I love it! Year's ago I made matching scrunchies for my daughter's softball team. I did it 'the original way', sewing the tube 1st, threading the elastic with a safety pin... this is so much quicker! Thank you! ⚘

I just started sewing and I was making hair scrunchies but they never looked seamless or professionally made. Now they look amazing because of your tutorial! Thank you so much my new fav way to make them and it is so easy now! It did take me a few times to get it, but now I understand the concept 😊

Omg! You’re a lifesaver! I was following another tutorial where you sew the ends of the elastic together with a zigzag stitch and she even said to back stitch over the elastic. It wasn’t working! And my hands shake so bad that I couldn’t get the tiny elastic under the presser foot! Thank you for this! I thought I’d never be able to make scrunchies because of her method for sewing the elastic. Thank you! ❤️

Ah, the best way to avoid that elastic knot! I would add a variation where the elastic is sewn all the way in one corner, so that when the elastic tightens the seam is pulled to the center and out of sight, for those who want that.

Okay, I think there's something your video isn't showing and what other commenters aren't saying....turning it right side out isn't that easy! Is it? I'm having a heckuva time with it! I've never made scrunchies before but now that you've made it look sew easy I plan to make some for my daughter. Just please tell me what the secret is to turning them right side out!

    • @SewVeryEasy

You can attach a safety pin to one side of the fabric tube and use it to help you grip onto something through the fabric as you're pulling one end through the other. If this doesn't make sense, there are probably lots of sewing tutorial videos on how to turn a tube inside out that will show it better than my words can describe it.

I've been using your elastic technique for mine, and I love it! I used to dread trying to push narrow elastic under the presser foot, and jamming the machine. I also think this method scrunches up the scrunchie better, making it look fuller and puffier. Also, it prevents the elastic from migrating inside of the scrunchie and/or twisting itself around. I'm going to try your closure method, too. I don't want to do the burrito method, and this is a great option for a neat closure. You are a great instructor! You show everything clearly, the video is well-lit, too.
