Sam is such a great reactor. They are a great duo obviously but alot of people just talk nonsense during the film and take very little away from it. Samantha not only understands the whole film but she understands the depth of each character which is refreshing to see. All to say. LOVE YOUR REACTIONS
Agreed. Most observant and intelligent reactor I saw on yt. I hate when reactors get everything right out of nowhere because I then know they already saw the movie and just faking the reaction. But Sam seems to be legit. EDIT: And most beautiful if I may creepily add...
When I saw this in the theater I remember there were these two young boys in the row in front of mine. They were about 11 or 12. When Tom H put on that gas mask and ran in slow-mo with the samurai sword, the kids immediately looked at each other with expressions that each said "this is the coolest thing I have ever seen!" It made me nostalgic for my own younger days when I had those kinds of reactions.
I love how Kong rips out that one Skullcrawler's guts, much to the disgust of the human visitors. Also, I love how Samuel L. Jackson brought back his iconic line from Jurassic Park: "Hold on to your butts"
I liked that they increased Kong's scale to match that of new Godzilla and gave him a more bipedal physique. While he's still very ape, the change to Kong's posture really makes him feel like a different creature entirely.
Kong always was like that, it was only in Peter Jackson's King Kong that they changed him to simply a giant silverback gorilla. Kong was always depicted as a giant ape-like creature.
My favorite King Kong movie is the 1976 version. It starred Jeff Bridges, Jessica Lange, and Charles Grodin. It is the one I watched the most as a kid.
I feel that the guy who sacrificed himself to the big one had two outcomes in mind. Either to be eaten or just have Kong hear the explosion and come to save his team. So in a way, he didn't die for nothing
I found this channel like 2 years ago ,i think last action hero was the first reaction i saw from you guys, amazing to see how this channel has grown, always appreciated you and your wife's genuine reaction to all the films i grew up with, happy holidays

