    That's a beautiful way to finish seam allowances with sheer fabric! I don't think I ever would have thought of it. Thank you for making these Serger Tip Clips!

    This is great - i stumbled upon your class on craftsy years ago, 40 techniques every sewer should know (I think it was called) and prior to that I had no training or taken any sewing classes, and that class for me changed my sewing forever. Prior to that I had little knowledge of sewing and only knew what I knew from having watched my grandmother sew. I had no idea that pressing meant ironing lol!! That’s how little I knew!! Thank you so much for these videos.

      Happy I was able to help you . Before taking my first class, I was self-taught and had no idea there was so much to learn and it changed my life as well. Thanks for watching, Yelitza!

    French seams have been my favorite for YEARS since I first learned to do them in a class you taught at MSC! I use them all the time . I love your TH-cam Series. Miss classes with you. Keep posting!

    Simply beautiful french seam for sheers! And what a treasure for you to have been able to see Audrey's dress...and from a movie you enjoyed to boot!

    What a great tip! I'm going to try it on chiffon sleeves I need to replace on a formal dress.

      Hi Pam, although this isn’t a “true” French seam”, it creates a neat, narrow seam that looks beautiful on sheer fabrics. Glad you like it too and thanks for watching!

    Is that really a "french seam"? Isn't it more accurately a regular seam with a 3 thread rolled hem on the edge, stitched very close to the regular seam line, so the end result is a tiny seam with the rolled hem up against the seam line? It's very pretty and a great technique, but from what I understand about a french seam, this isn't it because it's not wrapped around and enclosing the original seam line like the traditional french seam would be.

      PhotogHer You’re right, it isn’t a traditional French Seam. It’s my version of a serger French seam. Thanks for watching!

    Is the rolled hem incased in the fabric?

    • @GailPatriceDesign
      @GailPatriceDesign  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      cocoajo No. As the rolled hem is stitched, the seam allowances are stitched together and they are trimmed to a very narrow width. Let me know if you have more questions-will be happy to hear from you. And thanks for watching Serger Tip Clips!

    Off topic, but I love your nails. That is how nails should look, not the garish , thick, squared off things in bright colours that distract from the video and that just plain look odd.

      Hi Ellelbee, Everyone has his/her style, but I prefer a quieter look to my nails so that the focus is on the stitching. Thanks for watching!
