I think the reason why Amy is “hated” because she’s a strong woman who pursued her dream, didn’t entertain Ted/Laurie in his pursuit of her, told him how she loves him ever how she’s always “second” to Jo in everything esp in Ted/Laurie’s affection. But the most important reason Amy is “hated” by women viewers is because she’s the embodiment of what/how they want to be - strong, feisty, UNAFRAID to tell how much she loves the man who’s been her love ever since but would not accept him & be the “second” choice just because his real live didn’t accept him. Ted/Laurie turned to Amy, married him as well, is because he realized that he’s just like (Amy) who loves(d) Jo all his life but that love was not reciprocated.