Speaking of people from Marvel being in this movie, I saw Casey from the Loki series as one of the soldiers. So, Loki was not the first time Tom Hiddleston and Eugene Cordero interacted together.
I remember seeing “King Kong Escapes” at the theater In 1967, good movie, Kong had to fight robot Kong, rated G even with some blood and violence! Haha Fun times
If you think about it this was the perfect Conan the Barbarian movie. Kong is Conan. He doesnt say much, he fights and kills all sorts of monsters, defeats evil men, all for a lovely maid
my favorite will always be King Kong from 1976 with Jeff Bridges and Jessica Lang. I saw it as a kid when it came out so it could just be the nostalgia because the reviews for it are mixed but as a 6 year old this film blew my mind.
super entertaining movie - liked it a lot 🙂 perfect cinematography & editing, great subwoofer-sound, great cgi, a beautiful world full of cool ideas and things, good pacing, brutal fun action, good characters, flat but still a good told story, etc. ❤
When this came out, no one knew that they were going to put him against Godzilla So when that roar came in the after credit scene, everyone was jumping for joy
You kind of nailed it with the reference to Apocalypse Now...that film was based on the novel Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, featuring a protagonist name Charles Marlowe; both the names Conrad and Marlowe appear in the film.
I know you two will need to watch the other movies in this series, but if you ever get the chance, watch the 1976 version of King Kong with Jessica Lange and Jeff Bridges. It is a great version based on the original. The movies get better in this series in my opinion.
Great reaction! 😊 "Is that a monkey!?" 🦍 I've been looking forward to this one all week. "Hold on to your butts" and "bitch plz". Classic Samuel L. Jackson lines. Love it! This one, and the 1976 movie with Jeff Bridges are my two favorite King Kong movies. And the great cast of Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, John Goodman, and John C. Reilly along with the great soundtrack makes this a fantastic film. Looking forward to the next reaction. 😊
Also saw Godzilla Minus One in theaters, the newest of the Japanese is the dark knight of Godzilla movies and is just a great movie and would love to see a reaction when that comes out or see it in theaters in the best screen it was great! I’m going again this weekend
There's also a animated series on Amazon skull Island which is Cannon to the monster verse that also take place 10 years after this movie. Also there is a TV show on Apple monarch legacy of monsters TV series.
The first "King Kong" movie was from 1933. It is this period the Jack Black film was meant to evoke. The first "Godzilla" movie was released in Japan in 1954. They didn't get smashed together until 1962 with "King Kong vs. Godzilla". I would've been a few months old.
Heard the new Godzilla flick is good. Can't wait to see it. Always loved Kong or Godzilla movies. Sometimes I just wanna see more of them and monster battles instead of the ppl lol Great reaction y'all
Hey Guys thank you for watching this movie A reaction was the best and I hope you both watch the other monster movies too on your channel soon Especially Godzilla versus Kong🐲🐵
Fun fact the guy who played Chapman did the mocap for koba in planet of the apes franchise. And he did it for kong in this film. I think too. (Idk if he continued for the other films)
Yeah Toby Kebbell, he only played the part of Kong in this one, he grew up round corner from me (never met him tho) so i always enjoy seeing him in stuff.
The "Monsterverse" is: Godzilla 2014, Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and Godzilla vs Kong. The fifth film is Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire out in march 2024, very soon!
In middle school, my friend had his birthday party at a movie theatre and we saw Godzilla 2000. (It was 1999) Guess where they sit a dozen 10yr old kids in a movie theatre? Front row. Kinda reminds me of this movie a bit. Just in terms of monster movies.
John C Reilly's character could communicate with the people on the island. He says that they talk using their minds and he doesn't understand how it works but you know what they're saying.
Kong is a juvenile in this movie. About a 103 ft tall. Today’s adult Kong is 300+ ft now. Suko ( mini Kong from GxK The New Empire is about 140 ft as a child ape, compared to this Kong as a juvenile
Great reaction, glad you liked it. I loved this movie; great cinematography and phenomenal soundtrack, but the King Kong from 1976 is the one I grew up with (Jeff Bridges, Jessica Lange) so I'll always have a soft spot for it.
You have to see the original Kong -- it's quick, sweet, groundbreaking, and Fay Wray is the first and greatest of scream queens. Also, if you haven't already, please check out the TV special which came out alongside Peter Jackson's Kong, about the history of Skull Island. Thank you!
Great review. I'm currently watching the Monarch: Legacy of Monsters series, which 3 episodes in is quite good. I hope you get a chance to review it in time.
Here's the timeline of the Monster Verse Movies: MONARCH LEGACY OF MONSTERS takes place in 1954 and 2015, one year after The 2014 San Francisco Incident. Kong Skull Island takes place in 1973, the year the war in Vietnam had ended. GODZILLA takes place in 1999 and 2014. GODZILLA 2: KING OF THE MONSTERS takes place in 2019, 5 years after the San Francisco Incident, but now it's The Battle Of Boston. GODZILLA VS KONG takes place in 2024, 10 years after The San Francisco Incident and 5 years after The Battle Of Boston.
After this are Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Godzilla vs Kong and the upcoming Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. All of these films are accompanied by prequel comics that expand the story. Godzilla 2014 is the second American remake of the Japanese film series of the same name. There's a Skull Island animated series on Netflix that serves as a sequel to this
The jungle scenery is even more beautiful than it appears in the film… I have been there a few times, Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park in Vietnam, and Trang An & Ninh Binh. I got to see the last of the “native village” movie sets before they were removed so the park could be restored to its natural state. The area is spectacular, and only 2 hours from Hanoi !
It's crazy how much of a polar opposite this movie is to godzilla where godzilla is a slow burn to see him fully as where this just jumps head first into Kong
I really like this incarnation of Kong! I didn't think this movie was gonna live up to Peter Jackson's King Kong, but they made it unique with this Kong. It reminds me a lot of the Toho's version back in the original King Kong vs Godzilla (1962) & King Kong Returns (1967)! I can totally see the influence from the Toho's version to this movie along with the very first and original King Kong from (1933). This movie was a lot of fun and I look forward for the Legendary Godzilla series (or Monsterverse as how most fans would call it).
The original Kong was 40 feet tall (though there was a cartoon series with a theme song that said he was ten times the size of a man). This new Kong is specifically designed to take on Godzilla. So he has to be a lot bigger. Godzilla was always well over 300 feet and the one in these movies is closer to 400 feet.
Great reaction as always!! Okay, completely unrelated and since you reacted to season 1 and enjoyed it, Reacher season 2 drops on Dec 15th. Also. there is an extended trailer for season 2 released with a very special message from Alan, Reacher himself.
If you didn't realize the guy who says "Is that a Monkey" was Kong and played Koba in Planet of the Apes. I love all these movies. The cinematography is so fucking cool. Love monster movies and the hate for some of them is ridiculous. Hear the show Monarch is great.
I may have missed you naming this one, but try Godzilla released in 1998 with Andrew McCarthy and Jean Reno. I thought it was really good. This one is a great movie. I felt like they finally got King Kong right. Thanks for a great reaction, you're fun to watch a movie with!
I thought of all the Monster Universe films, this one was the best. Not knocking Godzilla; I thought it was pretty good. And to me Gozilla vs. Kong was a bit disappointing. But Samantha, one statement you made during the helicopter attack scene perfectly encapsulates this entire operation, and made me laugh my head off: "What. A. Sh*t Show!" You could NOT be more right! An entertaining movie!
I'd agree with you. I loved Godzilla. It's just frustrating to watch once they're doing the night scenes because it's just so ridiculously dark. I also think it was a mistake to kill off a certain character in that film as early as they did. Could have easily done that later in the film or even not at all. Like it was easy to grasp the stakes of what was happening without that. King of the Monsters could have cut out a good portion of the human scenes as there was a lot of fluff that was basically Easter eggs to the original films that didn't go anywhere. King Ghidorah was absolutely awesome in that movie though. Godzilla vs Kong was just too short tbh like they cut back on the human scenes, but didn't increase the screen time of the monsters. Pretty big mistake imo. The monster scenes were still extremely satisfying though. Hopefully the new one coming up is able to hit that right kind of balance that this movie had. This one was perfect in terms of balancing out the humans and monster fights.
When Godzilla came out, the tone was so much more serious than previous movies that came before so I had really high hopes for this monsterverse. Kong deviated a tiny bit with more comedic elements but it's still very engaging. The next movie returns to that more "taking itself seriously" aspect and it's another incredible visual spectacle. Godzilla vs kong however, in my opinion flushes everything they built in the first 3 movies straight down the toilet. It's still visually amazing and as a stand alone movie it's super fun to watch but it feels out of place when contrasted with the first 3 movies in this monsterverse.

