Must have been something that made the company go "could we be held liable for this?" Or he was accesssing sketchy sites on a work computer.
Wouldn't have to be something super bad. Especially during an audit, because those are done by people outside the group, different branch/department. It's their job to report on anything they find, and they have no reason to go easy on anyone because it's not their own department.
Pretty sure the only way you'd get away with something like that is if the audit team was looking for something specific and bad, and just didn't have the time to do the paperwork on whatever smaller infraction.

@@zarafex-0923 idiots and its not even the dumbest stunt I know of. If your work has some kind of stupid sounding rule it because some moron has done it. For example my employer has strict no food in production areas rule because someone was using burritos to smuggle things into the building he really shouldn't have. The company metophricly drop kicked his ass out the door and placed the ban next day.

I used to work in the I.T industry as a PC/Network tech for a company that offered services to large corprates. One day the CEO of one of these said companies laptop crashed, and had to recover the data put it on new machine. Needless to say in the process of doing this I found his "homework" folder, and got an eye full of his "home videos". Had to take the machine back to this man
afterwards and try look him in the eye with out laughing.
Still one of the most awkward moments of my life.
Happened to me
I found a folder full of movies in the PC I'm using (it shared PC with 2 others coworkers) i was that guy who use it the most and know how people hide things.
So I go on SEARCH & DESTROY mode and found so much shit.
I think he was sale them on CDs because there was covers folder too
I deleted everything and didn't made a personal copy if you wondering 😂 after all they all was live action no H anime 🤓 I have standers.
He adk if I deleted something from the computer and I said no, he couldn't do anything anyway.
If this folder found out Imay get the blame because I was the youngest and the only unmarried guy in the office and the newest
