  • Zippin Pippin is the signature attraction at Bay Beach Amusement Park in Green Bay, Wisconsin. This historic wood coaster was originally designed by John Miller for Memphis, Tennessee. But after Libertyland closed in 2005, the original Zippin Pippin was left to rot. Bay Beach purchased the coaster's original plans and contracted the Gravity Group to reconstruct the Zippin Pippin. And the ride has been a resounding success for the park!

You can kind of feel the "ejector death hill" doing its thing just looking at this video.

This is my second favorite woodie! I’ve never ridden it in the back without almost a full train and I got to say it ran so slow in this footage and the death hill looked week!

I got some rides with a half full trains and the ride didn't vary from this one.

The Zippin Pippin was the very first roller coaster that I ever rode when it was at LibertyLand,I would love to ride it again.

Wonderful footage of a terrific coaster! I love watching the birds as you go up the lift hill.

The Elvis Hill...jesus that's gotta be the biggest gut punch of airtime in the Midwest asides from Time Traveler's drop back row.

The ejector death hill was glorious, but I think I prefer a few moments on Cyclops over that hill. The bunny hill was still fantastic though.

@@CanobieCoaster When I rode this a little over a month ago the trick with it was car 1 row 3 (same as phoenix at knoebels).
Cyclops has a few gut punches of its own now that you mention it haha. Something about the Wisconsin woodies lol.

I go with Elvis bump. I know the guys who came up with ejector death hill and none of those adjectives fit the ride very well imo.

I'll definitely give this a try if I were in town for a Packers game early in the season.

Haha when this was in Memphis I never rode it because it always sounded like the wood was cracking but I honestly didn’t know it was still called zippin pippin lol the revolution is in the Philippines with a different name

I'm glad the coaster lives in spirit albeit in a new home.

For an older ride, it aged pretty well. The drops, duration and speed are pretty decent, there's a couple surprises thrown in there for good airtime and the shoreline location of the bay is beautiful. It also has an interesting history, as it was declared by Elvis as his favorite ride. Nice little touch of theming for a smaller park. The jolt at the end of the ride is kind of controversial, it's a great airtime surprise, but man, is that bump violent. I think the capacity and lap bars are ok, but really the only negative is the awkward station setup, where passengers have to get on and off on the same side of the roller coaster. That's a pretty minor thing though and it barely distracts riders from the overall attraction. Plus there is never a really long wait for the ride.

I don't know if I can call it an old ride since it was completely rebuilt from scratch. Old layout, yes.

@@CanobieCoaster from your povs it looks like it was running a little slow. We had sunset rides with full trains and were getting launched on every hill in the front 4 rows or so. Back was decent.

    • @CanobieCoaster
      @CanobieCoaster  3 ปีที่แล้ว

I didn't find it sped up in my 2 hours there- even as the trains were half full. At least the back car still delivered for me.

There was a 100% chance of thunderstorms and thankfully they concluded just before the park opened.

It didn't feel very fast, but the airtime in the back was great.