This movie has some outstanding cinematography. The opening scenes with Kong and when the group first land on Skull Island is incredible.
@8:13 “Hold on to your butts!” Samuel also said that in Jurassic Park.

Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, and John C. Reilly together in a non-MCU movie. I love it!
*And Eugene Cordero.*
@@hulkhatepunybanner I was referring to the movies, not the television shows.
I worked at Kualoa Ranch in Hawaii where they filmed this movie. They still have some artifacts from the film during their tour
I highly recommend you watch the original King Kong 1933, it's film history.
My favorite King Kong movie is the 1976 version. It starred Jeff Bridges, Jessica Lange, and Charles Grodin. It is the one I watched the most as a kid.

i hadn’t considered that. good point.
This movie was shockingly brutal. But appropriately so.
Even more so with the right sound system!
King Kong (2005) was just a tad more disturbing
The ending of Skull Island was beautiful.

Definitely consider reacting to the original Godzilla from 1954 or Gojira. Also just more reaction to creature/giant monster movies in general
Speaking of people from Marvel being in this movie, I saw Casey from the Loki series as one of the soldiers. So, Loki was not the first time Tom Hiddleston and Eugene Cordero interacted together.
Here is a vote for you to watch the 1933 King Kong. You two will love it :)
My favorite King Kong movie would be the 1976 version staring Jeff Bridges and Jessica Lange.
"Loki, Nick Fury, Captain Marvel, and King Kong: Skull Island" should have been the title
You forgot about Corpsman Dey (John C. Reilly) from Guardians of the Galaxy.
Skull island was a fine movie
I cannot wait for King Of The Monsters, that one's my favorite.
