- Resurrecting a brand as legendary as the Katana is a very tricky affair because you are putting at stake a legacy which has withstood the test of time. So Suzuki have tread carefully by handpicking their most iconic K5 engine, the right amount of electronics and more importantly their best design effort yet which can hold a candle to the original Katana's signature boxy styling. Whether it can all come together to deliver a special experience that the Katana name demands, Sarge hops on to find out in this comprehensive review.

The Katana getting the attention it deserves! I guess only a small number of GenZ audience will understand how Iconic these machines are!
Glad you enjoyed it bud. Do like and share the love ahead
I am a genZ but katana is my favourite litre class bike
As an owner of Svartpilen 250, I truly understand the pain of such small fuel tanks (mine is only ~9 litres lol). I still tour on it with journeys very often longer than 300 KM but I cope with the frequent refill stops as a means to take a break. Once you've set your eyes on any particular motorcycle, you start throwing practicality out the window and start to learn living with all the quirks.
True that
Even tough most of us can’t have one of these but it’s a delight to see this kind of treatment to these jewels. Well done.

One of the most underrated machines in India. Beautifully covered Sarge!
Thanks bud. Do like and share the love ahead
Underrated? Dude the bike was just launched. You must be living under a stone this while. Underrated term you use for a motorcycle that has been around for long but people preferred it less over its competition. Like the old FZ1000 or the CB1000r.
@@ChrisBOMtoATL Just take a look at the market and then comment please.
Good machine but price high by minimal electronics
@@gifty9873 you look and then tell me what should you comment on. Looks like you are really a gifted kid. God bless 🤣

suzuki has done so well to maintain the dna of the original katana.that headlight and retro-ish feel, its a beautiful bike.well done on the review as always
💯 The best modern day rendition in my books. Do like and share
I've owned my Katana for two years now in Australia, it is everything you could hope it to be. The k5 engine is sublime, it delivers good power from very low rpm that just builds in a perfectly linear fashion until you reach a limit you will never need. All day comfort too. Cheers.
Just wish it had a bigger tank
@@SagarSheldekarOfficial Yeah, I hear that a lot Sagar. However it has a fuel range similar to many other large capacity cruisers and naked bikes. The BMW R9T, Harley's, the MT09 and many bikes in a similar class.
I get about 230km to a full tank, which is a fairly good range.
I have to wonder where the fuss about the tank comes from - thirty years of Harley Sportsters and not a mention of how small the tank is, but all of the early reviews of the katana can't seem to get past it.
I wonder why that is?
@@parsivalshorse In it's class the tank capacity is definitely the smallest by a large margin. The MT09 has a 14 litre tank, the Z900 has a 17 litre tank, the R9T has a 18 litre tank etc. You may get 230 kms but a lot of people will get a lot less especially in India where roads aren't great and we have a ton of traffic. 12 litres tank range is definitely very very less and a big downer as you ideally would have to fill up every 150 kms or so at the very least.
@@brendonfernandes2877 The MT and R9T get less km/lt.
Not sure why you think you would need to fill at 150km, but it's mostly open roads where I am. Cheers and thanks.
@@parsivalshorse This is an Indian review. We don't have much open roads so for us the tank range is a problem and that's why every reviewer mentions this as it is a problem. I know of at least one guy who dropped the idea of buying this bike because of the tank range. The GSX-S1000 for instance has a 19l tank range which is FAR FAR more useful.
Just sorting my license in the UK, going for the MT07 for 2 years and then one of these. Absolutely love it in style and sound.
And there you have it ...machine finally getting the attention it deserves and for us Indians - taking motorcycle reviews to it's pinnacle ... Man you are just amazing

Sarge is the only reviewer who has pointed out that the heavy handling of Katana isn't related to steering geometry but the flat profile tyres. That's called some indepth rider knowledge. 😀
Looking forward to riding it with rounder profile tyres 🤞🏻🤞🏻
I missed my "night rider" figurine after watching this video... Kudos to you for bringing the memories back and a review as tasteful as it gets
Haha i hear you. Glad you enjoyed it. Do like and share to help us make more such content
Great review. I own a 2020 Katana, U.S.A. spec. The earlier version doesn't have the riding modes or quick shifter. Like you said, it's Achilles heel is it's small tank, but for the type of riding I do it's not much of an issue. The real star of the show besides the styling is that great motor. Keep up the good work!
Thanks man. Glad you enjoyed it
Now! that's how you pay homage to a classic, Suzuki knows how to make a machine. The design is absolutely gorgeous reminding me a lot of the older Katana, but! the pricing and range are a bit disappointing.
As always Sarge, your reviews are a delight to watch. Please bring in more exciting bike reviews.
That's the plan. Until then do like and share the love ahead

What a review man... It's awsm...
By the way among THE MIGHTY BUSA, KATANA AND THE NINJA 1000 , which one would you prefer as a priced possession in your garage?
Not that I can afford any ... But still it would be great to know...
Cheers man ...
I would go for the busa hands down
I never liked the Katana but I’m tempted to get the new GSXs-1000, it has a 19L tank. Just need to work out how to drop some weight on the bike.
2:42 that's not a problem actually. Suzuki has kept it so that the rider feels the connection between the road the bike and itsel or something in between those lines as I read in an article. It's something of a very raw nature. That snatchy throttle is now like the USP of the k5 engine. Rather than seeing it as a con, I think it should be looked as it's positive side I guess. Idk if I'm making much sense here. It's like the thump and mechanical feel to an RE

only downside to this awesome video is the annoying effects(those light effects ) almost once every 10-15 seconds

Can't wait to try it with better tires
nice editing dude you really made this bike looks cooler than what already was!
Cheers. Glad you enjoyed it
I have a feeling that Suzuki and Honda have started loosing steam with their 2 wheel offerings in the recent years. This makes life of Triumph and Kawasaki more easy. But the downside is that the competition too is dying out.
I really hope Suzuki hit the ball out of the park with their new gsxr 🤞🏻

Which is a better package for track usage
Rr310 with race and dynamic kit or the new rc 390
The BTO RR310 is more track ready

To be frank i dont like the headlight but other than tacth top notch
You are right about the tyres, not the best choice by Suzuki. I am going to change them before the winter arrives over here. They have to pinch the pennies somewhere I suppose
I am looking forward to riding it with better ones
7:03 nice line brother.
Good script in this video. Sharp slices of words.

If I change the tires, would it suffice to improve its track abilities?
And upgrade the forks for better damping support. The rebound rate is too high even when you bump up the rebound all the way

Mainly lavasa
Why are the manufacturers focused on reducing the tank's fuel holding capacity? Same was the case with the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 I guess. by fitting a petite fuel tank in a touring bike, what are they trying to prove?
The 12l tank stings for sure but this was never meant to be a tourer

The Suzuki katana is a bike which has its own unique identity in the litter class segment. Its one of the coolest looks 1000cc bike's ever seen. The katana has a very Timeless design, and Suzuki has done a fantastic jobe by mixing old school charm with modern engineering. I realy like the headlamp looks just like the original. Most of the People will buy this bike because of the way it looks. Then the engine, has good performance, and and awesome sound.
Yes there are few things that makes the katana wanting for improvements like a bigger fuel tank, TFT display ect.
But overall Suzuki's new katana is a very interesting choice to look at especially styling is concerned.
They could have lowered the price then it would have been a sweet deal.
The review was realy good bro 👍 the katana was looking great on those shorts.
