and 1 more DT / NT will be good in this class.
      If the right talent is there in the first and second round you take the talent but there will be talent later in the draft to be happy with

Exercise physiologist by degree with a knowledge of biomechanics as well, and I will tell you that I was very surprised to learn that they have padded full contact practices on a Friday... physiologically you will not be recovered on Sunday from those types of practices.

    Fix the trenches in the draft. Get skill positions in FA. Steelers will have the money.

    If you want to base your offense on the running game, then why be afraid of getting a top level RB early in the draft? If it is just going to be a compliment because you already have a franchise QB and weapons at WR, then yeah, get a RB later in the draft. But with Arthur Smith as OC, who has already established that his offense is super run heavy, and your QB is most likely going to be Justin Fields who contributes to that running game himself, then you better prioritize that RB position. If they are not going to go get a big time RB in free agency, then they better get the best possible RB they can get in the draft. I don't think the Lions are upset that they picked Gibbs in the 1st or the Falcons getting Bijan Ribinson in the 1st. And the Eagles going and getting Barkley in free agency worked out really well in their run heavy offense. If you want to be run heavy, GO GET THE BEST RB YOU CAN GET!! Don't just hope you can find one in the 3rd or 4th, or hit a lottery in the 7th. And yes, I know the Eagles and Lions have elite O-Lines that make those RB's job a lot easier. But the Steelers have invested in the O-Line in the 1st round the last 2 years. They need the best O-Line Coach they can find as well. I'm just so damn frustrated with this team. And I'm so sick of the "Well the Steelers just don't do that kind of stuff." When are we going to evolve with the times and start doing whatever it takes to win? Not just doing the Steelers usual bullshit. Obviously that hasn't been working for almost a DECADE!!🤦‍♂️ I'm just not going to expect them to win until I see they actually want to win, instead of holding these outdated traditions that seem to be more important for some reason.

    If they are going to do RB by committee, they don’t need an early round bruiser. With the shelf life of the position, the best GMs likely see rostering 2-3 big play capable backs as the future.

    We need a fast running back or don't draft a running back at all. Just draft a fast wide receiver. I don't want another slow running back like Najee.

  • @greghoke779

    Here is the RB name that you are looking for: Brayshul Tuten from Va Tech. He’s just under 6’ and a bit over 200lbs. He runs in the 4.3’s. Watch his tape guys. Mid round guy that fits both sides of the argument.

  • @tyronewaters7117
    @tyronewaters7117 5 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    Kaleb Johnson is my favorite so far in the draft. I'm pretty sure the Steelers won't pick him, but he is a homerun hitter with great burst. Just what we needed. Kinda like when Detroit surprised everyone and selected Gibbs. But no matter the RB, run, run, pass will not produce the desired success. Judkins is a nice back also.

    If they featured Jaylen in this offense over the last couple years this offense would have looked far better than it has. He always has the ability to create an explosive in the passing game and in the run game. With all the check downs from these recent QBs…it was another shortcoming of this coaching staff to feature Najee as much as they did.

    If I was Jaylen Warren I would've definitely headed for a different team in free agency. You know Tomlin says he has no problem with Warren being the featured back then gives Najee 20 touches to Warrens 4-6. And as Najee breaks one here and there to only be ran down from behind by the linebackers I sit and can't help but to think man Warren might be taken that to the house or at least made it a giant chunk play and this happened several times a year and sometimes a few times a game. I just feel like most times even when Warren looked to be feeling it and making explosive plays they'd rotate him right back out for Najee. I don't get it

      Warren is a Restricted free , he basically is Steelers property , if he signs an offer sheet the Steelers have the right of first refusal , if they don't want to match an offer sheet they will get some sort of draft compensation

    @Zack_Balo 4 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    The problem with a first round RB is the same one we had when we drafted Najee. Is our O-line truly good enough to get the best out of that player? And is that player truly special enough to warrant that pick? Not saying they shouldn’t, but I’d only settle for Jeanty or Hampton, assuming either of them are there at 21.

    Matt,
    If I was a first year head couch of a football team at any level, I’d NEED you by my side to help make decisions.
    I’ve always respected your insights and often wonder why you aren’t involved in scouting/coaching for a team?
    I have zero insight into NFL “goings-on”, but I’m sure every team has an analytical team that can derive the same stats.
    Would it be fair to assume that certain teams employ analysts who tend to provide data that favors stats that go along with their current coaching philosophy??

    If Hampton is there in the 2nd depending on who else is there or falls you take Hampton!!!
    He will be gone 99% before we pick in the 2nd and I don't think trading up for a RB is a good idea with how many good ones there are. But if he's there RD 2 pick 21 you take him without any doubts

    It has nothing to do with preseason with being tired at end. Steelers don’t
    Play guys in preseason games either. It’s more using all 53 guys during games except QB. Rotate D Line definitely more. Anyone else that usually gets fatigued, sub them in and out more. It’s better to have a fresh backup in than a tired star. Heyward couldn’t breathe and they left him in. Shocker, TD given up.

    If Warren stays, drafting 2 running backs is a waste of resources. When you review the college backs available, compared to the backs the better NFL teams have, the draft is not a deep at the position as it looks. I don't see many game changing running backs with breakaway speed, and burst at the line of scrimmage.

      I agree. I think a lot of the disdain for Naj comes from the opinion he is Tomlins guy. And we know how people feel about him. The problem with Naj has been that he's done exactly what the coaches asked him to do. If Warren is their 1, and they let Naj walk, they better draft 2 rb's. Or get a FA rb in addition to drafting one
