I just tried to watch the Part 4 and it won't play saying for copyright music was why. I'm gonna be working on my daughters cosplay and loved your tips for Starfire.
I'm so sorry for the inconvenience! If you're curious, I have a full PDF tutorial/breakdown for this costume available here: mangosirene.storenvy.com/products/17822051-starfire-costume-breakdown :)
I seriously thought i was like, the only one who sat on the floor to sew, and use the foot pedal with my knee. Your videos are soooo amazing and helpful!
I love these logs! I love your tips and tricks like using 2x fleece between spandex and pinning the fabric all around your leg for the covers, I used to try measurements but ended up with docens so I gave up. I must admit I'm more of a fan of making a CP rather than wearing one, so thank you so much for the inspiration and teachings ♥♡♥
Awesome. Thank you! I actually want to cosplay this version of Starfire, so these cosplay logs are a lot of help. And in general spandex sewing, there are a few cosplays I want to make that involve it so it's nice to see it first hand, someone working with it. I've sewn lycra but I was using a serger at my sewing teacher's studio.
I loves it! Starfire is one that I'd consider doing at some point... I like it when there are already vids up so that I can see how other people did things.
I totally understand what you mean at the beginning. It sucks when people think I'm weird for liking kpop, when I just feel happy while listening to it.
I love your music choices. Sadly I haven't been watching the videos but I already know I love them because it sounds like me. Lately I've been listening to DubStep while I work.
honestly THANK YOU SOOO MUCH for posting these videos, it gives me motivation and it gives me an idea on what to use for further cosplay!, again i appreciate the hard work you put into this and also for you taking time out of your day just to post these videos
I've been doing resin casting without any release agent and I haven't had any trouble popping gem out of plastic or silicone molds. I am speaking with experience here; I had to cast over 100 gems for a costume last summer and none of them had release agent in the mold. If you are still worried and can't find release agent petroleum jelly (a.k.a Vaseline) works but it might leave streaks. It's important to use glossy varnish for the finish if you want your gems to look really shiny. Good luck!
I'm from right outside Ann Arbor - I saw Twisted, and stayed after and got to meet them all, except for the writers who weren't there. And I saw Darren Criss when he was in Ann Arbor, and Joe Moses, so I have had a very StarKid full summer :)
Funny thing is whenever I work on project I usually listen to music I wouldn't normally listen to. I don't really listen to it but the beat kinda keeps me going and I lose myself in whatever I'm doing, almost like music in a movie, you're not really listening to the score it serves to keep your attention on the plot while setting the tone. Dig what you dig!
You're right, people shouldn't be complaining about your music - it's just stupid... Nice boots! Watching all these really makes me want to break out my Mom's old sewing machine and learn how to use it! :D
I Hope that the rest of the process for your Starfire cosplay goes a bit smoother than the resin casting ^^' Great job as always! Have fun and Good luck! :3
I really wanna start on my Raven cosplay but i have to finish my Dragonborn (Skyrim), Ciel in Wonderland, and Stocking (PSG) cosplay. I also hope i can go to OMGcon next year. Sirene, youre my inspiration ^-^
Michaels carries E-6000. It's where I get mine. Just so you know, hopefully your store carries it as well, I always find it in the aisle with the other adhesives.
Gosh i love these videos and seeing the progress. I am just wondering if maybe you could do a Cosplay 101 video about chest binding because really that is the only thing i know nothing about. If you could that would be great.
