Looks great! I do mine similar, except I use metal fence post, you can stake tomatoes the same way.My Dad runs 2x4 metal fencing for his beans to run on.Happy gardening.
Thank you so much for your quick response. I can't wait to start going through your video's, they all look very interesting. I want to start canning food, but really not sure where to start. I live in rural central Florida. It is already HOT.
Oh I forgot I hope you had a beautidul Mothers Day. Mine was fantastic. I even got to drive for the first time since surgery! Yeah drove in 5 counties in all. Kids spread far and wide. have a great day and happy gardening. There is nothing like dirty gardening hands!
That sure is pretty. Even with no beans on it. This will be my first time doing pole beans outside. Trying the Fortex like I had in the GH. I haven't put the trellis up yet, still waiting to see how many beans come up. But if mine looks like yours, you'll know where I got the idea. :-)
That is a great set up.....I am going to have to try that.....I have only grown pole beans once but I think it was the blue lake variety and was not happy with them at all.....your right about that trellis.....just says garden when you see it.......Thanks.....
Thanks, Susan. I've been using wooden poles and it has gotten to be a big pain each year and searched to see if anyone uses String instead. I really miss seeing your videos show up on my feed.
Great Trellis,Kentucky Wonders are the Best ! Your a very Motivated person ! Be sure to Eat alot of Green Veggie,To out live a 100 lol Happy Mothers Day !
last gardening season I co-mingled my tomato cages and cucumber crops. that didnt work as well as it sounded like it would in theory. I had too many oversized cucumbers because they could hide inside of the cages. But I threw the huge ones into a pile and they are growing volunteers so I can transplant this year.
That trellis is a thing of beauty. Great work. I have only grown bush beans but I did buy some Kentucky Wonder Seeds thinking maybe I would try it out one day. Is there an advantage to pole beans over bush beans?
I have been using concrete reinforcement wire for a fence for my poll beans and it makes grate cages for my tomato plants too, since 1978. I thought you might like to try it. God Bless, Kenny
+Kenneth Williams yea, that's what we've used, 6"x6", We've been using the same ones for 25-years, they're rusted as all hell, but they still function.
Oh m How great is this. I have been contiplating getting cattle fence. But I think this is a fantastic idea. What kind of a butter bean do you grow? I have been wondering which one to buy, We have rain here today. But, hope to get potatoes in tommorrow, yes with the hand I am a bit behind. I have peas to plant also. We are still having the ocassional 34-38 nights. Strawberries we have been covering on those nights. Blueberries are coming. I think the fruit is gonna be sweeeet with the frosts.
I used to do this,my dad retired from bell telephone so we always used old phone cable and baling twine dad still does this.I went to concrete wire which stays up year round.
Do you take the bean structure down each year? I am putting up a bean trellis in my new garden but I fully intend to leave that structure there for next year.
Thanks for posting video.Going do this in my garden.Coworkers grandmaw taught him to do beans this way.Have you had any luck with rattlesnake pole beans?
Just found your video's. Nice job, I'm impressed with your trellis. I've always grown bush beans but I want to try this trellis next time. What kind of posts are those? and length? I just subscribed to you. Thank you for your time.
This may be a silly question, but could you use the wire in place of the string to make it more heavy duty? So the wire would be going both vertically and horizontally. Or will that hurt the plants?
All my kin were city folks and knew nothing about any of this stuff. My one set of grandparents didn't even have a back yard. Their house was on a corner on a hill and my grandfather put a 3 car garage attached to the house for his business and their yard was concrete and with tar stripes. I've always been the odd ball in may ways and still am according to my family. Oh well it could always be worse. Your garden is impressive.
I'd be so tempted to run a clothesline across the top of those posts :-) it would work for a while at least until the beans grew up ...LOL... Plus the laundry would make sure the beans got watered
What a blessing to have a grandma or two grandmas that taught you such important stuff!
This is exactly what I was looking for. I love your mannerism in this video. You come across very pleasant and easy going. Thanks for sharing.
I think this is one of the most effective ways to trellis and I love the price point! I use this method often.

Wow you have a big property I wish I had that much garden space .have fun with your garden .
WOW that's going to be a lot of beans. Good job!!! I think I will start doing that way too.
I put my posts and wire in today. Looking forward to a great season. Thanks for your video!

I like that technique, perfect for the type of garden I have. I suspect I'll even go cheaper, cut my own poles out of the woods.
Great video thank you for posting it! You do great work!

try case knife beans. they cook up nice and very easy to string. good for canning and freezing.
Those Kentucky Wonders beans do you just snap them and cook them or do you have to remove the string part off the bean before your eat them?
Do you take the bean structure down each year? I am putting up a bean trellis in my new garden but I fully intend to leave that structure there for next year.

I have grown kentucky wonders and they some of the best and twice as long as half runners.
Just found your video's. Nice job, I'm impressed with your trellis. I've always grown bush beans but I want to try this trellis next time. What kind of posts are those? and length? I just subscribed to you. Thank you for your time.
How far apart do you space each pole bean plant?? Or seed? It's all new to me.
That's an epic trellis😮
This may be a silly question, but could you use the wire in place of the string to make it more heavy duty? So the wire would be going both vertically and horizontally. Or will that hurt the plants?
Kentucky Wonders are the only beans I grow. I save the seeds from the best looking beans and replant the next year.
I bet they are going to do good it looks like you have some shad there.
Thank you friend.
hi, can i get a product link for the twine?

How far apart are your poles?
Thats alotta beans !!!

It depends on how many posts I have, LOL I think they were about 15 feet apart.
How did you set your posts?
I just dug the holes and put the posts in there. In my soil that held up fine, in other soils you might need to concrete in the posts.
excellent video...