Oooooomigod you're amazing. I wish I could sew!! DX once upon a time I got my sewing machine license in 6th grade in F.A.C.S and made a pillow but that doesn't count and plus I couldn't even do that now... I would die for that kind of skill (actually wait no I wouldn't cuz if I was dead I couldn't go to come...u get the idea)
Owowow it hurts my back to see you leaning on your machine like that (I sounds like an old lady now) Anywoos, excellentwork, keep it up, I love to watch people working on their stuff 8D
Ah, I love you and your cosplay! These videos are fun to watch~ And you guys know that if you don't like the music she plays you can just mute it and play some of your own? That's what I do xD
Wow I wish I could of found gray spandex when I was making my starfire cosplay, where did you get it? (Instead I used this gray vinyl for that part of the costume)
Hi Sirene! I looked through the comments but I couldn't find a reply to this one yet so I was wondering, how come you can't see the seams on your boot covers? I've never worked with spandex before so I'm really curious about how that works. At least in the video you can't see the seam at all and you'd think it would be obvious, considering you pinned down the front of the boot as well... Or is it the stretch of the knit hiding the seam because of the type of fabric it is? Thanks!
I totally agree with you about the music thing. I was just wondering why do you sew on the ground? it seems easier on a table but then again I don't sew. I was also wondering if you taught yourself to sew?
If you want to measure your arm for your bracers, you can measure your wrist, middle of your forearm, and part nearest to the elbow. Then, write your measurements on your arm. Take a ruler or tape measure and basically copy the measurements onto your fabric in order, so top, middle, bottom/wrist. This is how I made my leather gauntlets ^.^
...PEOPLE STILL HAVE FLOORS!? Man this costume looks so awesome, I'm kind of jealous. I tried to be Beastboy for halloween one year, had the costume itself, but we didn't make it to the store in time to by green skin paint. xD Good luck with the rest of your costume!
Hey! I've been looking for a sewing machine similar to the one that I see you use in your videos. What kind of machine is that? And if you remember about how much did it cost? Thanks Mango! Imma HUGE fan!
Thank you so much!!! I was wondering how you put fabric on normal shoes or any kind of shoes for cosplay~ XD You are my savior for having this video thank you so much!!!
I was just curious as to how much of the spandex you used. I am working on a rule 63 Speedy cosplay and the boots are exactly what i need them to look like. I already have the boots purchased but I do not want to get too much or too little of the fabric when I buy it. Thanks! :)
Sorry, but I have a few questions: 1. Does the outline of the shoe show through? I can't see very well, but it looks like it does not. Do you just have to pull the fabric up so it does not touch the shoe top? 2. Are the seams very obvious on the front and back. I can't see them very well, but would a close-up shot show the seams? Overall, thanks for another great cosplay work log. It's very helpful!
How much purple fabric did you use for the boot covers? I'm making Danny Phantom boot covers and this has been the most helpful video so thanks a bunch!
this is exactly what i needed!! thank yoouuuu!! but i have some questions still for the bottom of the boot covers (purple) did you sew or do anything to the ends other than glue them to the shoes? what brand of spray paint did you use? and how have the boots held up? like did they fall apart or paint rub off?
I hope you see this and can answer me! I am trying to do my first cosplay and wanted to do boots like this, what kind of material did you use for the boot covers? I am also sorry if you did hear but I missed it. When my daughter naps (if she does i should say) is the only time i can watch your videos and she tends to sleep cry.
Thanks for this video, you really explained it well ^_^ Gonna make bootcovers for the first time tomorrow haha. Just wondering, do they stay up all day or do you use some kind of leg glue to keep them up?

I keep going back to this video because I really enjoy watching it X3
Awesome. Thank you!

This is probably the best tutorial for boots
It is always amazing to watch a fellow artist at work. When it comes to creating costumes you are a wizard.
I've always really struggled with the concept of boot covers, so I actually learned something! Thanks so much.
Also, I love the 2nd song.
These boots are FREAKING AWESOME.
I totally understand what you mean at the beginning. It sucks when people think I'm weird for liking kpop, when I just feel happy while listening to it.
The boot turned out perfect!
Don't stop making these worklogs! They are so much fun to watch :) plus they help out tons toooo
I love your music choices. Sadly I haven't been watching the videos but I already know I love them because it sounds like me. Lately I've been listening to DubStep while I work.

They turned out pretty good :D !
I'm from right outside Ann Arbor - I saw Twisted, and stayed after and got to meet them all, except for the writers who weren't there. And I saw Darren Criss when he was in Ann Arbor, and Joe Moses, so I have had a very StarKid full summer :)

I love your costumes! Thank you for sharing your videos and process. :) You're a great cosplayer! :D
Funny thing is whenever I work on project I usually listen to music I wouldn't normally listen to. you're talented you make it look so easy to do :)

Omfg I wish I had your amazingly awesome sewing cosplay skills my starfire cosplay wont be nearly as good as yours!
"Look, it's an actual floor! I didn't know I had one!" Hahaha, my feelings exactly, after post-con clean-ups :D
Thanks for this . I was looking for a way to make knee highs for a wonder woman cosplay - I think your method will be perfect for me to use
I love your music choices =)
Lol who cares if they don't like your music choices, they're your videos :-) so far the costume looks great. Wish I was that talented.
i'm not into top 40's but it's up there for a reason for that music being there and that reason being that a lot of people like it
I really wanna start on my Raven cosplay but i have to finish my Dragonborn (Skyrim), Ciel in Wonderland, and Stocking (PSG) cosplay. I also hope i can go to OMGcon next year. Sirene, youre my inspiration ^-^
I wish I could sit with you and you teach me your ways. I would bring food and bad jokes and even worse singing along to the music. lol.
Thank you for the info!! It helped tons~!! And you're gonna be an awesome starfire~
Ahahaha! So happy about the music rant, good for you ^_^
i really like thes kinds of videos, you should make more videos of you making your cosplays :)
"This is a floor! I didn't know I had one!" That was hilarious. :D

Owowow it hurts my back to see you leaning on your machine like that (I sounds like an old lady now)
Anywoos, excellentwork, keep it up, I love to watch people working on their stuff 8D
Ah, I love you and your cosplay! These videos are fun to watch~
And you guys know that if you don't like the music she plays you can just mute it and play some of your own? That's what I do xD
Your music is completely fine. Ignore the haters lol. I love all types of music and your choices are completely ok:)
GO TEENWOLF!
what fabric did you use to make the boot covers?
I want to make some thigh high stockings and that material looks like it would be the best.
Thanks ^^
Looks amazing Nina
Wow I wish I could of found gray spandex when I was making my starfire cosplay, where did you get it? (Instead I used this gray vinyl for that part of the costume)
When you said, "you may think you're really superior" I was thinking of Spiderman. LOL
Girl, I freaking liked your music choices!!!
All you who hate it MUTE THAT sheesh it's easy as that.
You are probably one of my favorite people ever, aha.
I was a little surprised when I saw her do this, as I thought I was the only one that found it more comfortable to sew that way.
where did u get these shoes? they are amazing! çAç
Hi Sirene! I looked through the comments but I couldn't find a reply to this one yet so I was wondering, how come you can't see the seams on your boot covers? You just told people who don't like your music choice to go screw themselves. I think I'm in love.

AGREED on being irritated by people that think they're better than others for hating a particular kind of music.
Teen Wolf soundtrack? HECK YES
I want to be Raven. Starfish is amazing and you'll be so great as her!!!!
I'm planning to do a Mew Ichigo cosplay and this can be a great help for me. But what kind of fabric did you use for the boot covers?
im so jelous of your skilsssssXD
xD I loved your music!!!
Apparently part 4 is blocked..... 🙁 I love your cosplay so far.
I was just curious as to how much of the spandex you used. I am working on a rule 63 Speedy cosplay and the boots are exactly what i need them to look like. I already have the boots purchased but I do not want to get too much or too little of the fabric when I buy it. Thanks! :)
O-M-G I lovee Starfire :3 I am so jelly of your sewing skills too! You should like. . . Teach me bro :o Lol LOVE YOUU!
I was wanting to ask what site you went onto to get the silver spandex. I would love to know for when I redo Starfire x3
Sorry, but I have a few questions:
Why aren't you doing this for a living? Very cool. My friend said she is jealous of your skill. LoL!
this is exactly what i needed!! thank yoouuuu!! but i have some questions still
for the bottom of the boot covers (purple) did you sew or do anything to the ends other than glue them to the shoes? what brand of spray paint did you use? and how have the boots held up? like did they fall apart or paint rub off?
I hope you see this and can answer me!

OMG I'm going to 2014 Ohayocon! Are you going? This will be my first year there, and my secong convention ever. I'm super exited!
are you using your knee on the sewing machine pedal?!? you are awesome
As somebody with no artistic or sewing ability I find this fascinating
"When there's trouble you know who to call....!"
Thanks for this video, you really explained it well ^_^ Gonna make bootcovers for the first time tomorrow haha. Just wondering, do they stay up all day or do you use some kind of leg glue to keep them up?
